I love me a good local bar.
A friend was the entertainment for the night, so our group of twenty-somethings took over what is an unmistakably a townie pub.
We ordered CHEAP beers (they have a GREAT selection--and pour a damn good Guinness), a selection of fried apps (I don't know what kind of crack they put in their potato skins, but it kept me coming back for more) and had oursevles a good ol' time.
I think the locals got a kick out of us--we danced and drank liberally and made friends with everyone in the place.
It's got its quirks--the entire place pays homage to Boston College hockey, and there are elaborate instructions for flushing the toilets, but quirky is good.
I'm looking forward to our friend's next performance, if only for the pototo skins.
P.S. Heads up--CASH ONLY!
Cappy's is definitely a local bar. Â The first time you visit you may not be impressed by the service - but trust me it gets a whole lots better if you come again. Â They make a great burger for a nice price. Â They serve breakfast all day and have half priced pizzas on some nights - including Thursday night which is trivia night. Â Starts at 8 - get there early to get a spot. Â Pitchers of beer are cheap and popcorn is free. Â Fish and Chips on Friday are tasty too. Â A Must visit if you like low-key neighborhood bars.
