Horrible place!! Rude, unprofessional, dirty, BAD service, ppl throwing up in the middle of day light while other customers are having their food. They take FOREVER! to bring you're food. Don't waist you're time this place is a shit hole. Check out their other yelp account Davina"s Cabo Grill. They have worst reviews on that one. Seems like they wanted to hide from all the bad reviews they have and made another account.
Review Source:Was in Oceanside for a couple days and saw this place and thought to try it out. The food here is not really the greatest. Got a steak taco with a chicken taquito. Â The steak was so salty I needed to drink a lot of water the rest of the night. I had all rice, no beans. Had a nice helping of rice. Just wished the taco was bigger. Told the server about the small portions and they just said the tacos are bigger before they are fried.. $12 was too much for this. I get close to the same thing but bigger portions at El Torito for $10.
Review Source:The food isn't the best but you don't come here for the food. The food is just something for you to eat while drinking! Â Love buy one get one free Margarita Monday's and the brunch drink specials. Â The service is not the best either but never bad. Â The atmosphere is great sitting outside upstairs with an ocean view. Â They have music up there and sports on TV, all sorts of fun.
Review Source:This place is a 3 story on the Border type establishment. The middle floor is the main floor to get your eat on and a lil drink on. The menu has so many selections. I think if this place was on Bar rescue, it would be told to cut down the selections to a reasonable amount so the cooks won't be overwhelmed.
I went here after work with a couple of co-workers since we where up in the North county for the weekend. After a long day of work, we were starving like Marvin. I decided to order this Tampico enchilada which had scallops In it. It was at my table with the quickness along with my friend's orders. It had like 3 scallops in it. It was made so quick you know some of it was pre made. Anyway, the food is your typical fake Mexican food restaurant. If you want good food, you have to go down south, owww.
Upstairs is an open air lounge. It reminds me of the patio of PB Bar And grill, but in a roof top form. There's a Bar upstairs of course and music is played throughout their speaker. The level isn't too loud so you can carry a conversation with friends.  This level of the establishment is good if you want to chill and enjoy a few adult beverages with the company of good people. The music selection upstairs was a heavy rotation of electronic music and dance music.
Downstairs is the club basement type area. It's dark it's loud and its bumping with hip hop. The DJ played top 40 with a mix of some west coast gangsta rap. The crowed varied from skinny to chunky, friendly faces to mean angry at the world looking people. The crowd was mixed. A lot of the people were Oceanside locals. I guess this place is okay since, there's not a lot of spots in Oceanside. I'm glad I'm back in San Diego!
Horrible.
To sum things up.
The waiter brought out our checks before the drinks.
The waiter forgot to bring out a Patron shot.
The manager can over to tell us to get out of the bar since they were closing meanwhile we received our order 3 minutes prior. Then we mentioned the patron shot was missing and he called us a liar and after asking for the shot, Grant, (I think his name was) the manager, said "sure ill bring you out the cheapest crap tequila we have." :-0
Are you kidding me?
We were not causing a ruckus. We were just asking for the drinks we paid for. Then we asked him to bring over our waiter to confirm we were not lying. The waiter agreed that we were right and the manager felt so stupid. He apologized in the most in-sincerest way but offered to pay for the shot plus a couple more. That didn't cover up the way we were treated, however. I was beside myself by the way he spoke to us, I have never been treated that way, ever.
Horrible.
It's all about happy hour. Drinks are buy one get one free until 7 o'clock Monday through Friday. I came here on a Friday evening and they had some live music downstairs in the dining area. I only wish you could hear the music at the rooftop bar because they were playing some shit club music upstairs. The dude on the saxophone downstairs was ripping but if you came for happy hour upstairs you wouldn't even know. During happy hour it gets pretty packed upstairs you have to put your name in and wait at least an hour and a half to even get a table. Service at the bar is pretty slow during happy hour obviously cause there's a ton of people trying to cash in on buy one get one free. Good thing we were meeting some friends who frequent this place, as they knew the deal and put a name in well before we even got there! Once you get a table and can chill, it's pretty legit, rooftop bar...watch the sunset drink coronas ,I like! As the other reviews mention the service here isn't very great but the drink deal is pretty awesome. For example one of the bouncers told me that I couldn't sit on a ceramic fire pit that was not on, I didn't have a chair even though we waited for a table. He told me I might break it and I laughed. I promised him I only weighed 180 and he told me if I kept arguing he was gonna kick me out! So I asked him if he could help me find a chair and he just says there's a lot of people here. Definitely don't expect to be made welcome here. But after six coronas I didn't really care anymore. We had to wait for the table next to us to leave steal a chair from them and then magically new chairs were brought out to fill the empty spaces. I knew they had extra chairs that guy was just being a dick.
