This past Saturday, my friend and I wanted to get a bite to eat and have a few drinks before the Jason Aldean show and we stopped at Amrheins. I have to say I was very impressed. The food was good - I had the hamburger and fries - and the service was fantastic. What impressed me the most was the warm and jovial ambiance set by the bartender. He was so friendly and personable and had us laughing. His irish accent was an added bonus! Â Typically, I am a Guinness girl but he suggested I try a Guinness w/ raspberry.. mmmm it was so yummy. Â When I go out around town I find that the service has become quite mediocre and impersonable. Staff interact and tend to the basic needs of their customers - never going above and beyond. Â This experience stood out in that the bartender at Amrheins created an atmosphere in which I felt attended to, charmed and satisfied (even though he had a full bar!). Â He was consistent in his service to all of his customers and created a positive environment that will keep everyone coming back for more. What a very pleasant experience.
Review Source:I need to respond to Don D's comments because they are not correct.
I have been to Amrheins at least 9 times over the nine years that I've lived here. Â In my opinion before the renovations, the food was decent. Â The 4-5 times that I went there for business lunches and for dinner the food was good, reasonably priced, and service was good.
After the renovations, the food has not been consistent, the prices have increased, and the service is haphazard. Â The example of the clam pizza being brought out raw happened within the past 6 - 8 months. Â It did not happen years ago. Â After we informed the waitress, so was completely embarrassed and apologetic. Â We told her we didn't want it and to take it off the bill. Â Instead they tried to make up for it by bringing us out another pizza and not charging us.
Like I said before Amrheins is not a place that I will be frequenting since there are so many other comparable restaurants in the neighborhood with better food and comparable prices. Â The only thing that I might go back and try is the brunch. Again someone had said to me this weekend that the brunch is good. Â I would not be surprised since I love Mul's Diner across the street who is owned by the same people as Amrheins!
