I don't usually like calling out specific employees at places, but I can't help myself here.  Um, Vinson is absolutely horrible.  After coming here with a group of people the other night, once we all realized he was our server (after each SEPARATELY receiving horrible service from him in the past), we almost left.

He's grumpy, never refills water, never re-visits our table, and just generally unpleasant.

The food is pretty good, but seriously, City O', get your crap together.  Can't say much good about the rest of the servers either.  In agreement with Jasmine C. below, stop worrying about looking cool and flirting with each other and actually do your job.

You renovated your space so why don't your renovate your employees and hire people who actually know how to take care of their customers?

YUMMY!! I was so excited to eat at this place. It is a very alternative vibe. The prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious! I loved my Vegan pizza which featured Seitan sausage and daiya cheese! I had to talk myself out of the tempting desserts which I am still kicking myself about. They had an EXTENSIVE menu, and lots of vegan and gluten free options. Anyone could eat here and be satisfied. Did I mention they serve breakfast all day?!

WORST service EVER.   This is the second time I have been here.  The first time was not much better, but they were busier, so I gave them a pass... This time?  They weren't even busy...  We showed up at 2:00 for lunch.  There were 3 of us.  Took 15 minutes to get water.  There were only 4 other tables around us.  Then, when our food came out, one order was missing.  We waited, and ate almost HALF our meals before one of us got up to go find out waitress.  She was at the hostess stand, and they were standing around measuring how tall they were.....  Needless to say...She didn't "measure up" as a waitress...  She gave us some line of BS about the food getting burned and needing to be recooked...  Which would have happened in the time that we waited before coming to find her.  We waited another 15 minutes for the waffle.... Then I had to go find her AGAIN for our check and boxes.  The food was okay, but definitely NOT worth the hassle of dealing with a waitstaff with no personality or skill.  Will NOT be going back .. Ever.  Overpriced and Underserviced.

It's not often that I have a meal that I think about constantly after I leave, but the Fork and Knife sandwich did it for me.  Wow that thing was good.  I keep telling people about it as one of the highlights of my recent trip to Denver.  The vegan bbq tofu and mac and cheese were tasty too, but the "sandwich" was the clear winner.

Overall, I really liked City O'City. The wait was kind of long but things seemed to go quickly enough. We got to sit at a counter where we could see the food being prepared and plated. Everyone seemed happy to be working their tails off which must mean they're doing something right.

I was glad vegan items were clearly marked and there were tons of choices. It's great when restaurants are aware of those things!

This place is a hot mess, hipster den.

I have given City O' City a fair try, and they never get it right. I have lived on the east and west coast and have experienced great vegetarian meals many times. This restaurant lacks food integrity and consistency. The staff is so worried about looking cool that they couldn't care less if their patrons are satisfied.

I ordered take-out recently from them and the kid who took it over the phone said that it would take ten minutes tops. Twenty five minutes later, I am sitting in my work clothes waiting in a throng of desperate hipsters for two udon noodle bowls and tempura battered peppers.

He had clearly never put the order in. He was too worried about his side bang and pseudo intellectual appearance.

And the worst part is that I got it home and the broth to the soup had the taste of warmed sink water. When I bit into the peppers it was like chewing on a ball of batter dipped in old fish oil. The meal if you can call it that was offensive.

Never again. Especially now since I wrote such a scathing review. If you want a good vegetarian meal in Denver make it yourself.

So you're thinking about going to a vegetarian/vegan only restaurant? Expect that it's not a Chili's or a sports bar...it's going to be weird and sustainable and they will play music that you most likely haven't heard of...so what? Prices are not going to be dirt cheap, but they are reasonable for sure. 2 people, 2 drinks, 1 app, 2 entrees, 1 dessert = just under $50. Seems about right to me yeah?

Anyhow, the service was great. I had a few questions about plating and ingredients and the server was super helpful and knowledgeable.  No attitude at all, just attentive service without being overbearing....which is a tough trick to pull off. Even my bitchy date commented on how much she liked the service.

