It is nice to have food outside on a deck overlooking a lake.
service was rather slow, waited really long time before placing food order (but drinks came fast) and really long time to get a check.
Food we had was mediocre. We are vegetarians and this place is not about it (with still some choices available). We had all you can eat buffet - and it was just ok. Generally people there were very friendly and nice.
i will provide a rundown of how my meal was here per dish I ordered
nachos- the bottom of the bag chips you find in the tostitos bag, because those chips are the saltiest. It was covered in luke warm semi-melted cheese...I could still see chunks of cold cheese in the sauce
onion rings- seemed to be nice and golden and big when I got them. I bit into one and the batter and breading on the inside did not cook through
ribs- like the ribs at applebees..but worse (and that's saying something)
sweet potato pie-gloppy and nasty. if you dont make it homemade....fine...just get it from someonme who can make it right.
To be fair, the service was quite good, and they manager was very accommodating to us......but the food here was some of the worst I have eaten in any restaurant. avoid, even if it is the last establishment on earth.
Just spoke with Ann-Marie from Bubba's BBQ. She could not have been nicer. We had a nice conversation and she was very, very apologetic for our poor dining experience. In our conversation I do believe she learned how to possibly prevent this happening to another guest. Don't cross them off your list for BBQ.
Review Source:It's unfortunate to see such a prime location wasted on this total disaster of a restaurant. Â We went to Bubba's over the winter several years ago (before they were seasonal), and the food was mediocre at best. Â The ribs were definitely reheated; dried out. Â They made a failed attempt to rehydrate them by smothering them in sauce. Â Horrible. Â We went two summers ago to give them a fair retrial. Â The food went from mediocre to absolutely inedible. Â This was the first time we actually walked out of a restaurant. Â We paid the waitress for our beverages and tipped her as it wasn't her fault and we left. Â I cannot believe this place is still in business, it must be the great location that attracts the unknowings in. Â Please avoid this debacle by all means.
Review Source:Not the kind of place that I MUST drag my friends to, but eating on the deck during the summer is nice, and going downstairs to the bar for drinks and some appetizers is fun. Laid back atmosphere, tasty apps and fried food. May not be fancy, but it's the kind of place where I can feel comfortable just coming as I am. Must say that I miss Buster's though. Buster's was 5 stars all the way.
Review Source:1 star - for the guaranteed roach, rodent and pest free environment, I guarantee you the food is so disgusting even the pests stay away.
Lord o'mercy this place is horrifying, the pulled chicken was so watery and pure tasteless [you cant taste a difference between raw tofu and this thing] and no, a full cup of cold bbq sauce on top does not change anything.
The sides, the greens [spinach] were gray, the sweet potato was brown in a private oil bowl, and so on. And after all that credit the prices are ferociously expensive at $15 a dish when you can have a homemade hamburger for $3.35 nearby. This decor is the soul reason why designers were incorporated in the first place.
After a substantial renovation and complete change of staff, Bubba's has opened, replacing the beloved Buster's BBQ. Â It's a shame that Buster's is no more. Â Bubba's isn't even in the same league. Â Prices are high, food is mediocre at best, the atmosphere is bizarre, and the entire enterprise is completely devoid of soul. Â
The food is mediocre. Â Pulled pork sandwich was tender but flavorless. Â Gumbo was good. Â Fries are fried potato wedges, not fries. Â Burger with swiss, onions and mushrooms was a coarse grind with good fat content, on a fresh kaiser roll, but even after sending it back, the grillperson was unable to find medium rare. Â We got raw with a charred outside, and then mostly cooked with a raw center, but never an edible medium rare burger. Â Which was a pity. Â Collard green side was excellent, outdone only by the cole slaw, which is also available as a side. Â Maybe the tenderest, freshest, most tasty slaw I ever had. Â
Salad bar was the usual drab looking sort of thing you find in small struggling restaurants, which is a shame, because the former restaurant's salad and sides bar was a truly glorious experience. Â
Bright white drywall shines brightly as old farm tools and repro antique product advertisements try to take up what seems like miles of blank wall. Â The floors are covered with commercial grade carpeting, for some reason. Â Yuck. Â Staff is mostly pierced local teens with too much makeup, but they were nice and friendly. Â Given how charming the former place was, with checkered tablecloths, silverware on the table in dispensers, a huge menu and delicious food, the experience was a truly disappointing one. Â Prices for lunch were on the high end of reasonable for sandwiches, with sides priced at a fair $1.95 until you see the tiny petri dish they come in. Â Entrees begin at $11.95 and top out at close to $20. Â
I would not come back unless it was summer and I could sit on the lovely deck, which remains unchanged, and was always the nicest thing about the whole place.
