I have been here on several Sundays. They do not serve food on Sunday. Â BUUUT they have given out FREE food a couple times while I was there for the patrons, which is awesome! AND YUMMY TOO!
They have really good stuff on tap. They are friendly and he atmosphere is awesome too!
Now everything would be awesome if you didn't have to go to Lawrence to get there. But I ain't skeered. I go there anyway.
Big bad Law-Town doesn't scare me.
I grew up only a few towns over.
Don't let the area scare you either. Give this place a chance if you love a coupla pints.
Just had our office Xmas party here. Â The staff went out of their way to make this event a success.
We had opted for Buffet which had plenty of food. Â No worries about people gripping about quantity. Â The food was great, freshly made and served right on time.
The dance floor is HUGE!! It is a great space for a party. Â Only drawback is stairs are a little much if you have an older crowd. Â (no elevator which doesn't matter if you live in NYC but for this area one flight seemed to be a big deal.)
Came here as part of a 4 mile road race through the center of Lawrence. There were probably around 1000 people around here, as well as spectators and various hangers-on. Under those circumstances, one would expect mass confusion, long lines at the bar and at the door, and just not a lot of fun.
I'm glad to say I was wrong. The bar and wait staff handled the throngs well, moving fast and courteously, stepping in wherever bottlenecks started taking place and moving the crowd along well. Prices weren't at all unreasonable and, while the variety wasn't what one gets at a fancy nightclub or exclusive Boston bar...it more than made for a satisfying post-race experience. And, most amazingly, the 'facilities,' were kept relatively clean and properly functioning through all of this.
Good size facility with substantial floor space and a function room upstairs. Will go back when the patio is open to the warmer weather. It's more of a working-class local tavern than a yuppie bar. Not pretty but pretty good.
If you live in the Merrimack Valley, The Claddagh is your destination for a weekly high school reunion on Thursday nights. And just like a high school reunion, you will find yourself binge drinking and hugging people you never liked.
The drinks are inexpensive when compared to Boston prices and the service is adequate. The space is large but you might end up waiting in lines (especially the night before Thanksgiving) when the masses are looking to get sloshed. There's also a stage for live bands and an outdoor patio for smoking/drinking while enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Lawrence...sirens...gunshots...domestic violence.
Upstairs there's a function space (which surprise surprise, held my 5 year high school reunion). Nothing fancy, just an open space with tables, a dance floor, and a bar.
I'd say the best thing about The Claddagh is that when you find yourself stumbling out the doors at closing time there's a sausage vendor waiting near the parking lot.
Drunk sausage. It's a good thing.
I have a good time here. Â The few and far between times I visit. Â And I always roll with some pretty big friends in this place. Â Tis close to the ghettoooo.
Not a bad place, drinks are pretty cheap. Â Endless selection of beer and liquor, but be prepared to fight your way to the bar. Â This place is packed on weekends. Â And as of late, (my 29 b-day) Â I may be the oldest one in the crowd. Â Def a college age bar. Â On a not so busy night tho, there's pool tables, usually a band, a "patio" outside for smokers and a faux sausage guy.
