The sounds of karaoke from across the street lured us from the safe confines of our hotel room.
Smoke wafted out like a technicolor strobe lit version of Mount Doom.
Inside the patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely, and we immediately relaxed...although that could have been the second hand nicotine.
Honestly we would have passed this little hole in the wall by, but location, location, location; we could have hit the place with a shoe from our room. We were drunk so it missed.
The beer was cold, the Karaoke surprisingly high tech (seriously) and the people watching extremely enjoyable.
Unlike so many of the polished chains you encounter traveling, this place had soul.
While definitely more of a local's joint than tourist attraction if you happen to be stumbling by and hear the siren call of a drunken choir we all love in that special moment of inebriation, give this place a shot. But if the second-hand smoke is a problem, pass it by. Or maybe listen from outside!
British Pub is one of my very favorite things about St Aug. Â Nice, clean place, delicious beer at fair prices, internet jukebox, karaoke a couple times a week, and it's *gasp* actually run by the people who own it, so their standards are very high and they do everything they can to ensure all guests are having a good time. Â Not a meat market, but chances are you'll meet someone funny and smart to chat up over a couple of ESBs. Â Can't recommend it enough.
