Cue & Brews is really a pool hall that happens to have a full bar. The bar is well stocked and they have several beers on tap. The beer selection is nothing special and all from big name brewers.  They do not serve food but there is a Wingstop in the same strip mall and you can bring food in without a problem. Seating is limited to the bar and stage area. They have a bank of 5 TV on the stage and other scattered about to watch sports on. Music is pay only via a jukebox. You'll be listening to everything from Freddy Fender to rap music. It all depends on who is feeding the machine. It's really an odd place.

I will say this I am a fan.  I came here on a Thursday night with some of the boys to grab some beers and play pool.  We got in there and it's a pretty big place with lots of room so you won't be bumping into people all the time at cramped tiny bars. The atmosphere is a little confused. It's definitly a dude bar, hardly any women inside and the music choices are scattered. One minute they play country the next minute ASAP Rocky, it was hard to get into the scene.  The bar is pretty well stocked and the drinks areat a decent price so a plus. However the price to play pool is their downfall. It is way too expensive for my liking. There are cheaper rates at the local bowling alley or another pool bar in Berkeley which has more young people and college students and since that is my age group I feel more comfortable but this place is more low key for chill nights.  It is in the middle of a strip mall in the wal mart parking lot so tons of parking. It was pretty cool just a little confusing trying to figure out it's identity and pool rates are too expensive but it's okay for what is around the area.

First thing is first, this bar is in the Wal-Mart parking lot.  I guess that should have been a tip off.  The bar itself is pretty shabby - everything about the place just screams "low-budget-never-going-to-renovate."  With that said, the pool tables are some of the worst quality I've ever experienced, and they've got about 10 of them. The staff is uncoordinated, the bartender seems overwhelmed with just 5-6 people at the bar, and the bouncers are all midgets that are looking to start a fight, not prevent one.  I went back after my first negative experience only to now have to double-down on how horribad this place is.  While chatting it up with the bartender (seems to be the head bartender) and a few locals, she said one of the single dumbest things I've ever heard, "I think gay people are gay because they lack self-esteem."

I don't know where else I'd go if I was in Martinez, but this would be my last pick.  Scratch that, I'd just stay home.

Fun spot, great friendly bartender and manager. Had a blast talking to some regulars and others who just stopped by at the bar.

This place has a great selection of beer and they have pool.  If you you are looking for a place to place pool and have a good beer in Martinez away from downtown, this is your place.  They have TVs and a juke box.  Most recently, there is a New Wing Stop next door and what's better that beer and wings.  On weekends it tends to get a little busier, but still is a great place to just drink and chill.

I really like this place. It's very conveniently located and close to my house. When my buddies are in town and we want to go shoot some pool and watch some of the games this is our usual target. Staff is friendly and there is plenty of parking. Live music is also a plus.

It's a chill little spot to watch the game, get a drink, or play some pool. There are some pretty girls in there from time to time. Parking is ample, and you can chill outside either in the front or outback.

Trying to find some kind of fun in the West County, I yelped up Cue & Brew in Martinez.  It worked out because it was central to the friends I was meeting up with.  At first, you roll up in the Wal-Mart/Home Depot parking lot and there's a small crowd in front.  It was just smokers out taking a break.  Walking in, there's a large bar area and a side pool room.  A nice and bright layout although the decor was definitely dated and local flavor.  First up, the drinks...I ordered a round of beers and then moved up to John Daly.  Drink price...5 bucks!  Wow!  How cool is that?  A deal if I ever had one.  The pool was fun after a few but if it gets busy, there can be a wait.  There's also a shuffleboard I'll try another time.  TVs showing sports and a couple of friendly bartenders keep it lively.  It was mostly dudes the night I went but it was peaceful and fun.  Not bad for Martinez!  Parking is easy in the lot.

Cue and brew sucks.  If you question your bill, they do not like it.  Then they tell you you can't come back if they credit the amount you think you were over charged.  As a loyal customer of the bar, I find that so disrespecteful and wrong.  The supposed owner, Kelly was rude.  When I asked for a refund of what they over charged me she did not like that.  She told me my brother was rude and so was I.  When my brother was standing right in front of her, she could not say that he was rude.  She was just a bitch.  $17.50 if what she was bitching about.  You are gonna lose a customer who spends more then $17.50 per round.  I will tell every one of my friends not to go there because of the treatment.  If you run a tab there, check your bill.  Their way of thinking is if it isn't yours then it is someone elses so they seem to put it on who evers tab you are with even though you paid on a different tab.  They totally overcharge thinking you won't check your bill.  It is my peragotive to ask for an itemized  bill since they only give you a bill with the the total. All we questioned was a total of 17.50. and they asked us not to come back if they credited us the amoumt.  We spend way more then 17.50 every time we go in there, but if they don't want us to come back because of that then so be it.  We will give our money to someone else.  We reccommend to our friends not to go in there either.  We will so bad mouth  this bar, CUE & BREW!  I would rather go to a local bar that is a dump then to get treated like that.  If Kelly was the owner, she was just trash.  She has no people skills and has no place running a bar.  She is awful and I would not give that place another dime with an owner like that.  If you go in ther, pay cash.  They will rip you off and charge drinks to you that are not yours thinking you are too drunk to notice and just pay the bill.

This is probably the nicest venue I've seen the band I follow play. The stage is at the back on the first level, and in front you can busy your drinking self with pool, darts, and conversation with tons of tables.

I'm a dancing fool when it comes to great music, and there was space for me to strut  near and around the stage. On the lower level, there is enough tables for a lot of groups to shoot pool and drink those yummy inexpensive drinks.

