Not a fan of Clyde's. The food is average at best, and the service was awful. It took our waitress three times to get one of the orders right (vegetarian with a dairy allergy) and she gave us attitude each time we told her it wasn't right. We weren't being picky about meat temperature or anything - she literally could not eat what was put in front of her. Twice. The only thing this place has going for them is location - it's great to sit outside during the summer concerts, but that's about it. Drinks are pricier than at other places in Reston Town Center. If you're looking for a good meal with quality food and service, head to Paolo's Italian Ristorante across the way.

Very disappointing. Mediocre service, poor atmosphere and mediocre food. Ordered the veggie burger which comes with an "ancho mayo". When I inquired what this was they informed me it was an anchovy mayo. This was not adequately explained in their menu and had I not asked I would have received a non vegetarian veggie burger. This is unacceptable for an item most would assume to be compliant to a vegetarian diet. Won't be going back here.

Great atmosphere and really good food.
Diverse menu but not too much to distract from the great flavors.
We started with the cheese platter, which had a great variety of cheeses and breads.
We tried the lump crab cakes and the scallops - both were off the charts delicious!
Their wine list is extensive and well developed.
We finished with a hot fudge sundae - they really cover all the bases.
Our sweet server took very good care of us.
I truly enjoyed the entire experience.

Notoriously inconsistent, when it hits on all cylinders it is hard to beat.  Great outdoor patio w/o auto traffic.  Great wine list with great prices and plenty of by the glass selections.

Many different menu options, great monthly specials, and always good sandwich/soup/chili options.

More often than not, the food is well prepared and the service friendly, though busy.  Always noisy inside.

I went here while visiting my parents for a week and I really enjoyed the nautical themed decor and polite service. I will note that I'm a vegetarian, so I didn't try any of their steak or seafood, but the veggie burger was really big and pretty decent. Overall, the experience was nice.

Although the service is ehh, the food and its prices are the best thing to happen to this place.  I'll be back!

Dark woods, sailboats and nautical theme lends to an old-boys' club vibe where service is adequate and friendly. Spotty food quality makes this place range anywhere from 2stars to 4stars. I'll opt with the average of 3 stars overall.  Drinks are consistently mixed and bar service has always been great and would rate 4 stars from me any day of the week.
When Clyde's gets it right, the results are impressive. The first "pickle jar" I sampled was amazing; it featured carrots, onion, asparagus, green tomatoes, shaved beets and parsnips. I Yelped out loud, praising the virtues of this crisp, sweet,  vinegary punch in the mouth in tips and photos!  Unfortunately, nothing I've been served since has compared to the first jar. Ive inquired through the kitchen about pickle jar quality and portion but have been informed that "this is seasonal".  since it is still on the menu, i can only assume that the chef is comfortable with its increasingly declining quality. This is one dish, but I find it is a regrettable metaphor for most things Clyde's--with the notable exception of the Carolina BBQ Sammies. Now I will make sure I taste things a couple of times before gushingly recommending them to all my friends to make sure they are consistent.
Green tomato gazpacho left much to be desired as does the calamari; however the hamburger is perfectly executed every time I order. Raw bar is nice and other happy hour options (non-cerebral bar food) like wings and crab artichoke dip hit the spot.  If Clyde's could produce the same great quality of food systematically and consistently as it has shown itself capable of producing randomly, I would eat here more often outside of Happy Hour!

We were seated within two minutes of our reservation time on a busy Saturday night. As always, Clyde's delivers. I had a delicious meal of seared scallops on fried green tomatoes topped with succotash and all of it was perfect. Nice portion at a reasonable price ($19.) The waiter was helpful but not obtrusive and allowed us to linger for a while. Nothing flashy here but it's a great place for fresh food at a good price in a pretty setting.

This place always seems crowded.  Which is not a big deal but if you want to sit...good luck.  I did not eat here and maybe I would (just not at the bar).  Seemed like a bit younger crowd but maybe cause I'm old.

