This used to be a cool place when it was Mr K's. Now it one one those retarded "Sports Bars". With a frigging TV everywhere. With no volume on any of them of course.
Food is horrible made by hernandez or whatever his illegal alien name is. Happy hour consists of Coors or Coors light. Wow. Bartender is a moron. Slow. No decent chicks. Just the same losers day in, day out. Depressing sums it up.
They have perhaps fifteen TVs and a lot of seating. Gets crowded for big games.
The fish tacos are pretty good, but other than that the food is nothing special from my experience.
If you're near Burlingame and need a place to meet with some friends to catch a game, and you don't want to drive very far, this is a great option.
I got the chance to go to this bar with my buddy while I was visiting from out of town. Â And even though I'm from L.A. I enjoyed this bar and I thought the food was OK for bar food which is a compliment.
Definitely a great place to watch a game or grabs some drinks with friends. Â I was there while the Niners were playing to get to the Superbowl and the vibe was awesome and place was packed.
I would for sure go back again.
This is a hardcore SF Giants/49ers bar. Â If you want to go in here claiming any other teams, be prepared for the backlash. Â On second thought, just don't do that. Â It's not smart. Â If you are a fan of some other awesome team with the colors silver & black that's just across the bay in the biggity biggity O, you should just shut up about it. Â Trust me, no one wants to hear that noise in this bar. Â
Since I'm a Giants fan, I enjoy coming here to watch baseball games with my fellow  comrades.  I don't come here too much during football season because I can get sassy about my teams. Â
They have a great happy hour. Â Surprisingly, their burger is really good. The service is solid. Â A good time, overall.
Good bar with good selection of liquors and beer. Â Really friendly staff.
I got some french fries and they were perfectly fried, crispy with the right amount of salt, when my friends ordered the fries I rolled my eyes, but they were yummy.
Clean restrooms, lots of space, tons of TVs. Â It was pretty packed for Raiders Thursday Night Football, but the service wasn't affected which I really appreciate, will be back for sure when I'm back in that area. Â
Speaking of the area, the location is also pretty cool, there's an upscale grocery store right by it, and a liquor/convenience store around the corner if you want some smokes or are feeling lucky and want a lotto scratcher like I did.
Typical small town sports bar. Lots of very nice tvs to catch the game on. A number of beers on tap and they serve pitchers which is nice and they have complementary popcorn. However I'd skip on the chicken wings. They aren't hot wings, have no sauce, and just aren't very good for the price they charge.
Review Source:plenty of modern TV's & they know how to use them. Â This place is my default sports bar when staying near SFO. Â
I was here recently for an NFL Sunday, and I had to bail at halftime of the early games due to locals cheering about all of their fantasy football shit. Â Fantasy football is ruining the bar experience, but I digress.
The food is not standard pub fare. Â They do Mexican dishes really well, and the Lumpia is why I keep coming back.
I go here mostly when I just want to get away from my life and be a normal person.
Bartenders are the FRIENDLIEST AROUND, but this isn't the place I go when I want to drink fancy beer or cutting-edge cocktails. It's also not the place I go if I expect quick service from the waitstaff. There have been a handful of times that I've been here and feel like I've been forgotten about and just ended up walking out because It took longer than an inning for anybody to ask if me or my wife wanted something to drink. It wasn't just me either. I saw other people even raising their hand trying to get their waitress' attention. Oh well, their loss.
Bites are pretty good, but I will emphasize that this is a sports bar and grill, not a foodie retreat by any means. They got the food that's gonna sate your beer munchies.
This place is a sports bar with lots of regulars. Â When I walked in the door, a couple of groups at the bar invited me to join them. Â Since I wasn't drinking, I took a table. Â
Love that there are lots of TVs circling the room. Â You'll find the game/event you're looking for on one of the screens. Â If you don't see it, I'm sure the bartender will change a channel for you. Â Today's events: Â the US Open in SF, baseball, and soccer matches.
The menu is standard "pub" fare. Â The prices reasonable. Â The portions generous. Â I was torn between a turkey paninni and the Philly Cheese steak. Â The server recommended the Cheese steak. Â Great choice! Â Perfectly cooked thinly sliced steak served with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and peppers then topped with melted Provolone. Â Sandwich perfection if you ask me. Â
The folks there are friendly! Â The service, great. Â This could be a regular Saturday lunch stop before marketing at Lunardi's next door.
