Burke's Tavern

Waited a long time for server to initially come to table. The noise and acoustics from the jukebox system made it painful to sit and talk. This was remedied quickly by a bartender who lowered volume when asked. Then it was pleasant. Ordered the Mountain Nachos which were excellent.  Ordered the special from the blackboard (veal parm sandwich) and the rest of the table ordered from the menu. Very slow and frankly inattentive service.  When the food came finally from the kitchen, it was painfully obvious that all the hot items had been under a heat lamp for about 15-20 minutes, rendering the fries inedible an the bread from sandwiches too hard to chew. Drinks were very good and the overall appearance and ambience was nice after the music was lowered considerably. It's really a shame the food is so awful because its a nice place. Even though the server was slow, the entire staff we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Just have to get that kitchen in order. Really bad food.

Opened recently after the fire and really nice. Food was very good but we found it a bit overpriced for bar food. Better choices locally.

Burke's is back!  After a totally devistating fire the rebuild is complete. Reubens how I missed you!   Best in the Poconos; though the original form is not on the menu, you can still order it... Best hand-cut fries anywhere.  The bar is exceptional and plenty of dining room seating.  Excellent game area and a nice looking deck which I hope to use in the spring (if it's not dominated by smokers).  The food is exceptional but the prices could be better.  Fries with sandwiches are extra (they weren't before) and the wing prices are rediculous (but the triple B wing sauce is so good!).  Hopefully they will soon add a wing night special sometime soon to be able to compete with other local establishments.  Burke's has awesome food and I would eat here more often if the specials and prices were better.  Order anything on the menu and you will not be disappointed!