Went here for lunch and had a great experience.
RTC is awesome for people watching and Clyde's patio is very helpful for that :)
I had the mahi mahi tacos and my friend the rockfish burger. Both was tasty, good portion size and reasonably priced. Our server was attentive and quick. Nothing negative to say here. Will definitely come back for dinner and drinks.

This review applies to a visit for Sunday Brunch, and I will say that after three visits to the RTC Clyde's for brunch, that I actually really enjoy the experience and I have a consistent dish that I order.

Crumbly coffee cake is served prior to the entrees, which is delicious. Service, in my opinion, is better than dinner service at Clyde's, but make sure they refill your coffee, because at $3.00 at price of admission, you're going to want your free refills!

Brunch menu is nice and mimosas are reasonable at about $4.00. A good mix of indulgent and more health-conscious items. Fiance ordered the pancakes and said they were "almost as good as Mom's," which is a compliment in the highest.

I like to order the "P90Y" (nice play on trademark) breakfast, as it's quite filling and includes delicious turkey sausages, scrambled egg whites, whole-grain toast, a fresh fruit cup, and yogurt/granola for only $12.95. My only gripe (as a yogurt fiend) is that an establishment such as Clyde's should use better-quality (i.e. Greek-style) yogurt, as the aspartame-sweet vanilla junk in the breakfast isn't very good.

Just had dinner here and was less than impressed with my experience.  Our server, while friendly, was inattentive to our table.  He never introduced himself, did not give us a bread basket like the other tables, wasn't even around to answer our questions, and only noticed us when it was time to pay up. Disappointed overall, even the food seemed overpriced for what it was. I don't think my fiancee and I would come back here.

My family frequents Clyde's in Ashburn.  When meeting a friend from out of town, we selected this restaurant in Reston Town Center since we knew everyone could find something they liked on the menu.

My son ordered a kid staple, mac & cheese.  He ate about half, then declared he didn't like it.  This is odd, since he LOVES m&c.  We oedered kids chicken fingers & he ate almost all, so I guess he really didn't like the first dish.

My friend had a burger & salad that he seemed to enjoy.  My husband ordered the buffalo burger and was surprised that it didn't have buffalo (wing) sauce with it.  Rather it was a burger of buffalo meat.  It was not cooked as well done as he would have preferred, but he asked for (& received) buffalo sauce & seemed to enjoy it.  He also got a nutella shake which he (& my son) liked.

I definitely had the winning meal - Cuban style steak frites.  Grilled chilli marinated hangar steak, cooked rare as requested, with Chimichurri fries.  The steak was very flavorful and had chimichurri paste (similar to pesto) on top.  The fries were regular fries coated with the sauce.  I expected to not care for them since the sauce made them soggy, but I devoured them.  The salad that came on the side was supposed to have Ceasar dressing, but didn't taste like much.

The bread - rolls that were tasteless - were a disappointment since the Ashburn location has terrific bread.  On the other end of the meal, the creme brulee was quite tasty.

We'd return if we find ourselves in RTC.

probably one of the worst Clyde's experiences i have ever had. We sat in the patio and the service was extremely slow...no wine menu, no drinks menu until we had to ask for it and overall, the setup for happy hour was really awful as well - the tysons one at least has tables you can sit at and a nice bar, but this one is just seating along the wall..really bad for big groups so we just decided to stay outside. The steak my friend ordered was really chewy. The waiter told my friend they could make a specific drink and then came back told him there was no 151 to make it....and then when i asked about an outlet to charge my phone...he tried to tell me there were no outlets..but then later there was one...and then plugged it in and i went to check..and it didn't work. I refuse to come back here to this clydes, drive over to the tysons one!!! :)

Went here for lunch on a weekday. Service was prompt and very attentive. Food was either good or okay. Dining room was classy and very comfortable.

Complimentary cornbread was tasteless. Didn't taste the corn part of it at all, but it had a nice texture.

Crab and artichoke dip was baked. It tasted a bit heavy, but I would have liked to see more of the crab and artichoke in it than the rest of the dip.

