Bread & Spice

Such a good lunch, but it was disconcertingly quiet. And not quiet like "not a lot of customers" but quiet like "Is this a new branch of the library?". Put on some tunes, guys!  

A big order rolled through right before us, so the kitchen and counter staff were both a little overwhelmed, but it still took a long time between our order and our food...and with nothing to distract us, (so quiet!) you could practically here the clock tick.

In fairness, they acknowledged the delay and even offered to make up for it with some free sodas, but it still took away from the experience.

Our sandwiches were great. Wifey had the falafel and I had an open face pear and walnut and blue cheese spread that was really outstanding. We'll be back, but maybe we'll being a book.

All right. The espresso here is good. Plus, they make it old-school in a little metal pot on a burner, which I find adorable. I bought a loaf of the whole-wheat bread that had a great homemade taste, though a tad bit crumbly. Lunch salads there are really fresh and tasty, and at a good price point. I haven't tried the rest of the menu other than the gazpacho, which was great, too. There are still some kinks to work out here, but I so want this place to make it. So try it out for lunch or breakfast if you are in the area, will you?