The food. Shishito peppers were perfect. I had the Udon Bowl (sub Quinoa for the Egg), and it was remarkable. I have ate some seriously high end noodle dishes (living in LA) in my days and this would have held up against any of them. I could not have thought of one single thing to improve the dish, and as a chef, that it my highest compliment. Date had the pizza, which I didn't sample but she enjoyed it thoroughly. A small was plenty for two people I thought.

I will be coming back to try nearly everything on the menu as it all looked good enough to give it a shot after how perfect the first entree I tried.

Other things not to miss...coffee bar and the pastry display close to the front door both are wonderful.

So I went back to City O City after a long hiatus, and I'm so glad I did!
We went in for the seitan wings, and it also was happy hour.  The food was good, the drinks were cheap.  Same as before.
But wow, what a difference.  The restaurant has been re-done and is a lot bigger, and it looks great.  The music playing was great, not the heavy metal blasting through the joint like it used to be,  And the service was really good.
I am so glad the management at City O City made some great changes to the place to make it a more welcoming spot...I will definitely be back regularly!

Their food was fantastic and vegan/vegetarian friendly. The menu has normal options and all you have to say is you want whichever item... except made vegan and they just do it for you... That's really convenient! The jelly and biscuit were my favorite part, but the breakfast burrito made vegan was also quite fabulous. I will definitely visit this place again.

Recently moved here with my girlfriend from Los Angeles where there seems to be a lot more vegetarian restaurant options. Although I'm not vegan, my favorite restaurants coincidentally always are. I have been to quite a few.

Tried this place the other day and am honestly having a difficult time determining if I have ever had vegetarian food worse than this. The food was just bland. The portions were also comically small considering the price.

That said, we did only try two dinner meals that we picked up. To be fair, we should probably try some other meals here to confirm this place really sucks.

We did try another restaurant, watercourse, and thought it was great.

I think I have had almost everything on the menu at this point.  Excellent.  They can do no wrong!  Good anytime of the day.  If you're there for brunch try the Chilaquiles and their Bloody Mary.

One word: LOVE.  I immediately knew this place was for me.  Trendy, fun and full of personality.

The service was great and our waiter (unfortunately not the awesome one from when I first arrived) was awesome as well. The food, simply delicious.  I was so impressed to find the wide variety of items on the menu.  Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten Free options range from appetizers, to salads, sandwiches, entrees and pizza.  Oh and all their desserts are vegan too.  I mean, what more can a vegan girl ask for?

I was blown away by the Seitan wings, they really reminded me of something I ate at Hooters back in the day!  My bf and I shared the Fork and Knife and the La Chagall pizza.  As for the pizza they offer it with cheese, but you can get it cheese-less, with Daiya, or Cashew Ricotta.  We had it with the cashew ricotta and it was simply divine.   The Fork and Knife dish was flavorful and filling!  We left with plenty of food for tomorrow which doesn't happen often since I'm a big eater.  I'm happy to say that the dish sizes are ample and the food is not over priced in my opinion.  Sometimes veggie restaurants tend to serve smaller portions, do they think we don't eat as much just because we don't eat meat?  Well not here.

I am looking forward to my next trip to City O City and considering a special trip to Denver just for another taste of the wonderful vegan cuisine :)

In a way, I don't love this place.  I've eaten at this place both during times where I was a technical carnivore as well as more recent times where I am not.  The food is OK-ish.  Not bad, but not great.  More importantly, the menu confuses me.  The stuff they add into dishes makes me feel like Sally from when Harry Met Sally when I order because I completely change the dish.  I wish this place stuck to basics because their idea of jazzing up certain meals doesn't jive, both to me and a few of my friends.  Additionally, the waitstaff is either good, friendly and attentive...or the exact opposite (often the exact opposite).

That said, they have the best veggie burger I've ever had...period.  It's made of beans and quiona and they use a special sauce that is amazing.  For this dish alone I'll be going back more regularly than I used to.

And for what it's worth, the fries are amazing.  Not that you go to a place like this for fries but they are surprisingly good!

