Saw a show here last night. The bartenders were super nice, welcoming, and helpful. I drove down by myself, from Jacksonville, to see the musician scheduled (Ben Prestage, an amazing young delta blues musician). When I got there, I was hungry--but they don't serve food.
So the bartenders sent me to a local Irish pub (Tayton O'Brians) for scotch eggs. I came back, and thirty minutes later the show was starting, and I had made friends with Andie & Shelly, two women who came to see Ben too. Soon everyone was dancing, and having a great time. The bartenders were super attentive, and friendly, always coming around to clear empty glasses, make sure we were having a good time.
I drove back home to Jacksonville, happy, having found exactly what I was looking for: a fun little impromptu evening out, surrounded by good music and nice people.
Beachside Tavern is where the locals go. Â They always have live music, and the bar staff is friendly and quick. Â In the winter they have fire pit tables, which really add to the atmosphere but they do go quick. Â They've got plenty of beer on tap, as well as a large bottle selection and a full bar. Â The music varies from cover bands to local ska, punk, bluegrass, and alternative. Â If you're in the Daytona area Beachside Tavern is worth the trip - it will get you away from all the touristy, overcrowded bars in the downtown Daytona area.
