This is a cool place. Â The people who work here are friendly, make strong drinks (for pretty cheap), and play a lot of cool 80's music. Â Sometimes there will be some creepy elderly guys slithering around looking to hit on younger folks like myself, but they usually go away when you tell them off. Â
I would rather go here than go to most bars in Boston.
Big change from the last time I was here. Â I stopped going years ago because it was such a dump and the bathrooms were distgusting. Â Now it's clean, nice beer selection, and good food. Â Job well done by the new owners. Â I am impressed. Â It's nicer than most of the gay bars in Boston.
Review Source:It was I year ago I last reviewed 47 Central. Â Time for another update. Â The current owners are really trying to make a go of it. Â They've finally revitalized the kitchen and food is very good and very cheap. Â Home cookin'. Â They've FINALLY gutted and revamped the nasty bathrooms. Â MUCH better. Â The place has cleaned up a lot. Â Kudos! Â Now, where there's sunshine there are bound to be clouds as well...at 47 this is in the form of the DJ. Â This DJ is currently stuck in bad 80's/90's music videos of yon of poor quality, even poorer taste, and sloppily mixed. Â They have a great dancefloor lighting system and lights remain the same constant all night long. Â Drinks are still fantastic and reasonable. Â Clean, friendly, fun. Â "Hey Mr. DJ...find another job. Â I want to dance with my baby..."
