Not the best place but definitely cheap and good and fast for some steak tacos and other mexican food.  Not fancy.  They also serve american items sucks as hotdogs and fries...

Good place because it's local to me.

I have been to "Best Burritos in Town" a couple times now, most recently on Saturday for lunch.  This place is your typical little bit of everything food stand, serving hot dogs, hamburgers, and of course, burritos, making the name kind of ironic since they don't advertise anything else they have.  First time walking by I figured it was a Mexican restaurant that served the usual burrito, tamale, enchilada and such.  Now I've never actually tried anything here except for their burrito, and I'm not sure if you can blame me considering the name, and it's good but not the best.  I think their name hypes it up a little too much.  It is definitely filling, as it is a pretty large burrito with a lot of meat, and it is under $5.  I would certainly come here again if in the mood for a burrito, but wouldn't go out of my way.

The first thing that needs to be discussed is the name of this restaurant. Their primary offerings are what you would find at a typical hot dog stand (beef sandwiches, pizza puffs, things that are deep fried) not Mexican food. Burrito is about the tenth thing on the menu.  It is hard to enter a place called Best Burritos in Town and not order a burrito. You get the impression that burritos are so good, they won't even allude to anything else on the outside. Either that or everything else is so bad.

It also turns out that the name displays a bit of hubris on the part of the owners. The burritos are cheap, big, and slightly above average in taste, but far from the best burritos in town; Tecalitlan, on Chicago avenue, has this place beat by far.

The name of the restaurant is a misnomer.  It should be "Barely Edible Burritos In Town".

This place is great.  The mexican food is good, but not great.  What you want to get is the steak sandwich.  She puts it on garlic bread and covers it with the "best" gardinera in the city.  It's so chunky.  Very cheap and very clean.  The polish lady is also very nice.  Hot dog and fries for less than 2 dollars.  Just your little neighborhood spot.

As a take-out place for the best Polish-American burrito in town, I give this place a 5.  As a sit down restaurant, it's not date night in here.  So I gave it a 4.

But I've lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and I don't know if I've been here longer or the Polish lady that makes those great burritos.

She's nice, friendly, always has a kind word, clean, and works way too many hours a day.

I might go over there now to get a burrito.  I think I will.

I'd really give them 2-1/2 stars if I could, since cleanliness and quick service gets this place a few bonus points. Driving down Pulaski after visiting a vendor in the area, I saw an awning with a prominent sign stating "The Best Burritos in Town". It's not just a sign, but the name of the restaurant too. OK, so who dares to challenge Taco-Burrito King's steak & bean-laden tortilla supremacy? Well, it was a decent try anyway but TBK remains unchallenged in my book.

I came in to run my benchmark steak burrito test on the place. Inside, it's a diner with a small eating counter and stools anchored to the floor. A few booths were open in the back. The first booth was occupied by a small, old TV set with a big bottle of someone's prescription pills next to it. The restaurant has 2 parts to it - the burrito & hot dog side on the left, and the ice cream side on the right. The ice cream side was darkened and not in use. A Remax "For Sale" sign prominently hung in the window on the unused side.

The nice woman behind the counter spoke with an accent, quite common for a burrito place, but hers was a POLISH accent. I'm pretty sure there was no Hispanic ethnicity in her. Being part Polish myself,  now I'm thinking, can a Polish person really make a good burrito? Maybe I'll be surprised. Since I was 1 of only 3 customers inside right before the peak lunchtime hour of noon, she got my order quickly. She's also the only person working in the place, which tells me they are probably not very busy over here.

She brought my food along with a hot green salsa and a milder red salsa. The big steak burrito had good (not stringy) meat but it was not sufficiently grilled to my liking. A cold tortilla wrapping on a warm burrito does not appeal to me. I then thought about the fact that they also have hot dogs. Usually, you do one or the other but you're hard-pressed to find a place that can do both effectively. The red salsa had a bit of a fermented tomato taste to it and added little flavor, another negative. The burrito was better without it.

Well, the owners of TBK can rest easy tonight knowing this place has nothing to brag about. Or maybe they can buy it, awning sign and all, and show what a "best burrito" really tastes like.

Not flashy in any way.  Just solid, cheap, best-as-takeout Mexican food.  The owner (and sole employee from what I can tell) is a very sweet woman... as if you have your own Hispanic mother cooking up a burrito in front of your very eyes.  Burritos are $4.25 and above average.  The quesadillas are without question the BEST you could ever have... authentic corn shells and TONS of authentic gooey cheese... absolutely delectable and only $1.25.
