Great little restaurant with a real Polish feel. Look for coupons!

We saw a groupon for The Belvedere and thought we would try it out. We also read some reviews as we dine out often and like to try new places. Several reviews mention the temperature of the restaurant being extremely warm but noted the food being good.

Upon arrival it seemed very cute and intimate. We noticed right away that it was super hot but tried not to be bothered by it. We ordered the sample dish along with a bottle of wine. We were taken back by the image of the waitress who looked like she was wearing pajama pants and had flip flops on. I'm pretty sure that is not dress code for a restaurant.

After taking our order she went into the kitchen. Moments later we heard a microwave door and  beeps  from time being entered into it. we chuckled and thought maybe they were making food for them selves. She came out from the kitchen and began looking at her phone leaning on the bar. It was very quiet in the restaurant and no music was being played.

When our food came out we asked what everything was. With no real explanation she pointed to a few items saying the kind a sausage that was on the plate and pointed to the potato dumpling and walked away. The amount of food for two people should have been for 4 people. I found it to be a waste. The perogies were soggy. I'm guessing thats what was put into the microwave.

The waitress gave a look our way to see if we needed anything but didn't make an effort to come to the table and ask if everything was good. While still looking at her phone leaning on the bar. We barely finished all the food that was on the platter. It was warm not hot. It tasted like everything was heated in a microwave. There was no flavor to the food at all.

We were super disappointed with the whole experience. Of course the only reason we went in was because we had a Groupon. We wont recommend nor return.

Want a meal filled with meat and more meat? If yes, then go here.
We had reservations before going to the movies and it worked out perfectly. After ordering a yummy vodka drink that tasted like apply pie we started with salads, then Plackis and lastly the Taste of Belvedere. This is a sampler platter under the appetizer section, but is large enough to feed 4 and had a bit of all the best- sausage, pierogi, meatballs, schnitzel and even some veggies. We had leftovers for 2 more meals.
They must get a lot of groupon/living social deals because they asked us if we had one upon sitting down, which we did. Give this place a try. They even had live music the night we were there.

So much great meat! I've been there a number of times since my last review and this place keeps getting better and better. I love the atmosphere and the food is awesome. They have a steady flow of business for both lunch and dinner (on the weekends) but you can still get a seat. I suggest the appetizer sampler. it a great start and you probably won't need anything besides that.

What a random place to stumble upon.  In town for a conference, I was looking for something to eat that was off the 16th street drag and found this. Fairly priced for the serving size and quaint, it was a great low-key choice. I had an appetizer-- a hunter's dish (the real name escapes me) that had sourkraut and keilbasa and potatoes (what more do you want?)--that served juuust fine as a full meal and was delightful. The older man on a piano in the corner providing music was just another level of character that made me smile. The service is a bit brusque, but knowledgeable and everything came out of the kitchen in a timely, warm and delicious manner. Not the best Polish food I've ever had, but still delightful.

Let me start by saying that this is another one of those instances where I really wish I could assign 1/2 stars.  The food was easily a 4, but the service was slow, slow, slow.  Though we were there during the Parade of Lights, so it's probably not always quite that slow.

I am definitely a sucker for some good eastern European food.  I grew up with Pierogis and Kielbasa every holiday, along with stuffed cabbage (in my house, we referred to these as "piggies") for dinner on occasion.  I never realized until I was an adult exactly how much I love this kind of food.

Belvedere did not disappoint with their menu selections.  The Golbaki was amazing - it ranks right up there among the best I've ever had (sorry mom!), loaded with tender well seasoned pork and rice.  The sauce was just right, not too runny and it didn't taste like it was just tomato juice dumped out of a can like it sometimes does.  I really enjoyed the Belvedere salad as well, you can't go wrong with feta and tomatoes in my book!  It was a simple combination - feta, tomatoes, cucumbers and scallions lightly dressed with a bit of olive oil a bit of lemon.  Fresh and tasty.

For my entree, I opted for the Kielbasa with mashed potatoes.  Or as they call them here, mushed potatoes.  This was also delicious, although a little bit of Kielbasa goes a long way.  The entree was served with 2 good sized pieces of sausage stuffed with Gouda.  The Gouda added a little something special to an already delicious sausage.  The potatoes and hot sauerkraut on the side made were both great as well.  The potatoes were spiced with a bit of dill, which was a nice touch and the sauerkraut/potato mixture was delicious.

