First time visit and I saw potential. Â That's not the word I would want used on my bar/restaurant if I were in business these days. Â Way too much competition out there among the pub-grub and beer categories.
Crowns Sports Pub has a centrally located bar inside as its focal point in one big room. It's complimented by a handful of pool tables, a smokers' patio out back, some video games, digi-jukebox and an alcove for LIVE music. Â Nothing truly sets it apart. Â And as of "today" the pizza-making partner next door which had a thru-way to the bar closed its business. Â Ordering food means adding about +10 minutes to the wait as food is "DELIVERY". Â I enjoyed a ham & cheese sub sandwich (B rating) and some jalepeno poppers (A- rating) but I had to wait longer than I wouldn've liked as a weekday lunch.
I learned the bar's main proprietor, Danielle or Dani to friends, is moving. Â Dani has been at Crown for 4+ years and there was a little sniping about her leaving. Â There are plenty of talented gals and guys in CBUS who would fit right in. Â Pick the right person and business at CSP might pick-up at lunchtime. Â I heard crickets chirping in the place when I was visiting for lunch.
Perhaps Crown will continue to make it. Â Perhaps not. Â One thing is for sure to this writer, the craft beer business is drawing a crowd these days. Â Standard fare pubs and bars that aren't booking live music must be having a tough go. Â CSP is okay.... stop by but don't think you'll be wow'ed.