Wild mushroom ravioli was yummy. The mushrooms on top were flavorful and had a nice texture. The swiss chard added a pleasant and surprising texture to the overall dish. But... the dish's description was a bit misleading because I had the expectation that the ravioli had a mushroom filling. The mushroom ravioli, although it had mushrooms on top, had a potato based filling, like pierogies. I think pierogies with mushroom topping would more accurately describe the dish. Cheese ravioli has cheese in it. Meat ravioli has meat in it, not cheese ravioli with meat on top.

For the taste and quality of the food, I expect the price to be a bit lower.

Finally, I found ground pepper in my glass of water. Not sure how it got there but I drank around it because i was thirsty. :)

    This is my favorite Clyde's.

It offers great food (as all Clyde's do), competent service, and a fantastic bar. The dining area is large and comfortable, and they offer a wonderful outdoor section during the warmer months. The outdoor seats provide great views of the pavilion and main street, which is a great treat.

Indoors, the decor is much the same as you'll find in other Clyde's: model ships, oars, sails, flags, and a few horseback riders pepper the walls and dividers, and lend the place a classy atmosphere.

The menu is solid and fresh, constantly updated as the kitchen comes across fresh fish and locally-sourced produce. The crab cakes are some of the best you'll find, and the parmesan flounder is awesome as well.

What makes this place really sing, however, is the bar. It's a sizable hardtop with plenty of stools for you and the rest of your party. The bar is fully stocked and the bartenders are fast, personable, and capable. They offer one of the area's best happy hours, and after 8PM or so, it starts to fill up. The crowd is fairly young, ranging for the most part between 21-30 (not that older patrons will feel uncomfortable- they won't), and you'll almost certainly find someone to talk to. I can't say why, but Clyde's just radiates a friendly vibe- it makes it feel instantly welcoming.

Stop by for a meal or a drink- either way you'll become a fan.

Every other Clyde's is way better. The service here used to be great but fell off so hard. 2 visits ago it took 45 minutes and me asking the host where our waiter was to even be greeted and get our drinks. This time around our server, Brian, was still slow but not as bad. However the BBQ brisket dish we got was horrible. The cornbread tasted like nothing and the cole slaw tasted like it was spoiled. We mentioned this to our server and he said he will let the chef know. No offer to replace. No mention to the manager. No nothing. Not even a "I'm sorry you did not like it." I highly doubt he even told the chef. The only time he was quick was when it was time to take the check. Needless to say that was the last straw with me and eating at this place. Considering the service I experienced I doubt they even check this or will ever do anything about it.

The dishes and service range from excellent to average, inconsistent is the best description. Expect over-sauced cole slaw, watery coffee, but count on great hamburgers, excellent salads, good crab cakes and fabulous homemade soups. It's too bad they mess with beef brisket and flash-fried trout by pouring sauces on top. If they put the toppings on the side, the diner could decide how much to add. The food here is most always served hot, but service lacks consistency. Come for classic American food and you will probably be satisfied. Iif you don't see much imagination in the dishes, just focus on the beautiful decor.

Easy free parking in the peripheral garages.

Amazes me that no matter how many times we come the food is just blah. How do they keep this place full? The only reason we came back is bc we won a gift certificate. Why would anyone come here and not go to Jackson's a few feet away? Guess some people just don't care about how their food tastes. Service decent and nice atmosphere but don't come for the food!

Judging by all of these reviews, no replies from management, and some repeated themes, I wonder if the reviews matter to management. It's kind of sad, but at least YOU will all be warned. Ask that you NOT be seated in Brian's section--even if you have to wait. Or just go elsewhere.

The service was so bad that the manager offered me a gift certificate greater than the cost of my meal--and we weren't asking for anything like that. But service was bad. Even one of the other servers apologized! It was crazy and confusing. He wasn't mean. He was just oblivious and/or purposely ignoring us. It was crazy. There are details, but we re-hashed them with the manager. The key: Don't sit in Brian's section. Perhaps he'll stop getting customers and stop waiting tables. It's not his gift. I'm sure the universe has a better purpose for him.

