I wish I found Brodie's when I first moved to Peabody.  I had been driving by it forever and always wanted to stop in.  I finally did about a year ago and this place is now part of my regular restaurant rotation.  You really can't go wrong here. Laid back, casual atmosphere.  Lotta locals at the bar.  The food is inexpensive, portions are good-sized and when you order a Captain n Coke, you actually get a good amount of Captain in your Coke (huge plus).   I have yet to have a just OK meal here.  They've ALL been real good.  If you're getting apps, don't pass over the portabellas.  I always change up what I'm getting here (kick-ass specials every night) but I always start off with the portabella app.  A good time all around. I've never stopped in for lunch so I haven't had the parking problems other reviewers had.  At night, there's plenty of on-street parking.  There's also a public lot a stone's throw away on Foster Street.  Definitely stop in  next time you're in the neighborhood.  And if you live near Brodie's, there is absolutely NO reason for you to ever eat at a sh*thole 99 restaurant or other chain pub/restaurant again.  EVER.  Enjoy =)

We went here to use a Groupon.  The portions were very generous and the food was delicious.  I got a teriyaki chicken pita and my husband got steak tips.  The teriyaki chicken pita was so large that I took half of it home.  I loved the french fries there as well.  The atmosphere is easy going but as another reviewer wrote it feels like everyone watches you come in(it could just be the setup of the bar as it is very narrow).  Even without the discount, the portions were generous for the price and we would come back again.

Recently moved to the area and was looking to find a bar/pub to fill the void of my previous residence (Columbia, SC). This is the place! It is located in downtown Peabody and has a great atmosphere. I know other reviews have said their food is good, but seriously! it is amazingly good. The drinks and food are well priced and the service is amazing.

Yes the parking is a little bit of a challenge, but after 5pm most of the street parking is available so you'll have to hunt for a spot. But once you get there you won't want to leave. The bar is in front, and the dining area is in the back. Not a whole lot of seating, but I haven't had a problem finding a spot yet. Very friendly atmosphere, definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a good drink and some great food.

Went to Brodie's on Saturday night because we had a Groupon. It was absolutely delicious . . . the atmosphere is warm and the owner came over to see if everything was alright. . .it was great!  Would definitely go again!

This past weekend we spent the afternoon staying out of the cold and visiting the North Shore Shopping Center, and worked up quite an appetite.  As usual, we turned to our fellow Yelpers for help on finding a place to have a few beers and eat some good food.  Hence, our visit to Brodie's Pub.

Brodie's Pub is easy enough to find, but parking was a challenge due to its location downtown and the tremendous build up of snow banks.  However, we discovered a public parking lot behind the pub where the parking is free after 6PM, and walked the short distance to Brodie's.  When entering the pub we immediately noticed the huge piece of wood making up the bar where historical buildings were carved on the bar top and covered with a glossy coat of polyurethane.  The pub is narrow, but toward the rear of the pub are several tables.  The bar area was full of locals, but they were extremely friendly.  One couple noticed I was looking for a coat hook, and they directed me to the coat hooks and engaged us in funny conversation.  Fortunately, we snagged a few seats at the bar in front of the open kitchen.

At first, I was a little concerned when I realized the barmaid doubled as the waitress, but she was pushing the food out and taking care of everyones needs.  In short time, we had our Sam Adams and menus.  I love an open kitchen concept and had a great time watching the chef preparing meal after meal.  The busyness of the chef and waitress/barmaid, and large flat screen TVs kept us entertained.

Now for the food... we started with a house salad, and we both enjoyed the dressing.  I believe it was vinaigrette, but not sure.  My wife ordered the Ruben sandwich and I the Famous Chicken Teriyaki Pita.  Both came out with a nice stack of hot steak fries.  My wife's Ruben was huge, and I was allowed one bite.  As I recall, it was delicious.  The Famous Chicken Teriyaki Pita comes with one whole grilled chicken breast, split in half to make two pitas.  The chicken was topped with bacon and your choice of cheese.  I opted for cheddar.  The chicken breast was stuffed inside the pita pocket along with lettuce, tomatoes, raw onions and mayonnaise.  The chicken was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had just a hint of teriyaki.  The Famous Chicken Teriyaki Pita is such a large portion that I had to haul the other half of the pita home to eat the next day.