The dream of the 90's is alive at City O' City.  Can you tell me more about the tofu-macro plate?  Is it local? Is it vegan? Is this gluten free? Is it organic? Like, USDA certified organic or just all across the board organic?  These are questions that I ask all the time at other restaurants.  I usually get bewildered looks from my waiter as they tell me, "... We don't have tofu-macro plates.  This is a steak house."  "WELL HMMPH!" I respond! "I'll just go somewhere where the waiters are perpetually hung over and covered with tattoos and piercings! Where at any given point in time, there's an entire family who all have dreadlocks sitting at a table! A place that has lemongrass kombucha!  A place that always plays the latest tracks from Metronomy and LCD Soundsystem! Psh, I bet you don't even know who those bands are."

I've been back several times since my original review.  I do love their food, but I have to give it 3 stars for service.  I usually get sub-par, snobby service.  If I end up with a friendly server, it's rare.  So I normally stick with Watercourse, their sister restaurant, as Watercourse has a more expansive menu and friendlier staff.  But there are a few menu items that keep me going back to City, O' City from time to time.

It pains me to only give what was once one of our favorite restaurants only three stars, but since the whole rebirth of City O' City this past year, both service and food have decreased drastically. Just to make a reservation for 5 or more people involves giving them your credit card number over the phone, which they will charge 'service fees' to if half of your party or more does not show. $25 extra. Starting off with zero trust in your customers, with a host who is incredibly annoyed if you hesitate to fork your card over, is a little grating. They made such a big deal about if you don't keep it or being late that we showed up a little early - and then were forced to wait next to our empty, set up, reserved table for fifteen minutes.

The ambiance used to be really cool and low key, but now with the new extra half, it's incredibly noisy and hard to hear. Our waitress was super cute and sweet, but the food she delivered was sub par to what we've grown used to there. Even the seitan wings, which are my favorite wings in Denver (and I'm a huge meat eater) have gotten worse. Less sauce, less crispy, more bland. The drinks are much more watered down. The price has unfortunately only gone up though. It's decent food, but just not the mouth-watering-mind-blowing kind it used to be. We keep coming, thinking maybe with the whole redo of the menu and cooking staff that it will get better over time, and we're still leaving disappointed. I really hope they catch their stride again.

The BEST vegetarian place in town. Hands down. They have the best vegan (seitan) wings I've ever tried. Good beer on tap (a bit pricey though) and a great selection of booze and drinks behind the bar. Awesome happy hour specials. It's a bit hipster for me but if you go on the weekdays and early it isn't to bad.

Well, I just discovered the seitan buffalo "wings" and they are divine.  Very filling.  I tried the savory crepe last night and while it takes a little time to get used to I liked it over all.  I love the renovations the place has made.  I'll keep going here for my vegan fix.

The food is not as good as it used to be and the service was completely horrible. So bad that it makes the experience even worse. Trying not to hate on them so much because I loved this place for a long time but.... seriously, the servers there are fucking terrible. Some of the worst experiences ever. Hey guys, guess what, we didn't make you work there it was your choice.

Food is mediocre and some dishes are just bland and boring.

It's too bad because I used to go there a couple times a week and it's completely changed. Good for them though, expanding and having 2x the traffic.

Probably will go back if there isn't anything else open.

If you are a vegan, vegetarian, or a clean eater this is a must-stop restaurant.
The "El Jefe" sandwich in particular is out of this world.
They have an interesting selection of items on the menu, and the staff is extremely courteous.

This is also a great stop for morning coffee with a freshly baked-from-scratch vegan treat as they have a side coffee bar near the front.

I've eaten at City O' City twice, once for brunch and once for appetizers and cocktails at happy hour, and I had very different experiences of the food both times.

The first time, I had the Saison (Roasted San Marzano tomato, chili pepper jam and Gruyère on a Saison roll, grilled and topped with a fried egg or tofu and Dijon dressed arugula). This sandwich can transport you to another realm, if the equation tomatoes + arugula+bread+ Dijon=bliss describes your taste, as it does for me. The truly bizarre thing about it is that for reasons unknown, they put the tomato inside the bread and the arugula on top, which is gimmicky and makes the sandwich hard to eat. But. The Dijon is outstanding. It has the horseradishy quality of very strong mustard.