Between five people our total bill was like 35 bucks and we had gotten something like eight beers and two gin and sprite's and some carne Asada fries.
So a quick wrap up, I wish the live music was upstairs on the rooftop. The service is rather shitty but on the other hand you can get drunk on the cheap.
Possibly one of the worst bars I have been to. Following our friend's wedding we made the mistake of choosing this shit hole as the bar we would get a drink at. I ordered a margarita with maybe half a shot in it. Maybe. So after being unsatisfied with the alcohol content in my margarita I decided that if the bartender was pouring like a little vaj, I would get some alcohol from this stingy little bastard by ordering an adios MF. There was no Adios involved in my drink, all I received was the MF. I drank all night at an open bar prior to coming here. An Adios MF at any legit bar would have put my dick in the dirt.
The crowd I was with, myself included, work in the service industry. We were not stingy with tipping.
I wouldn't go to this bar unless I was paid to. Because we weren't from the area we were treated like we weren't welcome. Worst waste of an 18% tip was for the shit bartender and staff. Don't go here
This is the first time that I have eaten here. Â It was 2pm and the restaurant was nearly empty downstairs and less than half full upstairs. Â I ordered the 1/3 lb Angus beef burger and fries. Â The waitress was prompt and friendly and got my coke to me quickly. Â Although I noticed that my plastic glass was smaller than what was arriving at the other tables. Â I noticed that the other tables got chips and dip. Â I guess those aren't free? Â The waitress serving the chips was spending a long time talking to guests at other tables. Â The view from upstairs dining area was very nice of the ocean and people activity below. Â I was under one of their many fabric shades. Â I noticed that the food arrives on a cart via elevator, the cooking is done on the first floor. Â I was humored to watch the waitresses hand off the food delivery to whoever wasn't making drinks at the bar which was not aways a smooth operation. Â I noticed that one waitress picked up a food order and ran it back downstairs. Â However I was not that humored when my food arrived and it had cooled considerably from the elevator ride and the confusion as to who would deliver this batch from the cart. Â Halfway through the meal I tried to get the attention of two waitresses scurrying by to get my coke refilled but to no avail they were on a mission for their assigned tables and my waitress was mixing drinks. Â I finally got a second glass delivered and noticed that it was now the taller size as the ones on tables around me. Â Not sure of the significance, I guess just my luck that day. Â By the way, that 1/3 lb is precooked weight as I was surprised at how thin my burger meat was. Â Food was good but not hot nor were the waitresses. Â This will be a one time visit to this establishment for me.
Review Source:Bathrooms are disgusting, upstairs bar literally smells like mold and urine. Â I really have no idea why people love this place. Â Waitresses usually take their sweet ass time and p.s. they should keep their tortilla station hidden because I don't really like seeing waitresses mowing down on chips while I'm waiting to order.
Review Source:NO THANK YOU. used to go all the time and only ever got good service from some young man named sebastian..he had excellent customer service every time we went and he looks like he busts his butt  his whole shift..everyone else there just looks lazy and looks like they dont care..and the past few times I've been in hes not there anymore...what a bummer..... there pushing away their customers and their employees....
only plus is their next to the beach.
By the looks of this place and how busy it was on the upstairs patio we thought it would be a decent way to spend a sunday afternoon happy hour and sunset...how romantic. As it turns out, this place erked me as it fell short of every expectation. It took almost 30 mins to get seated and the staff were all in a hurry, seemingly half drunk from the night before. Luckily it was still happy hour and we were excited to get 2-for-1 drink specials. So when 2 pina coladas and 2 Long Islands for my lover showed up, we were taken aback. I didn't want two of the same drink, and neither did he. The waitress explained after the fact how the special really worked.