As we sat finishing our beers, the chef came out from the kitchen to talk with us.  When he learned we were from out of town, he introduced us to the owner of Brodie's Pub.  Unbeknownst to us, he had been standing behind us most of the night.

The experience we had with the food, the patrons, the staff and the owner along with the atmosphere will keep us coming back when hitting the North Shore.

Went back again with the BF, and was just as impressed as the last time, if not more so.  We started with the portabello appetizer, fantastic!  It maybe could have used a bit more bread, but i am also a carb-o-holic and may be biased.

Based on reviews I had to try the teriyaki chicken pita.  It was phenomenal, though not strong on the 'teriyaki' flavor.  I liked that however, it let the other ingredients shine (specifically the omigod homemade savor every bite pita bread).  I got it with the onion rings, again great!  My boyfriend yet again got the Reuben, apparently since our last visit he has been craving it on a regular basis and vehemently declares it is hands down the best Reuben he has ever had, and he has had a lot of Reubens.  he really likes the dressing they serve it with, and has discovered that french fries dipped into works just as well as the sandwich.

Service was friendly, the bartender was doing double duty as the waitress as well, so things got held up on occasion, but it wasn't because she was sitting around, and she apologized when our sodas took a bit long to get to us.

We came back with a groupon (though i would eat here any day without the deal) and here is a major downside that almost brought this down to a 3 star...my boyfriend thinks we didn't get enough change for the rest of the amount, but for some reason he didn't say anything and still gave a big tip since he was so happy with his meal (I am not sure why he didn't say anything...but i guess it wasn't my money :-) ).  However since his math skills are less than stellar, and he realized there may have been an issue on our way out as an afterthough, i am not entirely sure we were actually short changed.

2/2 for the food at Brodie's, this has become our new favorite restaurant: cheap, quick, delicious!

This is one of those instances where I never would have known this place existed if it was not for Groupon. My husband and I stopped by tonight for a quick bite to eat with minimal expectations for a pub, but wow! We were blown away. First of all, you walk in and immediately get a friendly vibe. It's definitely a favorite of locals, but you don't feel out of place if you walk in for the first time. It's like Cheers pub, but in Peabody Center!

As somebody mentioned, you walk past the bar to get to the seating area. This area is small, but warm and inviting with dark mahogany walls and white Christmas lights. We were greeted by so many friendly faces en route to the back that we couldn't figure out who worked there and who was a customer. We were greeted immediately by a cheerful waitress who told us we could sit anywhere. Once we sat down, she informed us they were out of the risotto and swordfish specials. That is when we knew that this was not your ordinary pub. They have typical pub food, but also fancier dishes such as grilled pork tenderloin and the aforementioned specials. Based on the Yelp reviews below, I ordered the Famous Chicken Teriyaki Pocket. I am not usually a white meat kinda girl, but one bite into my sandwich and I know why so many people rave about it! Not only are they generous with the portions (the dish comes with two whole chicken breasts), but the meat is tender and the sauce is just right. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, cheese (your choice of American, cheddar, and I think Swiss?) and bacon and is like nothing I have ever had elsewhere. My only complaint is that the pita bread, which was delicious and I think homemade, cannot really stand up to the teriyaki sauce and mayo. My sandwich fell apart after a quick bite or two, but that did not stop me from devouring one half of it. As I mentioned above, the sandwich is huge so I saved the other half for tomorrow's lunch. I ordered steak fries with mine, which had just the right amount of salt and tasted better than most fries you can get in a bar.

As a starter, my husband had a side salad which came with house dressing -- homemade vinaigrette. It was delicious considering it looked like your ordinary garden salad! For his entree, my husband ordered one of the specials -- chicken in a sherry cream sauce with tricolor tortellini. It came with some yummy crostini and he was in heaven dipping the bread into the creamy sauce. Like me, my husband had trouble finishing his dinner so we took half of it to go.