The second time, I ordered the Poutine. It was very, very, bad. Individually, the gravy might be good (I've heard people rave about it). But the fries were overcooked and not seasoned well or in an interesting way, and the dish was bland. We had some sort of kimchi appetizer as well; it wasn't memorable.

As for the space, the front room is delightful. It is light, airy, and well-designed. I love the hanging ornaments in this room. I'd be sad if I got stuck in the back room. I always think it is a questionable move to add on to a space without unifying the decor and feeling of the original room with the additional one.

Going to keep giving this place chances. It feels great to be in this space (in the front room, at least), and the Saison begs me to return for lunch or dinner.

City O is easily my favorite restaurant in Denver. I love pretty much everything about the place:  the food, the ambience, the staff, the drinks, and the other customers. But mostly, I love that this restaurant has a heart to go along with all its hipster-ness, and this comes through in every aspect of the place. Being vegetarian/vegan has never been so easy, and I'm so grateful that restaurants like this even exist, let alone flourish like City O'City apparently does.

I have eaten at this restaurant so many times, that I've probably managed to have everything on the menu. My favorite time to eat here is Sunday brunch, when the vibe is uber mellow and the food/drink selections are awesome. The omelets are always fantastic, but I prefer the biscuits to the corn muffins. The savory waffles are generally enjoyed by everyone I know who has had them, and the mix up the kinds of waffles regularly. The Bloody Marys are perfectly spiced and go down nicely. The beermosas and shandys are also a great way to kick back and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon.

That all said, I also like going there for dinner when I'm too tired or too lazy to make a meal at home. The sandwiches are filling and rich, and the entrees vary among a faux meatloaf type of deal with impossibly yummy gravy to udon noodles to a simple penne dish. The pizzas are also good, with a thin, flavorful crust. Although I am mostly vegan, I don't recommend the vegan versions of the pizzas, unless you are okay with vegan cheeses that don't melt nicely and have that off-taste. The desserts are generally delicious, but make sure the sugar cookies are fresh before getting them. I have had the best sugar cookies ever here, but I have also gotten sugar cookies hard enough to use as hockey pucks. On the other hand, the seitan wings make you want to drop to your knees and speak,in tongues, they're that good.

The staff are friendly and laid back. The music is happily eclectic and there is a dog friendly patio for outdoor dining. I may be weird, but one of my favorite things about the restaurant is the women's restroom, where there is some of the best bathroom scrawling ever. Graffiti in the bathroom...how fun is that?

    Um, yes please!

After lots of recommendations, we finally made our way to City o' City for brunch this past weekend. We got there after 11am and the wait was about 15 minutes - which was pretty accurate. We finally got seated and were so excited for amazing vegetarian and vegan food!

I'll start with the downside which cost them a start - service was definitely slow - everything seemed to take way longer than it should have and our waitress was visibly upset with the kitchen staff - so clearly something wasn't going right. Oh yeah - and they were out of a bunch of items. Specifically a lot the items we tried to order, they were out of (like gravy - who runs out of gravy on a Saturday at brunch!?). They really should lose another star for that - BUT the food we ordered was SO GOOD that it makes up for it.

We got a side of breakfast potatoes, the savory waffle and buffalo seitan wings. The potatoes were good - pretty good. But, I dunno - breakfast potatoes are breakfast potatoes. The savory waffle was unbelievable. I feel like City o' City has revolutionized the waffle. We were miffed that we couldn't try the Waffle of the Day (guess what - they were out!) - but the savory waffle left us wanting more. And the wings were perfection. The best non-meat wings I've ever had, and honestly - probably better than any of the meat wings I had when I was a meat-eater.

Can't wait to go back - just hope they're not out of items and service is better.

In celebration of my 100th check in here this morning I felt it was high time I updated my review.  Since I last reviewed so much has changed at COC...Larger space, larger menu, larger egos, a new patio, a every changing waffle of the week, I could go on and on.

