Of the two chinese food places in town - this one is the choice, and against most others in neighboring towns, this is still my go-to place. Price suits the product, I never have any problems with my orders - though I mostly order for myself so that probably helps. They also have, in the past, combined appetizers into a combo meal for me (fried wonton combo anyone?) They've saved me plenty of times by being open late enough and for whatever reason I didn't get a chance to eat dinner at a normal hour.
I live within walking distance, but on those lazy days I sometimes wish this place delivered, and I know for a fact people at work (with a 1/2 hour lunch) would order from here if they did.
My first gripe is that you cannot find the menu online anywhere. Â Really?? Â What year is it?
This restaurant uses vegetable oil instead of peanut oil. Â I think this makes chinese food bland. Â They do use enough seasonings to offset this somewhat.
The comments about errors in orders were confirmed on each of my three trips here. Â I will never walk away from the counter / allow the delivery person to leave the porch without making sure my order is correct.
The hot & sour soup is ok. Â It could definitely be spicier.
The shrimp egg rolls are good.
The steamed pork dumplings are excellent.
The shrimp egg foo young needed another egg to give it enough to contain the veggies and shrimp.
Szechuan Chicken was good, but not very spicy. Â i could see they used a red hot sauce of some kind. Â It seemed less spicy than tobasco, and there were no chinese hot peppers to be found anywhere.
Shrimp fried rice is about average for a
chinese carry-out.