Needless to say we guzzled down as much as we could of our drinks before they were too watered down. With this much liquor to soak up, we ordered some happy hour food to go with. Except the waitress forgot to put in our order...sitting there for an hour waiting and what was left of our drinks was totally melted. After checking on the food twice, it finally came and the waitress lied to us that it took them so long to make chicken wings. Despite the anticipation of how good these must be given how long it takes to prepare them, when the food did arrive it was cold and everything tasted like it was microwaved with freezer burn.
The best part of this was when one of the guys sitting at a table next to us vomited on the floor and the waiters came by with a hose and washed it right under our feet. The constant cigarette smoking on the covered patio added a smoky loom and stench to the air of this place. It was so gross I'll never go back as long as I live. Poor service. Unfriendly. Smells of drunken vomit and stale cigarettes. Save yourself! Don't go here!
I don't know how so many people have terrible experiences here. I'm not going to try to be a huge advocate for this place, as I had my first visit for their Sunday bottomless Mimosa/ Bloody Mary/ Bloody Maria special just this week, but take my experience into consideration.
So the bottomless drinks cost 9.99 and go from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. We got our last drinks served to us at 1:38, which was definitely cool considering I was figuring they'd stop serving around 1:20. The catch is that you have to order an appetizer as well that costs at least 5 dollars, UH OH! So you spend 15 dollars for bottomless drinks and a snack and there's so many 1 star reviews as if they staff people who spit in your food and blast off racial slurs all day. Give the place a break.
Was the service very fast, no, it was bottomless drinks, it would be an awful business plan to have great service during that time, but I can guarantee you myself and all my friends had more than 10 drinks each, and I feel that makes it worth it. It wasn't crazy packed, it wasn't empty. The crowd was cool, the security guards are enormous and pretty damn intimidating. Saw a couple devil dogs there, but it wasn't a complete boot-fest like I was expecting.
Our waitress was OK but the bartender chick was really cool. I guess they could use a little more shade up on the roof. I'll definitely be back on Sundays.
WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! Â This restaurant is stealing from its customers. Â Went for drinks and dinner - gave the waitress $20 cash for a $14.12 receipt (which included tax) and she returned only $5 change. Â Because we had poor service by our waitress, we thought the mistake was her error, so we let it go, and considered the .88 cents she didn't return with our change as a "minimal" tip.
We made a point to speak to the manager before we left about our service experience and were informed it was the waitress's first day.  So we then thought  it would be wise to let them know that their cash register receipts for the night would be "off" because the waitress had miscalculated our change by retaining that .88 cents.  To our shock and surprise...the manager said, "No, she didn't make an error."  He told us the "owner" of the restaurant does NOT like the employees dealing in coin change so it is "policy" for their receipts to be "rounded-up or down" to the nearest "DOLLAR" so that they only give bills back!!!  He did ask if we wanted our change and then said, "People complain about it all of the time...but we just tell them our policy and then offer to give them their change back." Â
The problem with this is that it is illegal...it is called stealing. Â ALSO, I do not believe they round "DOWN" as a practice... because our bill was a perfect example that proved they do NOT.... If it were, I would have gotten a full $6.00 back (12 cents more than I should)...instead they ripped me off by stealing .88 cents from me.
Chipotle Restaurants are in a class action lawsuit for this same practice!!!
FYI- during the 1 hour time we ate in the restaurant ( had drinks and chips downstairs and then dinner upstairs on the patio...seated at a designated non-smoking table that was unbelievably "within" 5 feet of smokers standing at the bar!!) there were at least a good 150 total patrons in the restaurant - very busy and more people coming and going all the time (it was early during happy hour on a weekend). Â If everybody had 50-88 cents change retained by the restaurant...BEFORE ANY TIPPING and you multiply that times 6 or more hours the restaurant is open....you can do the math and see that we are talking about a LOT of undocumented income that they are not claiming as taxable income on a daily and weekly basis.