I'm surprised I haven't written a review for "The Bull" yet. This place is a great example of a sports bar. Tons of TV's with multiple games and sports on. I imagine this would be a great place to watch some March Madness. This was also a favorite spot to go with my old co-workers as well. The beer selection is good and is a good deal.
I haven't sampled everything off the menu. Though the chicken tenders and fries appetizer is tasty, Bull burger is good, and the best is the chicken sandwich. I usually order this one because it has pesto, bacon, and cheese on a tasty chicken breast with fries on the side. The sandwich is less than $10 I believe. Also, if your just looking for a snack they have self-serve popcorn which is a big plus.
One night of the week they also have Karaoke so they do venture out to draw a different audience once in awhile. I remember singing the Journey theme song from the Giants World Series run there before. Great times.
I'm from NJ and don't want to pay the crazy price to see my hometown teams (LINSANITY).. I was looking for a cool place to just have a beer and watch the game. Did a search and this place came up. Looked ok so I decided to give it a shot.
I was pleasantly surprised, didn't look like much from the outside, but when I went in I was impressed. Sports bar, lots of TV's friendly staff. I asked for a certain TV to be put on a specific channel and had no problem getting it done. Pretty good "Bar Food" as you would expect.
I actually went back 3 days in a row, Knicks, Syracuse, Devils... Like heaven to a sports fan like me. Oh and all during happy hr, extra bonus.
A degenerate gamblers paradise!! This place has plenty of TV's with plenty of different games on at all times. A full bar with a help yourself popcorn machine. Not to mention all the menu choices will definitly keep you more than happy when your watching your team.
I usually get the New York steak and spaghetti.
4 stars for some burgers and wangs!!! I've read the other reviews so I stayed away from the lumpia
The wangs are legit definite must try if you visit.. Crispy goodness on every bite
The burger was standard, size wise good portion, flavor wise good not amazing just good..
Several jerseys signed from it seems all types of bay area sports figures, a lot of memorabilia, definite old school sports bar
I would come back for the wings definitely!!!!
Food *** for the wings ****
Price $
Service ****
Ambiance *** old school sports bar
Came for the 49ers playoff game.
Plenty of parking. We ordered some appetizers. The chicken wings are good but kinda salty. Garlic fries were nice and crispy. The prices are ok i guess. Kinda expected a bit more food for the price we paid.
Beer selection is limited. Wish there were more beer offerings.
Fried lumpia sucked the chicken wings however.... I WILL BE BAHK. Â They were delish. Â I can't stop thinking about how good they were. Â Their fries are good too. Â Garlic and regular
Also for you Michigan fans, this bar has a Humongo Red Wings flag on their wall, an old Michigan State football schedule, Â despite being swallowed up by the SF memorabiia surrounding it. Â My guess the owner of this bar is from Michigan.
Either way, it's a good place to eat and watch some sports...flat screens  are surrounding you.  As of now this is the closest thing to Buffalo Wild Wings so Check it out.
First time I came here it was all about fried lumpias, beer, and the game.
This old school sports bar is literally stuck in time and hasn't changed much since then. Well, there's a new Giants section on the wall highlighting our World Series and there's still a bunch of tv's and the autographed 49er jerseys from Joe, Jerry, and Steve. Definitely a relaxed and casual place to chill. Some folks even brought their kids in. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Cq7KL3rAcEHuoRUHOqxYg?select=dZK2IeUIaB_2cnWWJgCSzA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
The buffalo wings, aren't that spicy (6 pcs for $8) but they were perfectly crisp and juicy. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Cq7KL3rAcEHuoRUHOqxYg?select=963S9G25Kl0vduEthLbPqA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
The 1/2lb cheeseburger ($9) came with the standard toppings and your choice of cheese (cheddar). It was unusually greasy for a even a pub burger. Skip the applewood smoked bacon ($3) since it was soggy and chewy instead of crisp. I opted for the side of chili instead of fries and I liked how it was meaty instead of beany. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Cq7KL3rAcEHuoRUHOqxYg?select=TjdHctFfKS2hYsodTH9EbQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
The food's decent but the atmosphere is what makes this place. A little piece of "Cheers" along the Millbrae/Bgame border where the staff knows your name if you're a regular. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Cq7KL3rAcEHuoRUHOqxYg?select=V11v8coRIlWAd6ufYazZCw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
Great place to watch football games on Sunday. They don't charge a cover, and you can stay pretty much as long as you want.
The pitchers were a little pricy, as were the wings, but man were they delicious (the wings that is). Really fantastic, absolutely worth trying.
