First of all its pronounced- La hunnah, second- this may be the best bar in the Arkansas Valley (well lets not get crazy, but its the best place to get
a drink in La Hunta when your train stop smoke break has been extended from 15 to 45 minutes.
La Junta is a helluva town- amongst brisk berms of high plains one can find an Oasis of sorts-
one that for some reason or another necessitates a 45 minute smoke stop (aka walking self tour in every direction, usually commencing with a sprint to the train- not because that we are afraid to miss it, but rather due to the horrid
nausea brought on from thoughts of spending more than 45 minutes here. But, I took a walk- left, right- ok downtown has been surveyed in approximately 10 minutes- its
7:13 on a Tuesday night and 1 restaurant is open downtown, no bars and a gleaming pizza hut rectangular sign beckoning us from afar, more like 6 blocks- nonetheless,
its food and after a heated debate on how the dining car would prepare tonight's special (4 cheese lasagna), we opted for the hut. After a phonecall and a 15 minute
guarantee- we set off- but not 5 steps were taken before aha! BJ's Sports Bar-Her lights shone down upon the deeply trodden path leading the afterworkers from the La
Junta Mill & Elevator Co into her quaters like the crazy diamond she is. So we pop in- greeted as a POlak-Italian and a Greek-Portuguese should be in southwestern Colorado (Que pasa, amigos- but a sincere greeting, like we should return with a nada or bueno). Caught the last 4 minutes of the Nuggets game on lessthanHD Tv's and off  to Lamar!
