211 Bistro and Martini Bar

My husband and I stopped here on July 8th, 2013. When we entered we could tell that the AC was not working properly. They had ceiling fans, helpful. The interior was nice, nicer than I expected. The staff was kind and friendly, but a little slow. I checked out the menu, they had a variety of items listed with reasonable prices. My husband ordered wings which were decent. The waitress asked if he would like fries for an additional charge but did not say how much. I found how that at the end of the meal they were $3. Fries were good, not worth $3.00. A kids meal which included a grilled cheese sandwich and fries cost $3.50. Interesting.
I ordered the shrimp and grits. I have had many different versions of this dish and this one was on the lower end of delicious. On the menu under entrees it explained that all entrees were served with a side of veggies and mash potatoes except for the items with an *. The shrimps and grits did not have an *. I expected to get both sides. When my meal was brought they brought me one side of veggies. I asked about the other side and the waiter responded that most people do not like the potatoes with the shrimp and grits. I understand that but if you are going to charge me for a dish that was to come with two sides I should get two sides. So at the end of the meal I ended up paying for my dish (with only one side) and paying for a side that I did not expect to be high.

Overall, I am not pleased. The menu is not laid out for the consumer well enough to make an informed decision.

We ate here on Saturday April 27 and it was a horrible culinary experience. I ordered the prime rib and ended up taking home to my dogs.  It was over cooked and flattened. My husband got salmon and he said it tasted like paper. Will not be back and will not recommend.

2 beers, iced tea, one appetizer, and two entrees for $36. Not bad at all. Service wasn't bad, either. What was bad were the crab cakes and "remoulade" sauce. I love seafood, but these crab cakes tasted so strong they needed some sauce to mask the flavor. Out comes what the bistro  calls remoulade. It was tartar sauce so watered down I couldn't even pick up a glob with my fork. Horrible. Mashed potatoes that came with them were also the smallest side serving I've ever seen. Husband had a chicken burger, but the egg bread they use instead of a bun was falling apart after three bites. He had to knife and fork the rest of it. Fries were good, though. Iced tea was good. Great waitress, but won't be back.