I will preface by saying I love COC but it has become quite a tumultuous relationship.  For example, I once ate sit down service here about 2-3 times a week now a days I pick up my meal here about once a week if that.  We all get to that point in the relationship where you just don't want to feel ignored by your server any longer.  But the truth of the matter is when my roommate sends me a text that reads "Seitan Wings" I have a  Pavlovian response as my mouth begins to water.

I will not give up on you dear COC and just like in a tumultuous relationship I will come back, yet again, just hoping for great service with a smile when I enjoy sit down service.  Most likely I will leave thinking - next time I will pick it up for sure.

So busy here at 930 on a weeknight! Actually had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We had Googled veg food while visiting Denver and decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately I had a cold, with no desire at all to drink. I got some sort of cold remedy hot tea that did the trick and was delicious. Ordered the dry rubbed tofu with cooked greens and Mac and cheese. Never would I have guessed this cheese was vegan, it was delicious! I'm not a fan of any vegan cheese actually, I believe this was coconut milk based. Whatever it was made from, it was slammin. The tofu was a prefect texture with amazing flavor. I've been dreaming about this meal since we left Colorado! My boyfriend had the waffle with melted Teleggio and vegetables, which was amazing as well. It definitely had a busy bar area, and is a more casual place, very affordable and worth every dollar.

I had heard so many things about City O' City for years now, but for some reason it took me so long to get here.  Despite raving reviews regarding  the food, the bar, and the overall scene, I still didn't quite understand the genius that this place is until I actually came here.  Maybe I pictured this place to be just about vegetarian food, but really it is so much more.  After my initial experience here, I have been back about a dozen times in the past three months and can say that it has become a mainstay in my weekend outings.

Not being a vegetarian, I was skeptical with an inclination on heading to other establishments for my late night fix (food and non-food related). However, after reading the menu and getting helpful recommendation from staff, I quickly overcame my cynicism of a solely vegetarian menu.  So many menu items are altered to reflect meat dishes that are far more complex and superior than any other bar menu in town.  Food items are across the board and range from my favorite udon noodle bowl and the tofu schnitzel to savory waffles and frito misto.

Beyond the food, I am content hanging at the bar all evening.  Original music selections, with a good draft beer selection, and one of the coolest bar tenders in town, I have grown immensely fond of coming here to start the night, break up the night, end the night, or complete the night out.

    Never again!

I've eaten here about 6 times, and quite frankly the food is just too inconsistent.  The staff is a little too hipster --I've done nothing in my life, but I am cool-- for me.  Every time I have eaten here there has been a problem with the food.  Either cold, over seasoned, or over cooked.  The staff needs to worry less about their appearances, and more about serving customers.  What a pretentious load of BS this place is.  I guess if you want to go in and get loaded with the staff and hoot and holler at the bar this is your place.  I became a vegan when I gave up drinking and don't need to be surrounded by drunk loud kids when I'm eating out.  The mix of a loud bar and "healthy dinning" just seems illogical to me, and unfortunately you never know if the food here will be really good, or crap.  My experience is about a 50/50 chance either way.

I reluctantly visited City O' City again this evening, and as long as I can help it, it will surely be the last time.

I've tried this place several times as a former Cap. Hill resident, and the pastries in the morning are great - other than that, there is nothing impressive about this hipster haven.  The thing that bothered me most, even before their remodel, was the horrid service.  The wait staff and their helpers are SO ridiculously rude, it is a wonder I ever went back after the first visit.  For an example, our waitress this evening condescendingly rejected my request for a diet soda, because "we only serve natural soda."  That's fair, and excuse me for loving my chemically-enhanced sodas, but you don't have to be rude about it.

The food is sub-par.  This evening I had a the margherita pizza, it literally had NO flavor (I had to drown the thing in hot sauce) and the middle was as soggy as it gets.  My waitress asked how my meal was and I replied with, "okay" and there were no further questions asked.  (As a former waitress, if a customer replied with anything less than "great!" when asked that question, I would certainly try to find out what the problem was, then do what I could to solve it.)  I did have the tortilla soup to start which was pleasant but nothing extraordinary.

