Let me add a visitor's perspective.

    Drink service: fast.

Drinks: overpriced, when all things are considered (see below). A Jameson on the rocks is 8$.  I've seen better for less, in smaller towns.

Ambience: honesty, this is a non-pretentious, cool hang. I like the energy here.  Dealbreaker: But it SMELLS. it smells TERRIBLE. It reminds me of when I cleaned the wash bays at a car dealership as a kid. Why would you pay any amount of money for drink when even BREATHING is nauseating?  You wouldn't...because you read this post and steered clear.  Nice patrons- it seems like everyone is here for the same experience.

Overall; an OK dive, although it might be too nice to be a dive, but too divvy to be nice?  The smell is awful-I left my drink and walked out.

The best places in Port Jeff; great atmosphere, cool staff, and reasonably prices!  Come in for a beer in a burger in the evening or have a few drinks with friend at night. Better get there early on Friday night or you won't get in. Worth the trip!

4 stars. Great burgers and they come on an English Muffin. Fries are hand cut and crispy but can use a little more salt. The wings are also very good too. Prices are reasonable on food and alcohol. The place can definitely get crazy late night.

10 cent wings and dollar miller lites on Tuesdays make this place a hit with a younger crowd...but as far as going here any other day of the week, I probably wouldn't.

I love Billie's! It's definitely not the place to go if you are looking to dance on tables, but the atmosphere is still upbeat, the bartenders are good to their patrons, and Tuesday is wing night where you can get some amazing 10 cent wings and dollar Millers! When in doubt, choose Billie's 1890 Saloon.

I find that there are two groups of people here - SUNY Stony Brook kids, and locals of all ages.  It's super cheap and, as far as bar food goes, pretty darn good.  Weekend nights are way too crowded (for an old fart like me, at least).  Thursday is happy hour until midnight ($2 shots and half price drinks).  You can stay forever and have a bill of like $20.  Billies has been here forever and you will see the same customers week after week and year after year.  Block out the slightly dingy odor and it's a great little spot.

Before Spycoast came along, I would alternate between Billie's and Tommy's when venturing down into Port for drinks with friends. Billie's is fine if you have a table or a spot up against the bar but in general, this place is WAY overcrowded. It has taken me 10 minutes just to get from the bathroom to the front door.
The shots wheel is a crowd pleaser and the bartenders are typically really cool. Although I had one bartender who was a huge asshole because I couldn't retrieve my ID quick enough from my bag for his liking.
If the bar was a bit bigger, I might tolerate stopping in more often. But I'll mainly only go early during the week for some wings and happy hour drinks. You won't find me there on a Friday or Saturday after 11. But if I do, I'll waste my money on the internet jukebox, put on Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and leave immediately after the first chorus. Enjoy that.

I've been here once for a drink. There tap selection left much to be desired, however the worst aspect was the fact the entrance smelled like a urinal.

Spent more nights than I care to admit here.

By far the cheapest weekday watering hole in Port Jeff.  Always running a special and always has people inside.  Local sports on all the TVs, same group of bartenders for years.

Weekends get crowded, lots of college age kids.  Gets pretty packed (and hot) on Friday and Saturday night.  Spinning of "the wheel" which provides $2 shots or beers is much of the reason.

At times you could feel a little bit like an outsider, because most people seem to know each other and the bar staff.  Maybe a bit snobby depending on who's working.

For my dollar the best bar food in Port as well.  Good burgers, grilled cheese, wings.  Fast and hot.

It does have a bit of a funny smell at times, and may not seem to be the cleanest establishment around, but it's been here for a long time, and the crowds it draws prove that it's worth a try.

I've come here a few times with my friends on our bar crawls in Port Jefferson. The last time I came (a few months ago) was a Friday or Saturday night and their specials-wheel had $2 Cuervo shots as the feature of the moment. I got 2 shots. :) They have Bass on tap, so that's a positive!

