Since my last review in March, this place has really went downhill. Â The service is slow and you often have to repeat yourself as to avoid them getting the order wrong. Â In addition, their menu changes which is fine, but lately the menu items have been lackluster. Â The chili is usually very greasy with a thick layer of oil on top, and the last time I got a salad the portion was decreased with overcooked hardboiled eggs and very dry meat. Â It's sad because this used to be a place I would hit once or twice a week for lunch, but honestly the vending machine is even a better choice than this.
Review Source:I lover discovering a good lunch place! Dinner may be a staple and breakfast is the new hot meal, but dammit, lunch, in the middle of the day, is awesome. And I had an equally fantastic meal at Aynie's, worthy of a lunch time stop.
This café is tucked away in the Rivercenter, to the point where if you didn't know it was there, you'd never find it. That's a real shame, because the food is cheap and delicious.
Walk up the stairs into the building and turn to the right - there it is behind those glass doors. A cafeteria filled with goodness. The nice thing about Aynie's (pronounced like "Annie's," by the way, but with a German spelling) is everything is made fresh and everything is always changing. They have soups and salads and specials going on every day of the week.
I happened to be there for Taco Salad day, which is of course what I got (who doesn't love taco salad!) It was good too - fresh meat and vegetables and delicious sauce. The only thing I wasn't really happy with was that they gave you a mini-bag of tortilla chips to mix in. It somehow took away from the homemade feel of it all. Ah well.
Anyie's feels like a cafeteria, so the atmosphere is minimal. However, there is a gorgeous view of the bridge and Cincinnati right outside the giant windows. That was fantastic.
Unfortunately, River Center just isn't anywhere I go often (and paying for parking outside is truly annoying). However, if I'm ever back this side of the river again and it's nearing mid-day, I'm stopping in for more bites. Huzzah lunch.
