The service at Joe's was great - I have absolutely no complaints. Their food on the other hand was not.
Their main issue is that they over-season EVERYTHING.
I got the swordfish. It was swimming in a pool of oil and had way too much salt and peppercorn on it. It tasted like pizza hut grease. It was awful. And for $16 for the entree, I won't be going back to Joes again!
Even the steamed broccoli I got as my side dish was covered in salt and butter.
This may be an okay place to grab a burger and a beer. Steer clear of the entrees though. You'll get way better food at The Fork or Bistro 310 downtown for almost the same price.
We've been to Amazing Joe's twice so far and I give this place 5 stars for the service alone. The first time, we had the best server--I mean the best! His name was Devon & he'd only been a server for 3 weeks. He was absolutely amazing! He just did everything perfectly. We told the manager, Toby, how terrific Devon was and Toby was wonderful to talk to. He told us that AJG wasn't some cold corporate chain, but just had 2 branches and treated their employees with care & respect.
We went back a few days later for a drink. Toby spotted us and said he had my coat! I had left it behind and didn't realize it until he said something. So many people in and out and not only remembered us, but remembered the coat was mine. And then treated us to a drink. Wonderful staff!!!
I try to get to this place at least once a week. Of all the pub/restaurants I've been to in Columbus, none beats Amazing Joe's for the coldness of beer. They keep their glasses in a freezer, and the beer they serve literally has frozen bits in it when it arrives! The staff is real friendly, one of the two owners, Nick, makes sure he spends time with all the guests without being intrusive and makes you feel home. As far as food goes, steaks at Amazing Joe's are as good as I've had in any other place in town, if not better. I strongly recommend this place if you want a few ice cold beers and decent steaks in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