To top off my sad experience, the waitress kindly described a special for the table next to ours - it was some delicious sounding fried corn on the cob dish... uh, YUM! - but she totally failed to tell our table about it!  I certainly would have tried that, but we didn't even know it was an option!

I am DONE going to this place.  It's overpriced, the service is just awful, and the food is nothing to brag about.  Tonight's visit ensured that I will never, ever return to Shitty O' Shitty.  Like ever.

I'm fairly certain the 444 reviews that have come before me have probably covered why City O is a hot spot. So I will refrain from delving into the details of the light vegetarian/vegan fare, the pros of serving Pablos coffee, excellent cocktails, so many teas the head spins, delicious beery brews, and yummy desserts. Instead I shall focus on two highlights: 1) The cashew ricotta and 2) The lovely entertainment of the bathroom graffiti art.

First off, I must tell you that I am lactose-intolerant and I miss pizza like an amputee misses his lost arm, okay? People so often tell me to just order a pizza without cheese... like that's a good option. No, I will not. That's just breadsticks with dry sauce and veggies and I refuse to endure the pain of eating THAT while I watch you stretch your pizza away from you as you form a tightrope of stringy cheesey goodness to arm's length hoping it doesn't break and grease up your cute, hipster shirt. No. Instead, I will gladly go to City O and order a pizza of my choice with the cashew ricotta option and make yummy noises while I enjoy the best fake cheese I've ever had. EVER. Soy cheese ain't got nothin' on this.

Secondly, every time I use the bathroom at City O I leave with a smile... and not because of any naughty business, so you can just rid your mind of the sanitation implications you may be wondering about right now. But everywhere I turn are happy little sayings and greetings on the stall. Things like "you ARE worth it" and "as long as the world knows war it will not know peace" and "hey girls - stop dating douchebags." It's great. I have never enjoyed graffiti more. Now I can only hope that the men's room is equally as inspiring, but I can't speculate on the topic.

I love City O. I frequent it often. I love the fritto misto, the seitan (aka satan) wings, the ho-ho cupcake, the Pablo-ness of my coffee, the copper mugs for my Moscow mule, the comfy chairs, the hipster ambiance, the good music, the nice waitstaff, and yes... the cashew ricotta and the bathroom graffiti.

    Go here. It's awesome.

Since transitioning to a vegan diet last year, I used to run into issues eating out. I could never seem to find a restaurant where I could have a meal without meat or dairy that I wanted to eat. Not anymore!

Not only is City O' City one of the best vegan friendly places I've ever been, their cocktails are amazing! They actually have copper mugs for Moscow Mules, but you gotta trade your ID for it as collateral. Sneaky, sneaky. The beer selection is great, they have a lot of Colorado microbrews on tap. They serve Pablo's coffee, and if you never have had Pablo's coffee - GO TO PABLOS! What have you been doing with your life? The atmosphere here is very laid back, and by laid back, I mean: The lighting isn't too bright, the walls are decorated with pieces by local artists (if you see something you like, you can buy it right there), great music,  you have the option of sitting at the bar, in a booth, at a table, and now outside on their new patio.

Now, this is a very hipster-y locale. If that bugs you, you have other problems and should probably get checked out.

Their Seitan is great! Tantalizing, succulent, and just tasty.

I've missed pizza more than I can even begin to describe. I used to eat pizza at least twice a week (especially through my undergrad). Who eats pizza without cheese... that just sucks. But, thanks to City O' City's Cashew Ricotta, I can eat pizza again! I've never had a better cheese substitute, it's freaking amazing. I literally could eat here every night!

The oil used to fry their fried foods is Rice Bran Oil. Google it, its awesome. Seriously, you'd be hard pressed to not find at least something you like on their menu that's not only healthy, but super delicious!

But, hey, if delicious healthy food doesn't appeal to you, skip City O' City and find your nearest KFC or Steak N' Shake.

I will start off with something positive. The food here is great- and if you hit happy hour the prices are great too.