The drink menu looked pretty interested, although we stuck to basic vodka cocktails.  I figure you can't really go wrong with vodka at a Polish restaurant!  I will definitely venture back down here again next time I'm craving some good polish food, and I suspect our service will be much better next time.

We ate dinner here last Friday evening.  Last Friday evening was also the Parade of Lights in Denver, and Belvedere was on the parade route.  Unfortunately, the timing of the parade negatively affected the service that night, but the food was great, so I will happily go back and update my review.

We started with the Golabki  in tomato sauce - cabbage roll stuffed with pork and rice.  The Golabki here is probably the best that I had in the metro.  I highly recommend it.

Next, we had the Belvedere Side Salad, which was tasty but nothing special - tomato, cucumber, fresh onions and feta cheese served with olive oil & red vinegar. I ordered mine without onions and had to send the first one back.  When the replacement arrived 10 minutes later, they included the bitter end of the cucumber, so I was slightly disappointed, but truth be told, I was not expecting anything special to begin with.

She had the Traditional Red Kielbasa with dill mashed potatoes - grilled homemade polish sausage stuffed with Gouda cheese topped with salted onions and served with hot sauerkraut.  The kielbasa had a great smoky flavor and the Gouda added something special. We saw the sausage appetizer platter and would probably order the kielbasa as an appetizer next time - Polish style cold cut sausages, brie & Gouda cheese, red marinated peppers, kalamata olives and baby dill pickle - as it looked great and there are so many other great things on the menu.

I had the Rabbit in Sour Cream Sauce - oven baked rabbit in lightly sour cream dill sauce dished up with battered carrot & pea salad.  I thought that the rabbit was excellent, kind of like a cross between chicken and turkey if you can imagine that,  Be careful it has tiny bones.  I am not a big fan of peas, but if you like them the pea & carrot salad is great as is the sour cream sauce.  I ordered the mashed potatoes, but got roasted red potatoes with rosemary.  Even though they were not what I ordered, they were really good.  Service was so slow that night because of the parade and the staff trying to control the bathroom poachers.  I did get a few bites of her dill mashed potatoes and recommend them.  They would have been been great with that sauce.

I would like to go back on a normal night and try a few more appetizers and also try the pierogis.  I expect that with better service, this could easily be a 4 star restaurant.

I was glad to see so many good reviews of this place. My sisters and I stumbled upon it last night while walking to see the Christmas lights on the City and County building. Its cozy warmth beckoned to us through the windows, and from there we fell in love. Who knew we loved Polish food?! The atmosphere was a welcome change from all the other downtown "hipness". We ordered several appetizers to share, none of which disappointed. I think our favorite though was the chicken livers on toast in a chardonnay sauce of capers and sauteed onions--a flavor to die for! The white borscht was also a winner, as was the fried brie.

The hands-down favorite entree was the Polish meatball dish. The flavor was out of this world. When you get a hankering for comfort food, i.e., meat and potatoes, put this place at the top of your list. They also had some wonderfully delicious fruit infused Polish potato vodka drinks. I can't wait to go back on some cold, snowy night.

P.S. Our waitress was the sweetest. She made great recommendations for food and drink.

I liked it.  It was a nice change compared to our usual choice in styles/places.

It's a tricky location so I am glad to see they are staying in business.  Near 14th and Tremont does not exactly put a place in the middle of the action.

Our table (4 of us) was in the back on a raised section with one other table.  Unfortunately, the lighting was terrible and made my initial impression a bit mixed.  They tried to lower the intensity of the spotlights glaring in our eyes but it only partially worked.  I was also a little worried I might crush the chair.  At 6'2 250, it was iffy for sure.  In my days of sketchy carousing, I would've called these bar-fightn chairs.  Easy to wield with one hand.

Anyway, service was delivered by nice young ladies but was spotty at best.  They were scattered to say the least.

Food was excellent!  While we were fully prepared for somewhat heavier dishes, we were pleasantly surprised that we didn't feel overly weighed-down.  Yeah, rustic heavier food, but not over the top or "gloppy" (technical term).

We are very familiar with Eastern EU dishes and my friend is an old-school Polish man you could imagine wrestling in a cold barn in the 50's for blood money...so I expected him to be somewhat critical.  He was thumbs-up all the way.