There are so many "honest" and fabulous eating establishments in North County...this is far from one of those...and it was clear, they "KNOW" what they are doing and do not want to fix it.... Â I can see why...it's a "cash cow" for them.... with no work involved!! Â STAY AWAY...except if you are the California Attorney General and City of Oceanside Law Enforcement.
The former Margarita Rocks aka, Marine Corp Rocks and now Cabo, completely different vibe and a much better mix than years past I come here for good vibes from their resident DJ KidRiz who usually does 1-2 nights plus Sunday.
Sunday's 2 for 1 HH is 4pm to close and NOT all day like most people think. They do have a good HH pricing and a decent selection of food.
Service is hit or miss, it's a big location and the coolest security you'll ever find. They have a great patio up stairs and I don't suggest you bring kids because it's loud and only part of the area is smoke free. The upstairs bar on Thursdays-Saturdays is packed, 2-3 deep all the way around, 20 minute wait and not worth it when it's that packed. The lighting and overhead decorative canopy are cool. This might be the go to if the dive bars around are a little too much or if your not beachy enough for breakwater or a hop head for stone.
Food is mediocre and barely Mexican food, not worth your time with much better within walking distance. Drinks are cheap and when rushed weak.
My wife and I dropped in here for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Â Clearly, the rooftop is the place to be. Â
Prices are a little steep for my taste. Â Service is ok, nothing to write home about.
Clearly this joint can get a little, ummm, "lively" as there were a handful of security guards pacing the joint. Â
Seems to be a case of an identity crisis. Â Is this place a club or a cool cantina? Â You really can't be both. Â Make up your mind.
Their service is horrid. A group of six and I went in and found a spot inside without a problem. Mind you it was 5pm on a Tuesday.... However, when I asked the waitress what a good drink was, and I took her suggestion, it tasted like grass in a blender. All six people at the table thought it was undrinkable and she still charged us for it!!! WTF. Gross. Some comments about the Island Mist drink were, "Toothpaste, grass in a blender, medicine, and just plain GROSS"! Also, they failed to give us napkins with our messy tacos, and even put an extra drink on the bill. I did not order a Mai Tia. I hate them so I know I did not order one...
Review Source:One of the worst experiences in my life!
A couple of friends and I were going to meet up there for happy hour. Two of us showed up early and ordered margaritas. I had forgotten my ID so I wasn't going to be drinking. The waitress takes our order and when she comes back puts a margarita in front of me and one in front of my friend. The drink looked good so I took a sip of my friend's drink before passing it back to her.
A minute later an angry manager comes yelling at our table that we needed to leave the premises and pay our bill. She nastily yanks the drink from my friend's hand and threatens to call security if we don't hurry up. She promises they won't be as nice as her. The restaurant was full and she made a huge scene. We were only seated for a total of about 5 minutes before being thrown out, she wanted my friend to pay for the drink she'd only sipped and everyone at the restaurant was staring at us.
I have been to many different bars and restaurants around the country and never have I been mistreated like I was at this restaurant. Sadly it was in my own hometown of Oceanside. .
With service people that obnoxious, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!
We were there this past weekend for both lunch and dinner. We had intended to go the club after dinner when one of us made the mistake of opening the wrong door downstairs. We were told that we were not allowed to go into the club, because we "could not read the sign." Â After insulting our intelligence, they all laughed at us. Â We spent a considerable amount of money there that night. Â They treated us like criminals and were very disrespectful to us. Â I would never go there again and would never recommend this place to anyone.
Review Source:Yikes. Â I'm not sure where to even begin with this place. Â I guess I'll begin, at the beginning...
We were excited to check this place out since it has 3 different levels/areas. Â We started out at the main level which is a casual restaurant/bar atmosphere. Â Sat at the bar because we were there to just drink and check things out & had already had dinner. Â Bartender was nice and drinks were good. Â However, she started telling us about all the fighting and mayhem that goes on every night. Â Umm, I'm sorry, fighting? Â Every night? Â "Oh wait, I need to go clean up the bathroom because some chick is throwing up..." Â I check my watch to see if I've gone through some weird time warp (because you know, after a certain time of hour it's appropriate to be throwing up in a public restroom), nope, it's only 8:45pm.