If you're looking for a place to watch every NFL game and relax, this is a great option. Definitely filled with some interesting people (let's just say I wouldn't necessarily order a mind-eraser or long island ice tea on a sunday at 10 am), but overall highly recommended for what it is.
Had lunch here with Scott today and watched the Man U vs Shalke game. Â I like like the fact that they always show soccer here. Â But that's not why I'm updating this review. Â They now have LUNCH SPECIALS!! Â They have dinner specials too.
But I like the fact that they have $6.95 lunch specials. Â It's a great option and one more reason to have lunch here.
For some reason, I'm not in love with this place. Â Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad place, but I personally don't enjoy the overall ambiance of the place.
There are a good number of TVs (although I recall them being more like projection screens than HD TVs) and it's hardly ever that crowded so at least you don't have to fight for a table or the attention of the waiters and waitresses.
Pros:
- They serve pitchers of beer
- They serve Filipino food
- They give free popcorn
- Not that crowded
Con:
- A little pricey for the kind of food that they have
- Food is adequate at best
- I don't know what it is but I just don't feel it!
To support Filipino small business owners, I might come back just to give it another chance.
I went here twice and both times I was pretty impressed by the food. Â This place is in the middle of a shopping area and is like a hole in the wall. Â
The first time I was here, I had the chicken and bacon sandwich. Â The smoked bacon was AMAZING and the chicken was moist. Â The second time I was here was yesterday and I had the chicken wings and short ribs. Â The wings were very crispy on the outside and had the right amount of heat, and the chicken meat was moist on the inside. Â One of the best wings I've ever had. Â The short ribs don't really legally qualify as "short ribs" since it didn't have any bone, but it was cooked very well and was tasty nonetheless.
I'm very surprised by the quality of food here and the lack of yelp reviews. Â This place has been around for a bit but I guess the crowd is a lot older and they probably aren't yelpers, so I decided to put my two cents here.
The reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars was the lack of a cocktail program. Â As a bartender I do like a well made cocktail, especially one that will match the high quality of the food served here. Â The main drinks ordered here are pretty much the build drinks ("something and something") but at least they are dirt cheap; in addition to the drink specials, the regular prices for well drinks is only $4! Â A premium drink is only like $6-7.
Ah, the eternal search for a sports bar that also serves some quality food beyond the usual wings/mozzerella stick/burger mantra. Â Well, American Bull does some nice things beyond the typical sports bar fare such as lumpia, pot stickers and pasta as well as a nice breakfast menu on weekends for the early games. Â The quality - especially for a sport bar - is very good.
They do their best to accomodate people their with seating (near their desired game) and service in general. Â The servers always seem to have their eye on the customers here and the bartending is top-notch as well.
As sports bars go I'd rate them top-five in Bay Area.
We love this place and come here during football season on a regular basis. Â They have a ton of TV's strategically placed and enough seating to accommodate the throngs of sports fans there on any given day. Â Granted, I've only been here on Sundays. Â Food is decent and reasonably priced.
Minus one star for friendly, but extremely slow service on Sundays. Â They only have two waitresses for like 50+ people.
This place has a dark, sports-bar like feel. Â I'd estimate at least 15 TV's. Â Good place to grab a pitcher and watch a game. Â It's one of those places in the Peninsula that will play a Warriors game you can only watch if you have a special Comcast sports package...
Another perk - this place has Devils Canyon, a hard to find local brewed beer, which is pretty good. Â Besides that, food is acceptable in taste but I think over-priced. Â
In the end, if you like sports bars, you shouldn't have any problems with this place. Â Oh ya, "the Bull" also has live music and DJ's occasionally.
It's more like a sports bar. Â It's dark with tvs on sports, the booths, the bars, the patrons...
My sister-in-law says she's into mojito so that's what she ordered. Â I asked the bartender the best mixed drink and he said mojito - ok, mojito it is. Â At $7 each, you get a large glass like that of a beer pint. Â It's minty and sweet.
We shared a sampler platter with 6 pieces of lumpia and 3 pieces each of chicken drumettes and chicken tenders ($11.25). Â It didn't look promising BUT it was actually surprisingly tasty. Â Everything was piping hot and crispy. Â The lumpias were bite sized. Â I asked for a side of bbq sauce and it was flavorful and smokey. Â
They checked id!!
