I have been to this establishment a few times now after getting off the train at the end of the day with a couple friends. Every time I have gone it has been pretty decent. Standard bar food, okay selection of beer on taps, and a generally local bar kind of feel to it. The wings are pretty good but I don't know if they should be raved about as much as I have heard, maybe it is a local pride kind thing. The burger I got one time was also good but pretty much like any burger at any bar or pub I have been to.
The inside of the restaurant and bar is a little dark and cramped, especially the bar. It is a very tiny bar area, so there is not much room if it gets crowded. The good part is there is a very large outside area with its own bar for nicer days. I have yet to go there while it is nice out or at night so I am unsure how the scene is in the evening.
I give this bar an A-OK because that is exactly what it is. I will also inevitably go back at some point after a long day at work. Would recommend for a quick and cheap bite to eat and a couple beers.
If you love wings, this is definitely a top place to go.  The wings are meaty and the sauce is delicious.  If you want anything else, it's nothing special.  I've been to four different Archie Moore's and this seems to be the case for them all, but this location does have a nice deck for outdoor seating that may edge it out (although I like the rear patio/bar at Derby).  On my most recent visit today, for example, my party had: wings (excellent), sweet potato fries (excellent), a salad with chicken and fruit (OK), nachos (poor - stale chips and greasy cheese), and kid's mac and cheese (deplorable - it was clearly Easy  Mac.  Kid's menu or not if I order mac and cheese in a restaurant I do not expect microwavable powdered cheese monstrosity).  So on the average I'd say 2 stars for the food, but 3 overall for the nice deck/atmosphere.
Review Source:Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't find Archie's wings to be anything special. Pretty average stuff. Definitely competent, and sure beats Hooter's - but not particularly a stand-out when you stack them against a lot of other wing offerings in the area.
And that kind of sets the standard for the rest of the food - average pub fare. A step above your national-chain-type pub fare, sure. Competent, but nothing to make this an eating destination in any way.
The best thing about this location is the outdoor area and bar. It's really nice in the summer, and I've eaten here several times with friends just for the patio. Drinks are reasonably priced, and for the most part the crowd is decent - the occasional group of meatheads notwithstanding.
I'd recommend this location during warm weather months for that reason alone.
I am an avid fan of the Archie Moore brand. Â The wing sauce is delicious, and so is the buffalo chicken dip!! But, the quality of their food has really gone down. Â The wings are skinny, with not much meat on them. Â The dining area is usually left a little dirty and messy during the busy dining hours. Â The wait staff used to be top notch, but in the past year or so they have become a little rude. Â We used to frequent this Archie's but now we go to Crush down the street or Citrus.
Review Source:Three & Â a Half skewing high in hopes of bumping up the collective rating to that...
First speaking solely of the wings;  The hype is legitimate they themselves are without question 4 +star quality.  They were consistent every time, perfectly fried with an excellent sauce to wing ratio.  I can't say whether the claims that they are the best in the state are legitimate however, as I haven't made it to nearly enough noteworthy wing joints in CT yet.  That being said, they are damn good wings and if you are a wing fan you definitely need to try them @ least once.  That being said, just stick with the wings, nothing else I have tried, i.e. burgers, sandwiches and the like have been better than simply all right.  The rolls were  particularly unfortunate, too bready in a bad way .  Come for the wings and don't veer too far off that path particularly during happy hour when they are half off
As for this particular location;  It gets the extra half star push (over Fairfield, the only other branch I have been to at the time of this review), for a few reasons.  One, the beer selection is slightly better (though still nothing to write home about).  Besides that the place has a nice large outdoor space that I would imagine is good in the warmer months, and, foremost it is located basically in the literal heart of Milford, a zero pretension town that I really dug.  FYI Dan Patrick's studio is right across the street and the people from the show supposedly pop in quite often, and namedrop the wings on the show.
We go there or get take-out every now and then. Good wings and the food as a whole is fine. My problem was just with tonight. Got seated, waited, waited, waited...lots of waiting but nobody waiting on us. You'd think we were invisible. Tables around us were seated and served. It probably won't keep me from going there or ordering take-out again, but it still sucks.
Review Source:This place is loud, obnoxious and just plain ol' ugly but the food is actually not bad. We ordered nachos grande, mini burgers and sweet potato fries which all came out pretty addicting. I'm only giving 3 stars because the place is quite run down, and way tooo loud ( i understand its practically a bar but not being able to hear the waiter is a bit much)
Review Source:Could be a 2 1/2 but it's nothing special. Â It seems more like a party/bar type of place than a place to really sit down & have food. Â Typical greasy burgers/apps with a decent sized bar area. Â TV's are nice & big with a cool outside patio.
Location is great (right next to the harbor) but if you want a nice sit down meal, pass on Archie Moore's & try SBC or something up the road instead. Â
We had the Bison Burger, Cuban Italian Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Wrap & some apps. Â Nothing really more to say.
I've always liked Archie's. Yes the food is simple and the service can be a little spotty at times but it's just a place that I dig.
At Archie's I've had good burgers, buffalo wings, buffalo tenders, buffalo chicken nachos and some of the best blue cheese dip around. My fiance and I once asked for extra blue cheese for our tenders and they brought out a mug and a side dixie cup of blue cheese......A MUG AND A SIDE DIXIE CUP OF BLUE CHEESE. We were both horrified and giddy with glee at the same time.
If you're a fan of buffalo stuff then this is definitely your place. They don't have the best wings ever like some have stated, but they are definitely a step up from most others.
I highly recommend Archie's for a quick lunch on the cheap. If you dig outside seating in the summer then this place is for you as well.
Try the buffalo chicken nachos and never pass up a side of their sweet potato fries.
I only go to this place in the summer....and only because there are so many other bars right around it. The food is okay....generally I just get the buffalo tenders(don't call them boneless wings!! They aren't wings!!). It's nice to be able to hang out on the patio in the early summer/late spring weather and just chill with friends. But would I go for a bondafida meal with my friends or family? Nope!
Review Source:Allow me to qualify this by noting:
A) I hardly ever go to bars.
B) I don't drink that often.
Needless to say, I've been here a few times. As a matter of fact, I had my bachelorette party here. The food is average pub fare. I've had a decent gardenburger and fries from Archie's. Plus, their drink prices are pretty reasonable, when you compare it to SBC or Stonebridge. Also, I like the fact they have a very large outdoor area where you can hang out when it's warm.
Overall, it's a decent, relaxed place to hang out. Just watch out for their mixed drinks! I didn't know what hit me the next day. Man, they were strong!
It's essentially the same mediocre food as the New Haven location, but I don't know how the wings compare, because I don't really give a crap. The only time I eat wings is when they are free or when I am watching a major sporting event.
I definitely enjoy being at this location much more than the one in New Haven. This one has more room and a huge outdoor patio, which is money during the summer.
They definitely get a pretty good young crowd when it's warm outside, and the vibe is a lot more relaxed than at SBC or Stonebridge without sacrificing the amount of decent looking people.
