Is it the best food in town... No... Is it a damn good grub joint with an excellent beer selection... YES.

Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for good fresh local seafood no matter where I am, but this place was very good.  My fish was only slightly overdone, but it was still flake and delicious.  The menu was bigger than I expected, but when I'm out, I rarely get much past the nightly specials anyway.  I did try the baked oysters, and even though they not not as good as peg-leg pete's in P-Cola, they are very good (and HUUGE).

The staff was extremely friendly, and being a beer snob, I enjoyed the fact that Mother Earth Brewing (local establishment) actually brews a pilsner specifically for Mosquito's.

Topped the evening off with a Key Lime pie that is made form scratch, butter and graham cracker crust, that complemented the tartness.

Oddly enough I thought enough of this place to head back a second time before bolting out of town... yeah... it was just as good and fun the second time around.

We went on a recent trip to Atlantic Beach. It was for two of our family member's birthdays. We heard that it was an incredible restaurant from a taxi driver so we decided to give it a try. We got there at around 8:15 and waited close to an hour to be seated. We walked from our rental house (close to a mile) so we really didn't want to walk all the way back empty handed. The place is really cool inside, with spanish moss hanging from the ceiling. One thing that did surprise me was how involved management is in the restaurant. A manager was dealing with the waiting list while we were waiting. For the birthdays, they brought out complimentary s'mores, which was pretty cool. Never seen that before.

However, wasn't too impressed with a few aspects. First, the wait was painful. We had a 15 month old with us and he started getting very ornery after the first 30 minutes and I really can't blame him. They do not have call ahead seating or reservations, which really surprised me. I do believe they could control their wait times with the reservations. I went to the bar to get a drink but was pretty much ignored by the two bar tenders. I couldn't even get a bar menu. So, I went back out to the waiting area.  When we got to table, finally, the waitress came and introduced herself with an obviously fake name. Turns out that the management wants customers to get a "southern" feel of things so the staff goes by stupid "southern" nicknames. Not exactly what you expect from a restaurant where the food is around $20 a plate. The meal was good. I don't eat fish so I got their vegetarian alfredo and garden salad. It wasn't worth the $21 total I paid ($16 for the entree and $5 for the side salad). The rest of the party enjoyed their meals. No complaints about the food itself. Just the price for the food. We went to bars in the area with better seafood, much better prices, and little to no crowds.

All in all, probably won't go back there again to eat. They did have cute tourist shirts...might go back and get one of those.

We went with the recommendations of other users and had the lobster dip and shrimp and grits. We didn't regret that for a second!! Everything we had was delicious and the staff was wonderful. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait and we were sitting at a table within 25 minutes. Highly recommended for everyone including those with kids.  Fun kids menu selection.