Stroganoff soup - Great, White Borscht - Excellent, Salad of cucumber, tomato, and green onion - Good (not great).

We ordered what was essentially a sampler plate.  It's under appetizers and made for a HUGE dinner for two of us.  It was a really excellent.  I mean, this is basic food done in a straight-forward manner and delivers what you expect.  Very solid and not one dish was really disappointing.

So, other than being a bit slow and service feeling oddly timed, it was really a good experience.  Just feels like a small place where they may not be all that used to operating a restaurant...sorta that feel.  But again, it was truly a very nice change form the overly slick coolio-cool vibe that is SO prevalent in today's Denver.

I will absolutely return...soon. Of course, I have to say...if the service was even slightly worse or the servers were not so pleasant, it would've killed it for me.  Right on the edge in that regard.

We went about a month ago for dinner using a Groupon.  I had an Open Table reservation, but it wasn't very crowded for a Saturday night.  There are a lot of small rooms and levels to have an intimate dinner.  The service was good.  We saw different servers bring us food and water.  The salmon appetizer was appealing and tasty. I would order it again. The entree portions were generous.  We both had leftovers.  We've had better Polish food.

Groupon brought us here on a recent Colorado vacation. I highly recommend the liver and toast appetizer, its absolutely delicious. The house salads are also great, I love the cheese and olive combination. My husband had the duck and I cant remember my dishes name! It was delicious sausage and sauerkraut. We liked the ambiance, our waiter was friendly, and the location is great. Overall we would definitely recommend it!

The food was okay, thought I have had much better borscht and pierogies. We got the Appetizer sampler. I could have forgiven the quality of food, but the SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. Our waitress took a long time to get to us, and then wasn't friendly. We waited half an hour or more to receive the two soups that came with the meal. When we asked her when we could expect the food, she was dismissive and seemed annoyed. Isn't it appropriate to wonder why we're sitting for over half an hour with absolutely no food? It would have been much better had they brought the soup right away so we weren't starving.
Also, there was either a cockroach or some similar kind of bug crawling on the wall next to me, which didn't help the whole experience.
I overheard the couple next to us wondering why it was taking so long and why the server was inattentive, so it wasn't just us.

A friend bought the groupon for 4 to the Belvedere and we went last night.  I really wanted to like the place but wasn't sure what to expect after reading the mixed reviews on yelp.  I take all reviews with a grain of salt and wanted to give this place a  chance.

It was quiet last night, only about 3 tables the entire time.  They were out of the beers and wine we asked for so we all had to order something different than what we wanted.  We decided to go with two appetiziers, the potato pancakes and the cabbage roll with mushroom sauce.  Both came out of the kitchen hot and were really tasty.  I thought things were looking up after we couldn't get the beers and wine we all wanted.  Then we all got the house sald - a cucumber, feta and oninion mixture, it was ok.  Two people in our party ordered entrees - the rabbit might have been the best meal anyone ordered.  The duck entree was extremely dry.  The other two of us split the Belvedere platter - let me warn you now it's a lot of meat, and it came out cold!  I've definitely had better polish food and with the slow night our meals should have been hot.

The food reminds of something made by a Polish grandmother. It's yummy, simple, and quite flavorful. Keep in mind that it's Polish, so it's heavy on meat and potatoes, but it's OK to indulge once a while. We had the red borscht and some rabbit dish. The borscht is not what I expected. It's a meat pierogi (traditional dumplings) soup that has a strong red wine vinegar taste. While it's delicious I didn't see any beets. The rabbit was flavorful and tender. It seems like they probably used canned peas for rabbit dish but it's still good. Service is fast and friendly. Seating is intimate and comfortable. There are two levels of seating in the restaurant. One is 4-5 steps higher than the other. The restroom is very cute. There is a Polish doll on the door that indicates woman's and man's. Belvedere is on Groupon now, so take advantage of the affordable price.

Was there last night for dinner. My prime objective of the visit was to find goulash but that didn't happen. Someone posted a review on yelp for this place that praised the goulash there so I assumed they were serving it, which they weren't last night or no longer, didn't ask.

Otherwise, I tried the sampler plate and enjoyed everything on the plate. Service was great, waitress kept my glass refilled and checked on me several times. I am going to be visiting this place again in the near future with out a doubt.

