Very unimpressed by this spot. Came to town for a football game and was staying at a local AirBNB spot. Was exited about its proximity to where we were staying but after arriving (w/ 6 ppl at 7:30pm) they said they only took reservations. (75% of tables were empty) Hard to believe the little spot in this town would pass up a table of 6 who would have spent $75 each. Sucks to be you Abigail's. I would suggest you find anything else but this place to eat.
Even if you had to find old Cheerios or M&M's , that's a better bet than this place
As all others say--make a reservation! My husband and I came to Abigail's on March 23, 2013. Everything was delicious. We had the hummus and tomato bisque soup as starters. I had the lobster ravioli which was absolutely delicious but filling--I was warned, though! For dessert, we split the homemade gooey butter cake, which is the best I've had. Absolutely recommended.
Review Source:Love this place! Recently visited Abigail's on my yearly Christmas visit to Ste. Genevieve, MO. It's a great eating experience, the atmosphere is relaxing and the menu supports a creative selection of sandwiches, soups and dinner items. Naturally, deciding what to select might take a few minutes or more, but the end result is very rewarding.
With a little infulence from the waitress i finish off the lunch from a great selection of "homemade" sweet tooth delights. This place has their "ducks in a roll" and you'll be glad you took the time to experience Abigail's!
Rocheport is nested around the beautiful hills of Missouri and one side borders the slow flow of the Missouri River with exploritory hiking trials and cliffs. A good way to eliminate some of the calories from the previous meal.
A leasure walk around town will let you experience the many shops that feature local art, craft items and antiques.
Here is the thing about Abigail's; it's awesome! The food could certainly be better but this place is great without having mind blowing cuisine.
The restaurant is warm and welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. The kitchen is mostly open to the dinning room and so are their ingredients. An old glass covered deli counter houses cold line storage and gives you a peak into what goes into their food. Exposed brick, crayons on the tables, and an antique store decor set you up for just what Abigail's food is; a nice home cooked meal. It's a family operation, wife Susan and Husband Todd run the joint and hold down a frequently changing menu.
Here's my criticism. I had a pork chop, a perfectly cooked pork chop. It had a coating of chili powder and was topped with a black bean and mango salad. It was creative but it distracted rather than emphasized the flavor of the meat itself. Â I would have liked to see a sauce, just a simple pan gravy to add a bit more flavor and moisture. I guess I was expecting a down home meal of meat and potatoes to come out of this down home place.
Their wine list was reader friendly, not too extensive, and refreshing. Aside from the comfy atmosphere, it was certainly my favorite part of the meal. They had all the usual suspects as well as a few more interesting grape varieties you don't normally find at restaurants in Central Missouri all of which you can order by the glass. We didn't make it to the dessert course but the table next to ours came solely for wine and dessert which sounds like a great idea.
The place is quite small so be sure to give them a call before you head out to let them know you're coming. You wouldn't just show up and surprise your mother with a visit expecting to get fed would you?
If there was a way to give this place 6 stars, I would do it.
The menu changes twice daily; so, it is on a dry erase board on an easel, which they bring around to the tables. Â The husband does the cooking and the wife does the baking. Â Everything we had was excellent: mango bisque, warm brie over greens, chicken salad wrap, pecan pie, and pumpkin cake. Â Even the iced tea was excellent.
I've heard good things about Abigail's and I definitely wasn't disappointed. They have weird hours and there was a 45 minute wait, but it was worth it. The menu changes daily and they bring it out to your table on a giant dry erase board. They use fresh, local ingredients, and it shows. I got the chicken prosciutto ravioli and it was delicious. The sauce was flavorful and the greens were fresh. Our waiter was probably 10 years old (not exaggerating) which was a little weird, but he was good! I can't wait to go back and see what they have next time.