Our total was less than $40, which included a beer, a soda, one salad, and two huge dinner entrees. Throughout our meal, we were checked on by our waitress, another waitress/bar maid, and another man -- perhaps the manager? We were impressed by the amazing customer service and we were even bid good-bye when we left by the man, who was then behind the bar and thanked us for coming.

The clincher of the evening (because I am a sucker for kind gestures), which is another testament to how genuine and nice the staff is, was when our waitress told another customer that she was only wearing one earring. It's one thing to notice that, but to be sweet enough to tell somebody AND then have the patrons at the front bar area helping to look for the lost jewelry is beyond the call of duty. The food, the staff, the reasonable prices, and the warm comfortable atmosphere of this restaurant/pub will definitely bring us back. We are so glad that Groupon helped us discover this hidden gem in a town that consists of mostly pizza joints and chain restaurants.

    Random notes:
    1. There is a municipal lot in the back as well as plenty of street parking surrounding City Hall.

    2. There are several large screen TVs so you can watch the game.

    3. There is a 35 cent wings special on Sundays, according to my husband  who noticed a sign on his way out. Can't wait to try this as I am def. a wing girl!

    4. There is a cool looking, new age juke box by the front.

    5. This place is pretty tiny. It's a long narrow space, but you don't feel too claustrophobic.

    6. They do not serve coffee or tea, and we don't recall seeing a dessert menu.

    7. They don't take reservations either, but it wasn't too crowded for dinner when we arrived around 8pm on a Saturday evening. If anything, most of the hubbub was at the bar.

I used to frequesnt this place many, many years ago and then problems with ownership.

Luckily the new owners seem to take an interest in making sure the customers are happy and served good pub food. At first though they seemed hesitant with regards to new faces frequenting the place but after only a few visits the staff has seemed to warm up a bit. I am referring to the regulars I see like Shawn, and Kellie both bartenders and waitresses. Same goes for the big guy managing the place. I guess I can't say I blame them but all is well and I go weekly now. There are a few others that work here and I must say I like them all.

I like the open kitchen and for one reason, you get to see how hard these folks in a normal kitchen work! The specials are somewhat consistent but they do not always have what I like. You can't go wrong with the teriyayki pita pocket sandwich for a mere $9.95 with a choice of sides and a slice of sour pickle. Same for the angus steak tip sandwich!

The drinks, well in a word WOW! They are awesome. To sum it up you have to give this place a try. Friday nights can be a tough night to find a seat, but I find Saturay to be a lot less crowded. Oh and the talent pool, impressive especially on a Saturday night at the bar.

I've got a bunch of friends coming down in February and like last year we'll be hanging out at this place for sure. Oh and taking a cab home of course!!!

Surprisingly not bad. A few of us got the famed Chicken Teriyaki pocket and it was quite good. Beer prices seemed reasonable. Bartender was attentive and friendly.

The place is a locals-type joint though. The kind of place where 90% of the patrons stare at every single person that enters the door. Wouldn't be opposed to going again.

I'm a big fan of this place.  The bar is gorgeous, and they have everything you could ever want.  Their lunches are also amazing.  Really high-quality bar/pub food.  They make a good strong drink and prices are more than fine.  I've only been for lunch or for late afternoon, and it always looks packed at night.  I hope to try it at night soon, and as soon as I do...I'll update this.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat. Dark interior, back area was pretty cold due to a broken window and they had a couple flat screen TVs playing the football games.

Food was excellent and we opted for onion rings with our burgers which came in a gigantic pile. Certainly they were not stingy in their quantities but I think the batter could have been a bit more seasoned. I'm not a salt person but I did need to add quite a bit to season them up.

After a long day of work, I look forward to going to Brodie's for a drink and some fabulous food. Since the new owner has taken over its even better, it has a modern feel and everybody makes you feel like family.

While on vacation near Peabody, we stopped in Brodie's Pub based on the rave reviews on Yelp, and I have to say the reviews did not steer me wrong.  The service and patrons were very friendly, even though it was obvious that we were from out of town.  I had the chicken salad sandwich; which is the best I have ever had.  I was pleasantly surprised how a very simple sandwich could be made a little differently and taste so good.  My husband had the pastrami sandwich, and he was talking about that sandwich for the rest of the day.  I plan on coming back if my travels take me back to that area in the future.