Oh and the beef stroganoff (sp) was really tasty.

I am so glad that I used the Groupon I bought for this restaurant! Some restaurants can be a hit or miss. Belvedere is a quaint and charming little restaurant that transports the diner to a cozy cottage like environment, somewhere in an enchanted Eastern European land, where the customer dines by candlelight.  We chose the Taste of Belvedere, which gives a sampling of the most popular menu items.  The food was absolutely delicious, with savory and comforting flavors, that leave you elated. Further, the staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I loved my dining experience, as did my boyfriend. I hadn't had Polish food before, but it is quite similar to German food, which I also love. Can't wait for Octoberfest!  :-)

We tried this place with a groupon deal and it exceeded all our expectations!  The decor is very European and cozy.  The service staff is helpful and friendly.  The food and beer are delicious!  We started with Bigos and a Polish salad.   The Hunter stew (bigos) usually consists of cabage and meat, came instead with sausage and some yummy bread.   Even though it didn't come with potatoes and the bread wasn't rye, we still found it very delicious.  The salad was a tomato, cucumber and feta salad, which was nice and fresh.  For the main meal we shared a Belvedere platter consisting of 2 whole sausages, potato+cheese pirogi, meat pirogi, meat loaf (extra yummy!), stuffed cabage, mashed potatoes, yogurt cucumbers, green beans and some extra hunter sauce.  Needless to say... we had lots of leftovers! :D

This is an elegant restaurant that serves authentic Polish food. The service is great and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We enjoyed a three-course meal with a Groupon. The smoked salmon appetizer platter was refreshingly light and made a nice lead-in to the meal. The side salad was also light and fresh, but had a little too much feta cheese for my taste (1/3 tomato, 1/3 cucumber, 1/3 cheese). We had the roasted duck and oven-roasted rabbit for our entrees. The duck was delightfully moist and flavorful, as was the rabbit, but the rabbit entree was drenched in a sour cream sauce that overpowered the lightly steamed vegetable on the plate. Other than this, the food was great. We would definitely visit again if we had another Groupon or deal.

    Yumminess and a great location!

Super convenient for downtowners, but also in its own little world. This place is quaint and quite enjoyable! I have been here a hand full of times and had consistently good service and tasty food. I have also sampled a variety of beers and wines, all great!

They have been slowly improving upon each visit. They have fancy water glasses and bottles w/candles in them to improve the ambiance. The food has always been good, and I am certain I will return when I get a craving for that Schnitzel!

This was my first Polish food experience. I took my sister in law who is half Polish and grew up eating Polish food, and my son for his 16th Birthday. She said the food was very good, some of the best she has had eating Polish out. My son LOVED it ad they gave him a free dessert for his Bday. Definitely going back.

Fantastic flavors and great atmosphere. Patio is covered with flowers and the street does not really seem that noisy (maybe cause its noon). Specifically ordered the half schnitzel sandwich and half cup of white borscht soup. Flavors for days and everything is very fresh. Receipt even comes in a small wooden treasure chest :). Recommended. Definitely try Belvedere!

I really, really wanted to like Belvedere.  Really, I did.  But, I just couldn't.

When I spotted a google offer, I jumped at it figuring it would finally motivate me to try this place.  I've been wanting to get in here ever since it opened.  I really enjoyed the space when it was Cafe Berlin and was excited to try Polish food.

A friend and I dined on a Friday night.  We called and made a reservation, yet still managed to be seated at a table where one chair literally was in the hallway.  My poor friend was bumped in to multiple times during our visit, by both other patrons and by staff.  Why they would even place a table there baffles me, but the fact that we were seated there when there were numerous other tables available points towards poor customer service.  And, for some reason, everyone dining at that time was packed in to one of the small dining rooms rather than spacing us out throughout the restaurant (it's not like the restaurant is that big).  This also lessened our comfort level.  To top it all off, it was HELLA hot in the restaurant.  When we mentioned it to our server, she said something to the effect of "yeah, it's hot - the AC is on, but with the windows open it's hard to cool the place down" and then she walked off.  Um, hello?  Then maybe it would be a good idea to close the windows???  As we were eating our heavy Polish meal, of course we just continued to get more hot.  I was dripping sweat.  When our server came back I asked if she could turn the ceiling fan on (to which she replied that it was broken).  I then asked if maybe they could close the windows so the AC would have an impact.  She closed the three windows in our little dining room, but the windows in the rest of the restaurant and the front door were still open.  Really?!  Even if the food had been outstanding, we would have doubtfully returned due to the atmosphere and the service.

