If you do not like Ohio State, this is probably not the best bar for you to go to.
Beano's Buckeye Ballroom is one of the few bars open on Sundays in Loudonville, so we decided to go there to watch the Tribe game. As the name suggests, Beano is a HUGE tOSU fan. His bar has more memorabilia supporting Ohio State, and to a lesser extent, the Cleveland Indians, than any bar I've ever been to -- even including those in Columbus. He also served in the Marines, and displays all of his medals in the bar, including three Purple Hearts.
The first thing I noticed about this restaurant was how inexpensive the food and drinks were. Everything on the menu except for the Beano Burger, Beano's trademark burger, was under $4. Burgers didn't come served with fries, but you could get fries and burgers for something like $5. I ordered the Jalapeno Poppers and the Beano Burger. The poppers were deep fried, although I think it needed to be breaded a little bit more. There was more cheese and less heat than I would have liked, so overall it was merely average. The Beano Burger, which came with cheese, a large chunk of ham, and bacon on a hamburger, was superb. I felt like when combined, the burger tasted like one of the better bar offerings I have had in my life; however, that opinion changed when the ham and bacon were gone. The burger meat itself tasted like meatloaf. While meatloaf can be good when cooked the proper way, it normally tastes bland. The burger needed to stand out a bit more.
Service here was good, but I would simply come back here just to check out all the memorabilia.
