It is a rare occasion that I decide to go to a fast food chain restaurant. Â I was on a road trip from Michigan to Chicago and decided that I wanted some junk food. Â I had not had Arby's in a long time so I went looking for one. Â Searching online revealed that Arby's is pretty rare... at least compared to McDonalds and Burger King.
This Arby's was a little way off the expressway, but I was determined to get a beef and cheddar and some curly fries.
The layout of this place was typical Arby's. Â Everything appeared to be clean and organized upon casual inspection. Â I found it odd that there was a TV in this Arby's, but maybe that is more common in fast food places these days.
The first thing I noticed was that the menu had changed since I had last ordered a beef and cheddar. Â I don't know how long it has been, but there are now "sizes" of sandwiches. Â But since there was no quantitative measurement, I didn't really know whether I wanted the small, medium, or large. Â The pictures helped a little, so eventually I went with the small.
A short wait and I received my sandwich and fries. Â I went over to the condiments counter to pump some Horsey sauce. (Get your mind out of the gutter.) Â Unfortunately, the pump was broken and I couldn't get anything significant out of it to fill those tiny paper cups. Â In frustration I went back to the counter to report it and they handed me two packets of Horsey Sauce. Â The girl seemed unconcerned about the broken dispenser. Â For the record, I hate the little packets. Â I hate tearing them open, and I hate trying to extract the contents from them.
Moving along to my meal. Â My beef and cheddar was just as I expected. Â The super processed "roast beef" was as tender and salty as I had remembered. Â It tasted good with the BBQ and Horsey sauce mixed on it.
My curly fries were served hot and tasty as well. Â Unfortunately I got fewer "curlies" than I would have liked, with the majority of my fries being the "bits" as I call them.
Before hitting the road, I stopped in the restroom to wash up and give back some of the pop. Â The urinal wouldn't flush and the stall door seemed to be stuck so I couldn't use the toliet. Â I was not pleased by the conditions. Â After the apathy regarding the sauce dispenser, I didn't bother to report the restroom conditions.
I hit the road with mixed feelings about Arby's.