American Bull Bar & Grill has a lot of the fundamentals that you need in a good sports bar... Lots of TV's, a good variety of beer, and some really good bar food. You also will get your share of semi-routy locals (by Burlingame standards). Located across from Peninsula Hospital, this is a great place to grab a bite and unwind after visiting someone at the hospital or to catch a game.
On the down side, the beer prices are a little high if you don't buy a pitcher. (With the exception of the Happy Hour specials which are pretty smoken) The service is a little bit spotty and can be pretty slow at times. While the beaten up inside of the place adds some to the atmosphere, the place is in need of a make over as it really is showing it's age.
On the up side, their burgers might be the best in Burlingame. Their appetizers are also very good. American Bull does keep a pretty family friendly atmosphere which includes a few video games.
Overall, this sports bar gets 4 stars from me
If you don't mind waiting almost an hour for your standard bar and grill food while you watch the game then you might enjoy this place. Although it can be quite easy to get caught up and lost in watching one of your favorite teams play, you can't ignore the grumbling of your tummy.
I seem to only go here during popular sporting events that take place during the day of the standard work week. This time it was for the NCAA basketball tournament and more specifically to watch my alma mater, Cal, take on Maryland during my lunch hour. Maybe it's my fault for always coming here when it is really crowded, but this spot is always really slow. The wait staff is pretty friendly and will take your order quickly, but after that you'll honestly believe your order got lost in the ether. Basically they are really understaffed here, especially for the days when they should think about bringing in extra help. As for the food, this time I ordered the American Bull Burger which they say is made from USDA choice round chuck. All I can really say is that it was probably just as good as a Whopper, but much more expensive.
This bar and grill does have a lot of TVs scattered all over the place so that no matter which direction you are sitting you'll be able to watch something without turning your head around or adjusting your position, unfortunately only a very few of these TVs are broadcasting in HD.
I'm game, no pun intended, for the calimari, the chicken wings, and FREE POPCORN (who doesn't love popcorn... who doesnt love FREE). Â The ribs are pretty good, too.
There's an online coupon for a free appetizer when you buy an entree. Â (ha, my theme for this review - free). Â
Typical sports bar with a gazillion TVs.. and it gets loud. go figure.
There's games in the corner... darts and some computer games (25 cents/game).
good times, good times.
I've only ever been here on Sundays so I have some advice about that...GET HERE EARLY! Last Sunday we had to sit at the bar, right in the aisle way and it was frustrating when people kept walking in front of me while I was trying to watch the games. The place is pretty big and has a lot of tables, it's just that a lot of people come in!
Their food is pretty good, and their prices are pretty inexpensive. They have more than enough TV's for everyone to watch whatever game they want. The people are also pretty friendly, considering that there is a good mix of fans from all over!
One note....the picture makes it look a lot more modern than it is...
One of the better local sports bars on the peninsula. TV screens, including a 50 incher, are all over the place and there's even a stage for bands. It can be a bit family-oriented, but you also get the regular barflys camped out as well. The service is attentive and really friendly--they'll even strike up a conversation. Their burger was loaded--juicy and flavorful as well and comes with your choice of coleslaw (which I got), fries or potato salad. They even have Guiness on tap. The only downside is that the happy hour prices aren't all that.
update 8/21/07: The chicken sandwich (in a sort of pesto sauce) w/bacon, tomato, lettuce and swiss cheese (on wheat) is the bomb.
They have Hot Spot here?! SCORE. Â It's a California Lottery game like Keno and it displays the results every 5 minutes on a screen dedicated to CA Lottery games . Â Very addictive... and tax deductible! Â Obviously only worth it if you're a Hot Spot fanatic like me. Â The multiple TV screens are great for my fellow attention deficits.
I've only come here for lunch. Â Average food and service. Â I don't recommend being in view of the food preparation area. Â Looked a bit shady to me. Â If you're just looking for a good sandwich though, you might as well go a few doors down to Little Lucca's.
this place has one of the bestest bar food around....sports bar with screens front to back...even with one waitress working the busy lunch hour..they really run a tight ship...as soon as i sipped away the last drop of my diet coke....*snatch* and....another full diet coke placed on the bar....lumpia is good (assuming it's store bought, but still good)....the bbq pork on skewers were light on the seasoning, but still flavorful and cooked to perfection..salads, burgers, SANDWICHES! and bar food galore....eat eat eat..it's good eats...
meal cost a skip over $10...maybe $15 if you drink a beer....but well worth a visit....from the outside..the tinted dark windows may shy you away...but once inside...you'll see that it's filled with people during lunch or dinner...