Clydes has been a frequent place for me. After marriage and some children, going there is like a rarity. The last two times that I have been here, I have to say, its been mediocre at best.

The crab cakes looked like the perfectly round frozen ones that you heat up and serve. It tasted as it looked, unpleasant. The grilled rock fish special, too salty, half of it was way salty and the other half was just bland. The filet with shrimp, overcooked. This is a poor representation of an American Restaurant. On to the service, as pleasant as our server was, she forgot that the kids meal should come with drinks, as well as desert. They also kept one shorting us on everything, one less drink, one les desert. as if we ordered one less meal. Weird.

I've come to Clydes whether it be Gallery Place, Reston or Tysons many times.  I like the food and the table service has always been great.  Bar service....well.....it's kind of meh.

Was here yesterday and the bar was being tended by only 1 guy so I know he was slammed because there really weren't any open seats.  So it naturally took a while to get drinks and order.  Not his fault, he was busy.  He also got our order wrong, but like I said...he was really busy and the only bartender there.  I'm surprised that on a beautiful Sunday, they wouldn't prepare to have a possible full bar.

We ordered the Crab Stack which in my opinion needs improvement.  I didn't look back at the menu for the description but as I was eating it realized that something was wrong with it.  The rice wasn't fully cooked (at first, I thought it was farro because it was kind of "crunchy".  Also, it described a hoisin chipotle glaze being on it.  It's sriracha and spicy as heck!!!  I want to like this dish but it just resembled in flavor something that's kind of just put together last minute.  I don't think the flavors meshed well at all.

We also ordered the Far East Oysters which were delicious!  The kimchee was a very nice touch and this time it actually did have a hoisin sauce which I don't think was chipotle even though the menu said it was.  It really helped calm down our paletes after that Crab Stack.

I really do like Clydes normally...I think this was just an off day.

3 stars definitely fits Clyde's. Coming for dinner was ok, I wouldn't make reservations here or anything. Their cheese plate was C- because of the low quality and variety of their choices. Service is average- our wine glass had massive dish water stains on it. I really enjoyed their dessert tho- it was their... fruit mousse cup one with chocolate! delish.

The food is good, but the service is not consistent.

Ordered the Wee Salad but with just spinach, and I made sure the emphasize that. Food comes out and theres bacon and hard boiled eggs and a whole bunch of crap all over it. I let them know that no, I just want you to put spinach onto a plate, thats all I need. Five minutes later it comes back, no apologies or anything. The dressing is on the side for whatever reason and now I am being forced to attempt to mix the salad myself.

Literally the easiest order and all I got was a plate of disappointment.

I met old friends at Clyde's this past weekend. I had the daily quiche which I think was a ham and broccoli. It came with greens and was absolutely delicious. I love quiche and Clyde's did not disappoint. Very different recipe from what I am used to, but delish no less.
The hubs chose the Touchdown Breakfast Sandwich, which he loved. I tried his breakfast potatoes which were spectacular with the tiny grilled onions.
Nice beer selection and great service.
If only there was a location closer!

I used to love going to Clyde's in the Town Center, eating outside was something we did on a regular basis.  However it's become a colossal disappointment in recent years.  Service is slooooowwww, they do tend to be friendly, but slow.  You cannot eat there for a quick meal, especially in a group.  I have only been here a couple times in the past couple of years, so we tried to go last weekend.  Was told that the wait was 25 minutes (unlike all the other restaurants in the Town Center) so we decided to wait, after 40 minutes we left and had a burger at Five Guys, they called to tell us our table was ready after an hour.   Just be honest.

I've had some really good food at Clydes in the past, the calamari is always solid, loved the Chicken sammich #1.  However I also had a steak that was just old brown meat, disgusting and my wifes BLT was gross, we didn't eat any of it and left.  Once in addition to being slow the quality was below par, 1/2 sized meals.  Ugh.  Company management gave us a gift card to try again, almost left that time.