The food was ok, but not great.  It certainly did not meet our expectations, so was disappointing.  We started with the pierogi sampler.  They were okay, but none of the filling flavors was truly flavorful.  The Polish sausage with gouda left me with flavors of mostly grease and salt rather than yummy meat and cheese.  The potato pancake covered with goulash was the best thing of the night IMO.  The potato pancake had some lovely crispy spots and some of the goulash meat was very tender and delicious (but other pieces were mostly gristle).  However, it also was too salty.

For this type of food, I will stick with Cafe Berlin (German) and SoBo 151 (Czech).  My experience at Belvedere just didn't measure up with either of those places.

Okay - so I had to give this three stars, when I was originally going to give it 4.

I bought a groupon for this place, and so we decided to try to check it out. I enjoyed our meal, we tried the chicken livers, both had the belvedere salad, the boyfriend had the schniztel with hunters sauce, and I had the meatballs with paprika. I enjoyed the food and the service very much. There was only one waitress but she was super friendly and attentive. We even a nice gentleman playing the keyboard during our dining experience.

So the catch.... after my belly full of super polish comfort food I was talking about how much I enjoyed it. The boyfriend unfortunately broke the news that during the entire meal all he could see was flies and bugs all along the wall behind me... which was where the kitchen was. As much as I am a fan of Andrew Zimmern, I am not a fan of bugs and flies, especially around my meal.

Maybe we'll be back cause the food was good, but there is a good chance we may not be...

Being half Polish, I'm always on the lookout for good food like my babcia used to make.  I'm happy to say that I found some that could pass muster at the Belvedere.

The restaurant decor features wood and lots of it.  The effect is decidedly Eastern European, and fittingly so.  The waitress serving us for the evening was the only one for a while, and although the place wasn't full, she had to hustle.  The restaurant also lacks air conditioning (at least, it wasn't on while we were there on a very warm evening), so dress accordingly.

Our friends had ordered a meat platter and some smoked salmon before we arrived.  The variety of sausages were delicious, and stacking the salmon with the toasted bread and thinly sliced cucumber was divine.

I ordered a glass of cherry-flavored Polish wine with dinner.  For someone with a sweet tooth, like myself, this was the perfect drink.  It had a consistency that was a little closer to a cordial, and the cherry flavor was really smooth, with no aftertaste.

For dinner, I had the golumpki (ground meat and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves and topped with tomato sauce).  These were, in a word, awesome, mainly because they were quite close to my babcia's recipe.  They were also quite filling, and the side of highly buttered, roasted red potatoes took up whatever space was remaining in my belly.  Time to loosen the belt!

I'd love to return to sample more dishes.  I think I'll wait until the weather cools down a little, though.  Eating big, filling meals in a restaurant without air conditioning when it's over 90 degrees was, in retrospect, not the ideal choice.

    The food -

Appetizer: We ordered the kielbasa, sauerkraut and cabbage. It was very yummy!

Side Salads- Garden American - It's a mixed lettuce salad - it was very good and the croutons were yummy!

My bf got the Golabki - aka - Stuffed cabbage - He really didn't care for it too much.

I got the Placek po zbojnicku - potato pancake covered with traditional polish beef goulash. The potato pancake was kind of burnt, but the goulash tasted pretty good.

I actually took my bf here the other night and hind sight, not only were we not given the true option of our Groupon, but I was also overcharged on taxes. The Groupon was for 1 appetizer, 2 side salads AND our choice of either two entrees OR The Taste of Belvedere platter, but we were told that we could either have the appetizer, salads and entrees OR the The Taste of Belvedere platter. If that were the case then our Groupon deal would have really only been worth $36 and not the $62 value mentioned in the advertisement. We had really wanted to try the platter since this was a new place for us to try and we wanted to try various foods, but we were disappointed at what we were told.

The Groupon was $30 for a 3 course meal, not $30 off the bill, so we should have been taxed on a $30 meal, not what the actual total of the meal WOULD have been without the Groupon. Unfortunately, I was lying in bed when that hit me! It was only a little over $2, but it's the fact of the matter.