We cash out and head upstairs to the rooftop patio/bar. Â Packed. Â And packed with a crowd that I could easily picture fighting each other... or throwing up... or both. Â Oy. Â We had a drink and moved on...
Last stop, the basement "club". Â Have to say the music here was pretty good, but the crowd was, well, strange. Â A lot of people standing around watching a couple girls dancing (can we say: CREEPY). Â
Needless to say, I wasn't a fan of this place and I can't imagine going back. Â It looks from the reviews that I'm alone in my opinion of this place, so perhaps I as there on an off-night, but I don't think I need to go back to find out.
Seemed like a seedy place on the out but it really nice on the inside. Â Downstairs is small but cool and the upstairs has an amazing view and nice size tables with fire pits.
Food and service was okay. Â Could have been better or worse. Â Bartender was friendly, just a little unattentive. Â
Went on a Sunday and a great band was playing. Â
Would definitely go back just for the ambience.
We were two couples in for a quick bite during happy hour, CONS: Â sat in the downstairs dining area, 445 pm.... Â we just beat the crowd since the place filled up right after we were seated.... Â LOUD dining area, all the tile and decor is acoustically horrible making it difficult to even hold a conversation at the table. Â PROS: Â The waitress was very friendly and food and drinks came as expected. Â The freshness of the happy hour food was great. Â My burger was fresh and tasty. Â $4, Chicken taco had fresh pulled chicken on corn tortilla, $2. Â Two for one drinks are just that.... they bring you two.... Â Great food, great price, awesome service... Â just a bit noisey atmosphere for me...
Review Source:Was there Saturday night. Drinks was good but the bouncers ruined the night. Seemed like they was bored and looking for excuses to harass the patrons. Spent 200 in this place and there not welcome behavior ruined the whole night. I will never go here again unless they relieve all of there so called duties. Carlsbad next time peace out!!!!
Review Source:Happy Hour deals are very good at the Cabo Bar and Grill. Â Two for one drinks and very cheap food selections. Â I fully expected the foods on the Happy Hour menu to be lacking in quality but they were actually good. Â They also came in very big portions. Â I do not think I would ever be able to eat at this place during a time when they are not having some kind of deal. Â Overall, a good place to hang out with friends.
Review Source:Cabo Bar and Grill!!! It's three floors, top floor is a restaurant/bar (there's a ton of smokers though, so if you don't like smoke, don't ask to go upstairs). The middle floor is the restaurant/bar area. I didn't try any of the food, so I can't say if it was good or bad :-/ and then there's the bottom floor...lets just say there's a dance floor, bar, and a whole lot of sweat! Honest to goodness, I don't think there is any sort o ventilation down there at all. My sister and I dared to step out on the dance floor and after being cornered by some very eager-beaver-glasses-wearing-sweat-covered-guys, we has to run upstairs to escape the flood. (Lol okay, it wasn't that bad.) All of that being said, the music was pretty good and the bar tenders were awesome! I say go and give it a shot, we went on a fri night and I've heard sat nights are better!
Review Source:Come during happy hour! We came during "Industrial Sundays" where they extend the happy hour from 8pm-10pm. All the alcoholic drinks are buy one, get one free. There's also a food menu special during happy hour. Carne asada fries (french fries, carne asada, cheese and sour cream) Â for only $4! Get a few plates to share around the table.
The rooftop atmosphere is great. We were seated right away when we came at 830 pm. Fire pits and heaters will keep you and your guests cozy. There's a DJ spinning as well. This place doesn't get 5 stars because service can be slow, but the view and atmosphere compensates!
Fun place for a night out. The service was SUPER slow. It took forever to get a drink and then to close our tab. It would have been a lot more fun if the service had been better. Â
They have buy one get two drinks for happy hour which is from 4-7 so that's nice. I'm not sure if it was just that night but we were really irritated with how long it took to not only order but receive our drinks. And when we finally got our drinks my friends beer was warm..
