Great place to watch a game.
    Great service and cheap burgers.

I came here with a couple friends for $1 Burger Monday. It was surprising that they check Ids, because the place isn't very bumpin' from what I could tell. Also, only one of the burger options are $1, all of the rest are the same price. Unfortunately, I am a pescetarian and don't eat beef, so I ordered the slightly more expensive veggie burger. The waitress seemed a little unfriendly and when we asked if they had a drink menu she said that they were mostly a beer place and they didn't have a list. One of my friends and I walked away from our booth to see what they had on tap and then had to wait for her to come back. When the food came the fries were decent, but I did not like the veggie burger at all. I relieved a strange flavored falafel with peppers that fell apart in the bun covered in garlic sauce. It was not what I was expecting at all, but I like falafel and gave it a chance. After two bites I felt really dizzy and nauseous. I don't know if it was one of the ingredients, but I had to leave. One of the people I was with said that she decided to try a bite of the veggie burger after I left and she said it crumbled under her fork and had an awful smell. I don't know if this evening was a fluke, but I definitely was not wowed by the experience. This place is neither upscale or a dive bar. There are much better places in Allston to find a good selection of cheap beers.

I used to think of The Avenue as kind of a joke when about 8-10 years ago it was primarily known to me as a dollar draft spot, but after my most recent meal its definitely one of my favorite places for a good cheaply priced greasy burger.

I got The Double Cry Baby which used to be known as Animalized before a west coast burger chain threatened to sue them. It was beautiful. It was greasy, juicy, and very filling. That with a side of Sweet Potato Tots, and a Slumbrew Porter Square Porter (which was on tap), and I'm stuffed. Price before tip came to $12.46

Also important to note that a Plain Jane Burger on Mondays, and after 10pm every other day of the week is $1.

    Definitely recommend this place.