I was in Peabody for a gig and found other reviews of Brodie's to be good so I stopped in. 2 words: Very good. Chili and teriyaki chicken pocket were great. Friendly service and lively atmosphere. I believe there was free Wi-Fi as well. Their special board looked good as well. I would definitely return and try something else. Highly recommended!!

I've been coming to Brodie's with my parents ever since I learned how to tie my shoes all by myself. Nowadays I still make a point to stop in for their chicken teriyaki pocket or steak tips whenever I am in the area. This place has been through more ownership changeovers than an individual Pog (oh yes I did), yet remains authentic to it's original intentions: beer, food, and lack of fuss.

In recent years they are beginning to have more exciting specials which can vary from respectable to delectable, but 60% of the time every time I just order the chicken teriyaki pocket because it blows my mind. Really. There is nothing special or fancy about it, yet it is perfect in every way. Why am I not eating one right now. I'm crying.

My boyfriend and I just went for dinner for the first time, and the place was great. I hear they have great steak tips but I got a cheeseburger and steak fries, and my boyfriend got a rueben and fries. I started w/a basic salad, which was decent for a pub...but my boyfriend said his starter, the chowder, was wonderful. My burger was cooked to perfection, with a great taste (they must have seasoned the meat) and a nice bit of char to it. A very soft bun might have been better toasted. Pete said his Rueben was one of the best he's ever had. Perhaps most impressive, our waitress appeared to be in her early twenties yet was as responsive, respectful, polished, and grateful as she could be.

Always changeing specials make this place a regular stop I can't tired of.  Staff is always friendly and food is exceptional.  This is the best meal for the money i have found in the northshore!

Check out the hand carved bar with historic Peabody scenes under the clear coat.  Enjoy the drinks, beers are cold, and drinks are strong whether they be well, call or premium.  Seafood specials rock and the regular menu items are always solid.  Love the fries. Service is friendly and competent.  Plenty of parking.  It's definitely a must stop in Peabody Center.

I love this little hole in the wall pub in Peabody center.

The food is delicious and higher quality than usual pub fare.

I love their grilled marimated portabella sandwich and order it (without cheese) most times I visit. It's delicious!

My other tablemates are always happy with their food choices too, from juicy bacon cheeseburgers to vegi plates.

The resturant section of the pub is never too crowded to find a seat at dinnertime. Just walk past the bar if you want to sit at a table.

I've only gotten soda, but I've heard they serve pretty strong drinks too.

Brodie's has all the atmosphere of a phone booth but the food more than makes up for the lack of decor.  Working from a tiny kitchen tucked behind the bar, Brodies serves really good bar food.  But the real surprise is found on the "Specials" menu.  The specials...posted on a blackboard...are some of the most creative and delicious items you will find on the North Shore.   Table space is very limited so expect a bit of a wait...especially on Friday nights.

I've worked in Peabody for 25 years. Brodies is always in the lunch rotation. Usually the chicken terriaki sandwish for take out but a great place to sit down and relax when I can pull it off. Good pub food, friendly service.

They have one of the oldest and most beautiful bars I've ever seen. The food is excellent!!!! No joke. It's a sunday ritual for me to have a cheeseburger and a bloody mary. I've had other things as well, and it's all been great. Excellent waitstaff. The place rocks.

There once was a man from Pea Body.
Who was craving a very hot toddy.
He drove up to the bar
in his piece of shit car
    and  ____________.

You guys will have to finish that one. I got nothing.

Nice little suburban neighborhood bar with good food too. It's right in Peabody center.

Check it out if you want to get your local soccer mom drunk on Guinness while stuffing your face with delicious steak tips.

We love Brodie's for two reasons. Number one: the Guinness is always served at the perfect temperature - never too cold and they always let it settle before topping off the glass. Number two: Buddy. Buddy makes great pub grub. The chicken teriyaki pockets are as good as advertised. The burgers and steak fries are great. And, he always offers five or six really compelling specials. Service here has always been friendly and the prices are low. There is plenty of parking in the municipal lot in back. Brodie's is one of the very few places we frequent where we've never ever had a bad meal.
