Had breakfast here today, admittedly a holiday, slow day, but said, what the hey, let's get steak and eggs. Perhaps should have gone with the sirloin instead of the New York strip, which had been previously frozen and had to be nuked then broiled, resulting in a disappointingly half-well-done steak instead of the medium rare I asked for, although to be fair it was nicely charred. However, I would rather they just say, we're out -- it's frozen, and it's not recommended, than render up a sub-par customer  experience. Hash browns were a little underdone too, tasted a bit raw. Needs refining. But, the greek toast was pre-buttered, and the coffee was hot, portion size was quite large.
Review Source:Friendly, fast neighborhood comfort food, small town diner atmosphere full of regulars. I'm a big fan of the breakfast menu, especially the omelets and sweet crepes filled with scrambled eggs & cheese! Â My favorite is the Popeye.
There is always freshly brewed unsweetened ice tea, which I love. This is a great place to get a sandwich, platters come with potatoes and soup or salad with homemade dressing (classic diner food)! Daily specials are available.
On my first visit, I was quite impressed. Typical MidWestern "Gram-Maw" interior, but clean, light, and well-staffed. The hostess was a yummy doll, the guy playing utility infielder as all over the place, and what I noticed was a strong and happy staff. This place was busy, but that did not hinder the high level of service I expect and experienced here. Most restaurants collapse when they get busy, and that is no excuse. This place ran like a top. I waited a very short time for my breakfast- definitely home-made biscuits, a bit less "stout" than I'd like, but still good, and NOT from a freezer bag, like so much of the "food" at the typical MidWestern greasy spoons...Overall, a very good experience. Oh- large glasses of ice water, always a good thing. I'll be back, so watch for my update, kids!
Review Source:What a surprise! Â I had written off all eating establishments in this general area but their parking lot continued to be full so I figured it had to be for a reason. Â I am very glad my friend and I met there for dinner the other night as we've finally found a place near where he lives that we both don't mind eating at.
I was surprised they are open for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Â They even had 3, yes 3 different kinds of fish fry on Friday! Â The Walleye was all-you-can-eat, and they also had Perch or Cod (just dinner style, not AYCE) but the Perch or Cod could be prepared egg-batter fried or broiled. Â Nice! Â I tried the fried Perch and it was so good! Â These are not frozen, pre-battered fillets. Â These were definitely hand battered and fried on the spot. Â It came with the second-best Mac-n-Cheese I've ever had in a restaurant and TONS of it! Â OMG, buttery, cheesy, perfect noodle goodness. Â I quickly asked for a box to prevent myself from gobbling it all up. Â My dinner also came with soup or salad AND a small dessert (rice pudding, etc.) which you could upgrade to a slice of pie for 99 cents more! Â
My friend had a skillet and his only complaint was the hashbrowns were too "potato-y"...Meaning they didn't have any of the browned crispy parts most of us love.
Apparently they recently redecorated inside and it looks quite nice. Â The service was just "okay." Â They have quite a big menu and plenty of specials to look over on the menu so we kept telling our server we needed more time. Â He apparently took "another minute?" quite literally and kept coming back about one a minute to see if we were ready. Â This went on for five minutes. Â He also didn't offer me the dessert which came with my dinner, I had to request it. Â Not sure if that was just him being forgetful or busy or if that is normally the case. Â Either way we will be coming back.
I used to live walking distance from here, and my husband and I would come on the occasional weekend morning for a nice breakfast together. It's a cute place -- very cozy and family oriented. You can tell that the customers are regulars and the waiters enjoy being there. The food is great (I always got a veggie omelet) and comes in large portions with enough to take home! I miss this place. Everyone needs to have a place like this nearby.
Review Source:We eat here every other Sunday, six of us. Today I ordered eggs with biscuits and gravy. Eggs over medium. They were grossly undercooked, damn close to raw. They looked like soup. The waitress disappeared until we were packing up to leave (with 2 toddlers). My husband asked her to look at the eggs, and if she would eat them. She said oh no, they're gross. She took them to the manager who wouldn't take them off the check, offered me a new plate instead, as we were at the door with one toddler starting to melt down. Not that I think that it will make a bit of difference to their existance, but we will never ever eat there again. I feel strongly about poor customer service, and this was just horrid.
Review Source:Yikes! Is all I can say for this place. Im not going to speak of the server because in this economy everyone needs a paycheck, but the food is nasty. I don't know what worse dumps that these other people who left reviews have eaten at in order to say that this food was good. Â The clam chowder should be called potato soup because there was no clam to be found. The french toast is nasty, pancakes are doughy and were undercooked and the hashbrowns well we won't even speak about that. Â Nothing is fresh there and it tasted like their juice was out of a can. Â It is cheap food but I guess you get what you pay for. Â Honestly I have had better food at 3 am diners on a drunken binch night. I will never be back and I can't believe this place would even get a crowd. It's gross!
Review Source:Great value. Everything is made fresh. Excellent pork tenderloin.
Wonderful breakfasts. Â Great pancakes.
One of our local favorites. They make fresh homemade Fried Chicken.
Also pretty good Chili, homemade salad dressings (Very Good Creamy Garlic) and tasty Macaroni and Cheese on Fridays.
Highly recommended.
Perfect well rounded diner for any occasion.
I indulged in breakfast on my visit this morning and the portions are huge! I had an omelet (perfectly fluffy with the right amount of cheese loaded on the inside), hashbrowns and 2 pancakes that came as a side for less than $6.00. Great value!!
The service is incredibly friendly and I have been here many times before and I plan to visit again and again!
This is a nice place with a good variety of menu items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We had the grilled cheese and a burger and soup which were all good. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The place was very clean and the decor has a nice bright sunshine yellow through out.
Review Source:This place is packed every single time I go in. The food is pretty cheap, comes out fast, and tastes pretty good. It does taste like a lot of their stuff comes from a can (corned beef hash, the fruit, etc) but they make it pretty palatable. The staff are all really friendly. Not a shabby place for a Sunday breakfast.
