Stopped for breakfast.  If your looking for a chain...go into the cities...otherwise its a nice smalltown cafe.  No Bob and Gordo wouldn't be stopping here and if your trying to follow in their footsteps...you shouldn't either.  Its a small town cafe...what 'cha expect?

Three stars. Yep. That's due to the small town charm. Historic building. Friendly service. And the photos of Miss Creamer 1954 on the wall with a flurry of hunky male workers behind her and her sassy sash and bedazzled crown.

Uff da. Otherwise. Really. And it pains me. Like picking on the skinny, pimply kid with braces and scoliosis in middle school. Just not fair. I would give it 1.5 stars to 2 maybe. The food is sad. Just sad. Robert Irvine and Gordon Ramsay would certainly cuss up a storm at this canned and frozen food atrocity.

We ordered the chicken and wild rice soup. I mean, after all, I've recently moved to my home state after 25 years, I have a lot of wild rice eating to catch up on. The soup arrived in less then 60 seconds. Fine. That's cool. Well, and so was the soup. Pretty flavorless and a horrible texture.

    Canned.

My mom and sister split the ham salad sandwich while I ordered an open face roast beef sandwich on good ole white bread. I noticed my sister picking away at her ham salad sandwich, which I could clearly see was more bread than ham salad. I asked for a taste after she pused it away after throwing back a few chips. UGH! It was really, really bad. Pretty much tasted like those ham salads you get in those tiny cans by the tuna at the grocery store. Only doused in salt and seemingly thrown in a blender.

I wish my roast beef sandwich could have saved the day. First it wasn't open faced yet served sandwich style. No big. I removed the top pieces of bread and dove in. I won't even go on. It drums up painful memories. Needless to say not much was eaten. And when will places like this realize IT IS CHEAPER TO MAKE YOUR OWN MASHED POTATOES (capitalized to emphasize my Robert Irvine and Gordon Ramsay sceaming), than serve the fake stuff. And of course MUCH TASTIER.

    Canned.

Our server was a delight. The atmosphere was uber Minnesota nice. Kind of like John Deere meets Holly Hobby. I will go back because it's near my folks condo and I always want to try local. But only for coffee and to try a milk shake. I may even sport my own sash and crown.

    Canned.