The plus side - while the waitress gave us wrong information and charged us incorrectly on the bill, she really was attentive and helpful in recommending items on the menu. Of course we were the only people in the restaurant at the time, but she could have ignored us instead of constantly coming back to check on us. So that's a plus.

I probably would have given this a higher rating without the mistakes.

If you are looking for good Polish food, in a quaint restaurant, then the Belevedere is the place for you!

We just came from there, and were pleasantly surprised! We shared the Taste of Belvedere appetizer - very good, and it gives you a little bit of everything, or everything that counts: kielbasa, pierogis, meatballs, potatoes, green beans, schnitzel, and golabki (stuffed cabbage). This was way more than enough to split between 2 people, let alone 3 or 4.All was yummy!  We also had one of their soups, also delicious!

Dessert - just had to try the waffle. As previously mentioned in another review, that I LOVE waffles!  Anyway, the waffle was sweet, but not too sweet, with berries on top, nicely done.

My husband had one of the polish beers, which he said was good.

Service - good, not too fast, and not too slow.

Interior - loved the colors: browns, tans, and rust, with black (cloth) tablecloths. All very well thought out and put together.

Entertainment - shortly after we got there (a Friday night), a gentleman started playing an electric keyboard, and the songs were the "oldies, but goodies," which I love.

Restrooms - clean - yes! They say the sign of a good restaurant and a clean kitchen, is if the bathrooms are clean.

Price - final total was $51, which we were not disappointed with, considering the appetizer that we split was $36.  One other item on the menu was full price, the rest of the items were marked down, due to happy hour - not a bad deal. We choose what we did, to get a taste of many of their specialities.

Parking - street, and I found one right up front and close.

Will we go back - yes, but not sure when. I'd like to take my parents, as I know they would like some good, home cooked Polish food. Take care!

The schnitzel and draft beer were awesome!  I highly recommend them.  I stayed right on the 16th Street Mall for a conference and my favorite meal was at Belvedere.  I was not enthused about the piroges.

The interior decor was pretty poor but the bar was popular and crowded when I was there.  Our waitress and service was excellent.

Another note about the restaurant is that it's in a bizarre location, set apart from the 16th Street crowds.  We walked by empty parking lots on our way to this location.  The restaurant is also quite large and would be great for groups.  In fact, our group had eight people and the service was still extremely quick.

This has the same owner as Kinga's, the only other Polish restaurant I know of in Denver. Where Kinga's is more of a locals bar, Belvedere is much more of a sit down dinner place. Looks inside pretty much the same as Cafe Berlin's, which used to be at this location and moved a few blocks away.

But this has the best Polish food in the city. Service was great and enjoyed the dinner. The food seemed authentic, and tasty. I've chatted with the owner the few times I've been in there and she is really friendly and nice.

This is a cute little restaurant, as many have mentioned.  When we walked in around 6pm on a Friday, there were two women sitting at the bar and no one else was there.  A few more tables filled in as we ate, but it definitely didn't get busy.

The lack of business is certainly not the fault of the wait staff.  Our waitress, who was definitely Polish, was attentive, friendly and helpful.  I'm not sure if she is somehow related to the owner (or is the owner, for all I know), but you could definitely tell she was proud to work here.

They have a good selection of Polish beers, which at $6 for a half liter, are priced reasonably.  There's quite a bit more on the drink menu, but we didn't pay too much attention after I ordered my beer.

We got, as many others probably do, the Taste of Belvedere, which is a huge platter of several menu items.  This is absolutely the thing to do if there are two of you and it's your first time here, as it lets you try out many things to see which you'd order on your return trip.

Here's my rundown:  The green beans and mashed potatoes were very bland.  The schnitzel was also lacking, but I am fairly sure that they normally come in sauce, and the one served on the platter was naked.  Once we put some extra sauce from the meatballs on it, it went from a 5 to a 7.  The pierogies, unfortunately, were textureless and bland, both the potato and the meat varieties.

The cucumber salad was decent.  Cucumber slices in something like a tzatziki sauce.  I kind of expected it to come on the side, but it's just there on the platter.  The sausages were quite good, one kielbasa and one white sausage I don't know the name of.  The skin on them was pleasantly crispy.