This is a typical dive bar. Crowd is generally mixed: young and old alike. Ten cent wings are the main attraction on Tuesday nights. Mondays is ten cent lite beer (aka water). You've got to know when to get there though otherwise you're crap out of luck, and wings. The room in the back of the bar allows you to sit there and eat. There are about 4 tables to sit at up front.

Billie's is a fine pit stop. Aaaaah, I'm just glad Tara Inn is up the road. :)

Billie's is probably one of the three most popular bars in a 5-7mile radius of Port Jefferson Village, NY. Let's start off by saying that I dislike Irish pubs, especially Long Island versions, and that's because I can't deal with the typical Long Island trash that patronizes them. The only Irish pub/bar that I'll patronize and have respect for, is Tara's Inn by PJ train station...with that said, I also hate beer. Now, I'll give Billie's 2 Yelps and that's because last night they featured half price happy hour drinks so my patron margarita on the rocks with salt on the rim was $5. It was clearly made from a mix and was overly sweet...gross. It's been 6-8 months since I've been there last and it'll be another 6 months before you see me there again.

I'll continue sticking to restaurants and wine bars etc..

The place smells like urine on a hot summer night and the music is so loud that you have to check to see if your ears are bleeding.  Otherwise, a pretty good time if you get sauced enough.  Atleast you'll get to hear some metallica instead of the friggin' piano man like throughout the rest of the town.

Happy hour half priced drinks and 15 cent wings make me happy, which is why Billie's makes me happy. For a Port Jeff pub, it's pretty good, meaning it can get loud at peak hours and not at peak hours. But if you know when to go, you can enjoy its cozy, Irish charm.

It usually gets packed on the weekend nights and Tuesday nights (10 cent wings and 1 dollar miller lites). But if you check it out on a weekday between 4pm-8pm, you can get happy hour prices with other reasonable happy folks, psyched about being done with work and drinking to their hearts content. Enjoy!

Don't bother trying to get a quick lunch here, 'cause it ain't happening. Been here a few times, and there's always a long wait for the food to come out. Once I think we were waiting a good 45 minutes. And there's nothing amazing to be waiting for; the food is standard pub fare, nothing fancy. Maybe good for drinks during happy hour, but otherwise I'd stay away.

It's a great place to go get a burger and some wings during happy hour. The food and drink is priced cheap and has a good atmosphere. I would just get there early if you want to get a table because they fill up pretty quickly with the regulars coming in for a meal.

Very cheap happy hour with $2domestics and 2.50 for imports.  Night time crowd is younger and on Monday night they have dollar beer night.  There is a dining room in the back, and a few tables in the bar area for eating.  Usually at night though it is crowded with no place to sit and often no place to stand either, especially on the aforementioned dollar beer day.

On Friday and Saturday nights they have a wheel that they spin and whatever it lands on is $2.  They spin it like every 15 mins.  Me and my friends usually have a rule that we have to drink at least one of whatever it lands on, and often times that is a shot of blackhaus or something equivalently harsh.

Daytime crowd is mostly older people and some families dining etc, nighttime crowd is young.   The bartenders there are fast and helpful since this is one of the few places left that hire a bartender for talents other than looking hot and having big boobs.  Sometimes it smells in there due to the fact that most of Port Jefferson used to be a marshland, and the building is old.  The owner of Old Port Pub told me all the junk they had to do to get rid of the low tide smell at his place.

Overall a decent bar/bar restaurant type place, choose the time you go to chill with your type of crowd.

I'm guessing one of the oldest bars on Long Island? (It's hard to get information on this topic.) It's definitely old and they do not really trump that up. Nice atmosphere, minimal White Hats and what they grown into which my esteemed comrades have dubbed "The John Mayer Scene." It's rampant in "Port" but it's their's and I just visit.
So, Billie's is minimal on the Schmucks,The staff are friendly and fast. They have Guinness and know how to pour a proper Black & Tan The menus is standard Pub Faire done well.
