The pizza. Â An item where variations in style are many. Â To me, the pizza is made of three main essential components, each weighted equally. If one isn't done right, the pizza isn't done right. Â
Crust: Â The crust is done pretty well at CJ's pizza. Â It's a thinner crust pizza, although it's not a thin crust pizza. Â It's sort of like a NY style pizza, but thinner and crispier. Â The flavor is right, along with chewiness of the crust; the taste of the crust is slightly sweet as well.
Cheese: Â Ahh, the first chink in the armor Ted. Â The cheese is really bad here. Â Not as in rotten, but it's as bad as cheese on the pizza of lunch room pizza in an elementary school. Â The look of the cheese is shiny like it's plastic (I'm sure someone knows the plastic cheese look), and the taste of it is just as bad. Â Not good flavor, not good texture, it's just bad.
Sauce: Â The sauce is a sweet and tangy sauce, exactly how I like it on a pizza. Â In fact, the sauce is the best part of this pizza. Â Done just right! Â
Although the cheese was terrible on the pizza, the rest of the components saved the pizza, which is okay by me. Â If they changed the cheese at CJ's.....aw man, I'd eat pizza every other day here. Â
The owner was really nice to me, and we struck up a conversation talking about life experiences in different cities. Â He says his pizza isn't really New York style pizza, but rather New Jersey pizza, something that made me chuckle. Â The service here is fast and friendly, but that really shouldn't be a focal point as I'm sure most of the sales are takeout. Â
All in all, CJ's pizza is a place worth checking out if you're craving New York style pizza but have no problems with an okay substitute.