The best items to us were the meatballs, which tasted great and had a delicious red sauce on them, and the stuffed cabbage leaf, which was a real highlight.  If we go back, those are the two items we'll be ordering again.

We also had two soups.  One was a sausage and lima bean stew, which was fine, and one was stroganoff, which was the best stroganoff I've had.

Unfortunately, the temperature and taste of the food on the platter was inconsistent.  But the good was quite good, and now we know what to get if/when we come back.

We stopped in at the Belvedere for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with the authenticity of the food and the polish beer selection!  On the street meter parking right in front of the restaurant was a cinch!  When we arrived around 6pm, the place was pretty empty and the service was perfect!  Even when it picked up later on the evening, service did not falter one bit!

We started out with the potato pancakes which came with applesauce and cottage cheese for dipping/spreading.  YUM!  For entrees, we went with pierogi and golabki (stuffed cabbage rolls).  Both were just as good as home-made!  We were stuffed when we left and even had some leftovers to take home (eastern european is not for the light of heart!--or stomach!).  We were too full this time around, but we will definitely be back to try out the desserts!

My family has Polish roots, so I'm picky about my pirogi.  But after a recent dinner at Belvedere, I feel totally comfortable endorsing theirs.

My fam and I decided to try somewhere new before catching a show at the DPCA, and were totally thrilled by our choice. Belvedere is charmingly decorated, without frills but with class.

The menu is HUGE, with so many choices that we barely made a dent in the offerings.

We started with 2 apps, potato pancakes and the croquette. The pancakes were quite standard- they were to come with either applesauce or sour cream, but we asked for and were given both. The croquette was a wonderful fried cabbage and ?? concoction, which came with a big cup of borscht for dipping. Our table's manners were strained as everyone wanted the last bite but no one wanted to admit it.

3 out of the 5 of us had the pirogi sampler. Meat, potato and cheese, and "house choice". That turned out to be a spinach and cheese filling- to die for. The potato and cheese was was my fave. The filling was perfectly flavored. The meat was good as well, but not my fave.

My husband had a bowl of stroganoff, which he loved, as well as kielbasa stuffed with gouda. He kindly shared some of the kielbasa, and it was simply amazing. Perfectly flavored, and perfectly cooked.

The service was also good- attentive but not annoying. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and will happily be back again and again.

Did you ever wonder what could possibly replace Cafe Berlin when it moved a few blocks over? Well, ponder no more. The new occupant, Belvedere, is a paragon of Polish pulchritude.

To start, the Flaki combines huge hunks of beef tripe (so tender it almost melts on the fork!) with shredded carrots and various chopped herbs in a restorative bovine broth. Alternatively, the cold cucumber-dill soup Chlodnik [remember, this is the "L" that's pronounced more like "W"] is equally appropriate for Colorado's four-seasons-in-one-day weather. Or, in a completely unrelated vein, you could begin your meal with Sledzie w Smietanie, an offering of plump herring fillets in thick sour cream (an olive-oil dressing is also available for the more health-conscious among you).

Then, progress to something rather more substantial, like Golabki - succulently soft cabbage leaves packed with rice and pork and smothered in your choice of rich tomato or creamy mushroom sauce. The sausage lovers among you will of course enjoy the smoky-chewy-meatiness of Poland's most famous contribution to charcuterie, Kielbasa. Accompanied by two impossibly pert scoops of smooth mashed potato and some earthy shredded beets (other sides are certainly possible, including the cucumber concoction Mizeria)... well, how could you possibly go wrong? For the Pierogi fans out there, they naturally have those too, with a variety of fillings.

If you can manage to stuff it in, end on a sweet note with the buttery apple pastry Szarlotka or even the flaky creampuff wonder known as Kremowka. However you slice it, you'll leave Belvedere full - yet yearning for another visit.

PS Please don't nibble on the grapes in the entryway - they're plastic. You're welcome.

I was so glad to see a Polish restaurant open up in Denver, and even happier when I found the food to be quite authentic!!!  Being Polish and having lived in Chicago up until a couple years ago (spoiled!), I was definitely yearning some tasty Polish treats :).

My husband and I came here for dinner last weekend and shared the sampler platter.  I had the white borscht to start, and it was absolutely.  The sampler platter was huge, with the highlights being the polish sausage and yummy pierogi.  My husband was pleased to see a good selection of Polish beers as well.