I would be a regular customer of City O City because I live 2 blocks away, but I am not because the staff here is just, well, rude. Most of the servers, bar tenders, and hosts have a "too good for you" attitude, which has frustrated me every single time I have been to City O City. Usually one requested drink or food item is left out and never served, regardless of how many times I ask for the missing item. Don't bother asking questions either- the staff will act like you should know and give you the answer with a bad attitude.

It really is amazing what service can do to enhance a place.

I say 3 stars instead of 4 simply because the service was mediocre at best.  We really waited 20 minutes for our server to run our credit card.  A friend of mine and I both ordered iced tea.  Someone brought out 1 iced tea, and the next one didn't come out for at least 10 minutes after, with no explanation.  If they ran out, were brewing some or basically any reason under the sun, I wouldn't care at all...as long as they shared the information up front.

Another friend asked what cupcakes were available and the server very rudely said that he hadn't had any time to check.  My friend responded and said she'd have the carrot cake.  He immediately told her that there definitely wasn't any carrot cake left (as we were walking out we saw several carrot cake cupcakes on the shelf.)

Setting the service aside, which I will attribute to one person having an off day, the food was great! We loved our salads, loved the mac n cheese and the strawberry cake my friend had was just as tasty as the carrot cake.  Hopefully the next time I come in the service will be better.

I was visiting from out of town and seeking out any and all vegan-friendly establishments in Denver. I arrived at City O City around 9am and proceeded to order from their breakfast menu. I chose the tofu omelette with cashew cheese and the power waffle. I liked the waffle although it was a bit pasty in the center. The omelette was acceptable although it did not resemble an omelette. Instead it was basically scrambled tofu with a bit of cashew cheese strewn about. I happen to know that it is possible to make a tofu omelette that closely resembles an egg omelette and suggest to City O City that a bit of experimentation in the kitchen should yield the aforementioned result and bring about a nice improvement to the current recipe.

Still and all, I was glad to experience City O City, not the least because I struck up a conversation with a pretty Israeli girl who happened to be seated next to me and proved to be a pleasant dining companion.

"Hot sauce" and "more cocktails" doesn't even sound remotely alike, so when I ask for one, don't bring me the other. Who puts hot sauce on pizza anyway?

Last time I was here I went through my entire meal without even knowing who our server was. Random people would stop by throughout the course of the meal to wait(?) on us, but none of them really followed through on anything.

The food was tasty, but the drinks are wayyyyyyy overpriced.

Running an all vegetarian place focusing on pizza and sandwiches and catering to the most stringent diets is, I'm sure, an uphill task. But City O' City handles it amazingly well. The food is quite good. Their Margarita pizza is light and delicious, the "sausage" is amazingly close to the real thing, and the seitan wings are a must-have. Along with a nice wine and beer list, this should be a great dining experience for anyone.

Unfortunately, the experience is tarnished by the "could not give a ****" attitude of the waitstaff. Other than a few exceptions, I've been treated like the server is somehow doing me a big favor by stopping by my table once or twice during the course of the meal. Especially on a slow weeknight, it would really go a long way to spend an extra 5 minutes to make your customers feel welcome.

Talk about a place that is too cool for school!  I guess I'm not hipster enough for you, City O'.  The last thing I want to feel is apprehensive when someone suggests we eat here.  Is most of the food delicious?  Yep.  Can you get $3 glasses of wine after 11pm?  Yep.  Will you feel undeserving and feel like everyone is secretly wondering what makes YOU think you could step into their precious little abode?  You betcha.

I really only like the half that was there before the remodel.  The dim lighting has you thinking you're in someone's living room.  Then, they went and stripped the good stuff from the menu and threw in some industrial weird lighting that makes you feel like you're in some hip NYC spot.  That will probably be a plus to many of you, but I choose laid back over cosmopolitan.  I definitely feel like all the waitstaff is in on some little inside joke that I'm not apart of when I'm here. Wahhh Wahhh....

If you want a place that has good veg options, head to Vine Street.  Hippies are much nicer and the only thing we'll snicker at is the amount of time you spend TRYING to look disheveled.  Sigh.
