I appreciate that this place has been in business since the Spanish colonization of 1623. I am pretty sure Jesse James stayed in this very room...the decor having not changed since his visit.
When in Rome...... or how about: "when in El Centro" do as the cowboys do and stay at Brunners Inn. I appreciate their efforts to stay in character to the wild west drama etched in the romance of this wild west locale...
Somehow, a flat screen HD TV with a remote control digital spa/bed would seem out of place in the bare bones throngs of this desert oasis.
The fridge kept my beer cold, the A/C the room cool. No bugs were observed but the carpet could use a steam cleaning; and there was a faint smell of ass. The lighting made me look ghastly pale and out of shape in the mirror so minus a star for that
Easy to get to , safe parking, close to food and beer, and only $55 a night on my stay so 3 stars
Overpromised, underdelivered. Service was decent, but the room was in bad shape and the hotel is shabby in general. The continental breakfast was certainly not worth trying-- mini muffins, stale coffee and juice. I regret not paying a little more for a more reliable chain hotel instead.
That said, the price was low and the place felt safe-- so this might be a good choice for someone on a particularly tight budget.