I will definitely come here again and plan on bringing the family soon!

This place is awesome!  The staff is attentive, helpful and appreciative of the business.  My wife and I were super stoked to see a new Polish restaurant in Downtown Denver.  We had the sample platter and everything was spot on.

If you're looking to switch up the normal routine of played out food on the mall, this is the spot.  Support these people!

Belvedere is a cute, quaint spot for dinner. They have videos of fireplaces playing on TVs hung on the wall. They have a good selection of Polish beers. They have very friendly service. And they have delicious food.

Sir Nicholas and I ate here for dinner the other night and share "The Taste of Belvedere" which is a sampling of the menu and more food that two people really ever need to eat in one sitting. It had red and white kielbasa, meat pierogis, potato and cheese pierogis, Belvedere meatballs, schnitzel, golabki, buttered green beans, and your choice of soup. Yeah, a lot of food and it only cost $32.

The soups come out in these adorable wooden bowls on bread boards. I chose a tomato based lima bean soup with sausage and it was awesome. Nick picked a cold cucumber dill version that wasn't quite my cup of tea, but he seemed to enjoy it. Then the rest of the food comes out on a giant platter all at once. I have to say my favorite was the schnitzel, but really it was all good. We also had the house side salad which isn't like American style salads - there's no bed of greens. This is just tomatoes, feta, cucumber, oil and vinegar. It is good, but you have to be expecting it.

All in all this was a really relaxed, pleasant meal and I look forward to going back again.

I'm salivating just thinking of the meal I had there, last week.

Got the sample platter of perogies and the kielbasa with havarti cheese.

total goodness.... go with a group - it's filling and too much for one person.

The Belvedere is an interesting place for sure with some pretty good Polish food.  Polish food doesn't exactly have a big market in Denver, so it is nice to see this place open up.

The menu has quite a few interesting options, and the Pierogies are quite good as far as pierogies go... I hadn't had them in ages, so it was certainly nice to have.  They have a good selection of bottled beers from Poland, which I have never had before and was pleasantly surprised at the quality.  I definitely recommend the Warka if you like lager style beer.

The service was good, though the place was unfortunately quite empty for a weekend evening.  The waitress was definitely still learning the menu, as she had to leave and check things a couple times... but it's a new place so I understand.  Otherwise, it was quite good.

I really have nothing bad to say about this place, and everyone should definitely try it.  I can't give it 5 stars though... I don't want to start and sort of controversy or anything, but here goes... Eastern European food in general is just not very flavorful or interesting when compared to say Indian or most Asian styles or Mexican/Latin American or French or Italian, etc.   If you want bold flavor, you're definitely eating from the wrong area of the planet... but for what Polish food is, Belvedere does it well.  I will probably be back when I'm craving some pierogies.

I haven't been downtown in some time and I took a couple colleagues for lunch expecting Cafe Berlin.  Well this place is now Polish and it was pretty good.  The new waitress wasn't much help and she was hard to flag her down for refills of our water glasses.

Outside of that, thought the food quality was great and the updated decor was nice.  I will return again.

This place is as great as I could have hoped for.  I have a true love for all Polish foods and have been in search for a restaurant that could come somewhere in comparison to my grandmother's homecooking.  Obviously nothing can compare to her cooking, but Belevedere comes in a real close second.

I tried the kielbasa and kraut, pierogi's and schnitzel.  All were incredible and made to perfection.  Along with the fine foods, the beer menu is the same great list as Kinga's which also delighted me.  The European charm and feel were exactly what I would look for in an outstanding Polish restaurant and I will return very shortly, I recommend anyone who wants a unique, delicious dining experience to join!

We heard about this restaurant last week when we visited Kinga's lounge. The owner just opened this new Polish restaurant which is in the former location of Cafe Berlin close to the Denver Center for Performing art.

We wanted to try this place out since we love the excellent food and service at Kingas Lounge. I ordered the Pork Schnitzel which was excellent and very juicy. The plate was accompanied with Mashed Potato's which were equally tasty.

I also tried a Warka Beer which is an outstanding Polish beer that is similar to Newcastle with a fuller taste and higher alcohol content. We received outstanding service and my wife who is from Poland was equally impressed. This is a new gem of a restaurant in downtown Denver.
