Archie Moore's Bar & Restaurant

I've come here several times over the years and have never been disappointed. Burgers, wraps, wing and dessert is all delicious.

Only down side is that service is usually slow. There have been times I've been there with only a few other tables full and we'd have to wait way to long too for a refill on drinks or extra napkins.

Given where Archie Moore's is in the world, It's pretty good. I mean, no one looks for New England's best bars in Derby, Connecticut, that's for certain. The wings, their signature item, are very good. They're certainly not TK's wings, simple as that. But they're a solid choice.

I guess you come here for the venue above all else. This is an enormous bar for sure, with lots of room to mingle with the gorgeous girls and handsome gents of the Connecticut River Valley, also known as the "Jersey Shore" of Connecticut.

[Okay fine, I just made that up. It's entirely appropriate though...]

I think I'd still prefer Danny O's overall for the best bar in this general area, but if you get sick of hanging around the tattooed halfwits there, you can always hop across the bridge and hang with the tattooed halfwits at Archie's.

As others have mentioned, Archie Moore's has the best wings in Connecticut, period. They are meaty, friend to perfection, crispy and smothered in a tangy flavorful buffalo wing sauce. The sauce is mild but I don't miss the extra heat because man, these things are just delicious. Honestly, why can't anyone else figure out how to get a crispy buffalo wing? The blue cheese on the side is fantastic and house made as well.

I have been here plenty of times and have never been disappointed in their sandwiches, burgers, salads etc. But hubby and I ALWAYS order 14 wings to share. Last time I got a salad special which was an maple walnut apple chicken salad. It was unique and just delicious. And the portion size? Insanely HUGE for a salad. A satisfying entree with fresh greens, amazing homemade dressing and plenty of chicken.

My mom's go to is the Bar Burger. She's tried to recreate it herself but swears there is just something special about the Bar Burger from Archie Moore's.

Service is always speedy and friendly, even when they are busy.