That said the Cyde's at Willow Creek is much better, but still somewhat slow.  We still go there occasionally.

We went here in search of brunch on Labor Day, which, disappointingly, none of the restaurants in RTC seemed to offer!  My boyfriend in here stumbled into Clyde's on the verge of being famished and were instantly perked up by the friendliness of our hostess and waiter.  The service here is ah-maze :)  Our waiter told us of all the specials, tried to sell us on the 1/2 priced bottles of wine, made sure our waters were always filled to the brim and came back to check on us after every entree came out.  Couldnt ask for more :)

We indulged in the crab and artichoke dip - it was not greasy as others and the portion was a great size for two people two share.  My boyfriend got the New Orleans Shrimp, which was tasty ... and I got some shrimp and lobster pasta, which was OK.  I have nothing against the food here, but nothing really wowed me.  [Disclaimer: totally a personal preference!]

The 3 stars is because although Clyde's is a staple and a great establishment, I wasn't particularly awed about anything there.  I will probably be back somewhere down the road, but more than likely, on someone else's suggestion.

Clydes wants to present itself as a fine dining experience, and an exceptional place to take business clients.  Sadly, this is not what you get.  It's loud, the food choices are limited, and worse, not very good.

I'll start by addressing the noise.  As I said, it's loud.  VERY LOUD.  My friend and I could hardly hear each other, and there is very little to separate each table from each other, which only makes it worse.  I don't see how anyone could discuss any type of business here, let alone present it as upscale dining.  It was as loud as a food court at a mall.

The menu isn't all that impressive.  They offer a very limited selection of choices, none of which were all that appealing on paper.  I finally went with the crab cake, which while it consisted of mostly crab meat wasn't all that tasty due to the excessive use of salt in the dish.  On the side of that plate was half of a dried out, roasted potato that was cut into four wedges.  Underneath all that was a somewhat spicy mix of corn and peppers.  All and all, the dish never came together as it should have.

Portions are also very small, which is fine considering about halfway through what I was eating I lost complete interest in it.  Had the food been something I really wanted to eat, I may have been upset at the lack of quantity.

Price wise, it's expensive.  Too expensive for what you get.  I'm sure this is great if you're trying to impress someone at your table with your wallet's capabilities, but if you're looking for cost vs. quality, you're not coming away from here feeling like you got your money's worth.

I think this place banks most of their money on the ability for their customers to bring clients to lunch, but again, I don't know how you could conduct business in such a loud environment.

The atmosphere is very nice and casual. Has airplanes and sails. Pretty adventurous. For a table of 14 with appetizer entree and desert the bill came out to be a little over $500 including an $80 tip.
I personally did quite enjoy my shrimp pasta, forgot what it was call. It had andouille sausage in it and about nine huge shrimps. I couldn't even finish it. It original comes with those twirling pasta but I requested to have it replace with fettuccine.
The crab cake was good but a tad bit salty for my taste.
The clam chowder was nice and hardy. Has a bacon flavor in it, if you like bacon. I whatever's with it.
    Chicken wings were good.
Crab and spinach dip is very good.
Their ribs are dry so I wouldn't recommend eating it here.
Steak is good cook at medium. Meat was soft.
Their cobb salad was good. Loaded with lots of crisp shrimp, though not enough dressing. Should ask for dressing on side.

I had a fantastic brunch here. It was a Saturday morning and they were celebrating Father's Day weekend, so I'm not sure if what I had is on the usual menu, but I got the sausage and gravy biscuits and the blueberry turnovers, and both were awesome. We sat outside on a sunny day and it was a really nice setting. Service was friendly and attentive.

One star off because my husband's home fries were severely underseasoned, but everything else was so good that we'll definitely be back.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt (I would give it a 3.5 stars).  My last meal was for lunch, and the Cuban Steak Frites was perfect.  Cooked actually medium rare, not over-cooked for safety, it was seasoned with Pesto and other spices subtly but flavorful.  The fries were perfectly crispy.  Service was great this time around.

Previous times  the food was at least average or better, depending on the time and the dish.  Service is very pleasant but occasionally slow.

I was out of a class late and was hungry for some real food above the diner grade out there.  Someone suggested Clyde's for solid breakfast food... so I went at 11PM on the way home.

The atmosphere was young and vibrant, caught the last of the NBA playoff game AND ordered petit filet & eggs with potatoes.  The meat was perfectly cooked, the eggs the way I wanted and really appreciate the bartender's service too.

I will go again for their famous chili I hear is a must!

I really liked this place.  We sat outdoors, which was nice and quaint...which also overlooked the area where there are summer concerts and winter ice skating rinks.  If you visit here...its always best to get something Al Fresco - unless its freezing outside!

The menu has so many different selections there, and anyone who has a sensitive diet can def dine here.

The appetizers are amazing....we tried the calamari - which was interesting because it has a sweet and sour glaze on it....and most of us in the party got salads - the black & blue salad as well as the wedge & the mediterranean one's are amazing!!!

    If you're a burger lover...make sure to get one here...they are AAAHHHH-MAZING!!

Great variety in the menu. Been there several times for both lunch and dinner. Everything is very competently prepared. You won't be blown away but, certainly, will not be disappointed, either.

My wife and I were there this past weekend. She had the Ancho Chicken and I tried the cowboy steak they've been featuring this month. Again, not the greatest meal ever but we were very pleased.

In all honesty, the appetizers stole the show!  The wild mushroom bruschetta offered perfectly caramelized mushroom with a savory herb cream spread.  The sauteed chicken livers would convince anyone to dive into a plate of organ meat!  The livers were perfectly cooked - providing a creamy texture with great mouthfeel. The pickled eggs served alonside were a perfect foil.

Menu aside, the best advice to share is make reservations!  Walk-in wait will run 45-60 minutes at peak times.

The Reston Clyde's has continuously disappointed, when compared with other options in the RTC, as well as when compared with other restaurants in the Clyde's group.  Last visit in particular, a Friday evening, featured a bland half-chicken and mussels that had a disturbing-looking ranch dressing concoction.  Additionally, they were out of my first choice beer.

The Reston Clyde's is sort of an anomaly - other Clyde'ses in the area are consistently at the 3.5-4 star level, serving decent food at good prices, particularly the special of the month.  Reston, though, can't seem to get its act together.

During the week this is a great bar, on the weekends its douche bag central, including the bartenders.

Case in point, this evening, we had been at the bar for awhile, we were drinking so its not like we were just taking space up and my husband went to the bathroom and the bartender said "i cant hold his seat all night".  HE WAS IN THE BATHROOM.

We will never be back to clydes on the weekend.  this was awful.  Who does that?  I will be calling the manager in the morning to relay this message to them.

Besides the rude bartender, there were douche bags all over, people looked like they were going to prom, popped collars, and girls in the bathroom worried about their emo-licks. This bar totally sucks on the weekend.  Ask for Daniel during the week, hes awesome.

Moreover, plan on spending over $100.  We dropped $60 and were spoken to this way. Go somewhere else, anywhere else, probably not in the reston town center unless you are under 24 after 9:00pm.

I love Clyde's because it's just the right balance between formal and casual, high-end and cheap. And the thing that sets Clyde's apart - usually - is that each Clyde's location offers something different in its décor or menu. This particular location of Clyde's, however, was surprisingly...unremarkable.

Our crab cake sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich, filet mignon, and parmesan trout were all fine, but I didn't hear a single "Mmmm!" last night at dinner.

It was also a little strange that there was a chorus of teenage girls singing Christmas carols in the middle of the restaurant. It would've been fine if they sang really well or if it were really entertaining, but these girls were far from being filled with the holiday spirit!

Oh, one more thing - one big plus is the early bird special: 20% off your entire check if you place your order between 4:30-6:00pm M-F!!

It was a great dinner because of the company, but the food, service and décor were all just okay.