The bar stands out of the way, which proves helpful when it gets busy.
I hear they have karaoke, so I might check it out sometime too!

That is, when my friend's band isn't rockin their stage.
If you find me there, ask me to play darts so I can beat your sorry butt. I might just grab you a beer.

This is a great place that is hidden near Wal-Mart..

They have a lot of pool tables and a shuffleboard!!

A bunch of us come here just to come here on a random night. The drinks here are strong and worth it after a long day of work.

This place is cool, a bunch of things to do (mostly play pool).  Darts, jukebox, bar, sitting area.  I was there Thursday night for the Lingerie night, which had its plus and minuses.  Plus, the girls were cute and friendly, minus they kept trying to sell you these tickets which you could only purchase with cash.  Drinks were all good, decent beer selection.  Bathrooms were clean.   All and all a good place to go to catch a game, play some pool and have a couple of drinks in Martinez.

Really nice tables. Good rails, Simonis cloth, good pockets. The price can be ridiculous ($15 an hour on the weekends). Drink service can be slow, but this is more pool hall than bar, so who cares? Maybe I just like this place 'cause it's two blocks from my house? lol

This has been a favorite bar of mine for years.  Very diverse crowd from older to younger, nice male-female mix, and really decent pool tables and house sticks available for serious pool players.  Wednesday night is best as the crowd is lively and the pool and dart league players come in so there are some great players in the house.  Plus, they have lingerie girls from 9PM on with raffles and all so they bring in all kinds of folks.  I have to say that I've met some of the nicest people at this bar over the years and I've certainly improved my pool playing there.  You can play on the "challenge tables" in front or get a private table down below.  The jukebox is an internet style unit so the music choices are wide and you will hear everything from classic rock to country to R&B and more urban tunes on any given night.  If you can't make it on a Wednesday night, Friday night is probably the next best option and Saturday nights bring in more couples.  I don't write many Yelp reviews but this place deserves to be recognized as one of the best pool halls and sports bars in the area (and I've played at them all)...

My favorite Local bar.  A place to go and have a good time play pool or shuffle board and talk.  The music isn't so loud you can't carry on a conversation which is important to me and I love the staff always helpful.

I'm at odds. Do I give a 2 star rating or a 3 star rating? Every time I come here, I ask myself why the hell is it so crowded? I suppose it's so because it's the only bar in the area.  With all that said, they have shuffleboard and a lot of pool tables. I like the spacing they're far apart enough so you can be comfortable without competing for space to shoot pool. There's not much diversity, and I guarantee you I was the only Asian in the place as well, but unlike the WC bars, I wasn't overlooked with service or anything like that.  In fact, I got prompt service. However, it took my friend Daniel who was hispanic 15 minutes to close out his tab.

Man does it get crowded. Also, they don't accept passport or military ids. They did, however, take my EXPIRED drivers license. OOOOOK.

There's a mix of a bunch of ages and there's no dress code. From girls wearing Vegas-appropriate wear to people wearing jeans and a T, I think anything and everything is acceptable.  Watch out for creepy old men that ask you what your sign is and tries to hold your hand.

BTW 5 dollar cover. That changed my 3 star to 2 star. C'mon. This is martinez.

big problem, this place doesnt accept US Military ID cards to get in. do they hate the military or are the just not smart? it is just a dive bar with some pool tables. nothing special. the crowd is definitely not a good one either. avoid going here, youll thank yourself for it later.

The location is a little random, but who doesn't love to get drunk and play some pool with a beautiful view of Wal-Mart?!

This place is great, the staff is super nice and attentive (they even will try to talk you into singing karaoke-I had only had 1 drink so it wasn't the night for me to make a fool of myself)

The tables are clean, well kept and its very spacious. Parking is good too, since most other businesses in that shopping center are closed by the time you would go down there you have a great selection of parking spaces.

    2 very enthusiastic thumbs up!

So....I had fun here in the beginning but realized that this place sucks after a few times of coming here.  Mainly because of the type of people who hang out here.  After my last horrible experience, I will never come back here again.

I have decided that someday I will go to karaoke every night for one week. But not this week. Next week doesn't look good either.

As part of my research for my week-o-karaoke, I wanted to find a Sunday night karaoke spot. Luckily, I had my fabulous fiance, Jac C, and great friend, Jackie V, to help with the mission. I started with yelp and although a few places had reviews touting Sunday night karaoke, no Sunday night karaoke was to be found. I googled karaoke and found a list of most Bay Area karaoke locations, including days and times. Cue & Brew was on that list. After a quick call, karaoke for Sunday night was confirmed.

I had only been to Cue & Brew one other time. I'm not sporty so I never have a strong urge to play pool but went with friends a couple years ago so they could play. They have a ton of pool tables and seems like a fun place for those that like that sort of thing.

Sunday night karaoke was fun here. The place is really big and it took some maneuvering to get from where we were seated to the "stage". The KJ was very nice and welcoming and the sound is good. There were also a lot of really great singers but it wasn't crowded and we were able to sing a few songs before it got late. The only thing I didn't care for is that new singers are put in the middle of the rotation. I prefer a consistent rotation with the new people being added at the end. (I'm a planner.)

Country is definitely the genre of choice here. When I return for my week-o-karaoke I think I'll be singing some Tammy Wynette.

This is a rather nice place to go and play. The tables are maintained well and the house sticks are some of the best I have encountered in the East Bay. The atmosphere is nice and very conducive to playing a quality game. The drinks are strong enough for my taste and the restrooms were clean.

While I probably would not visit for any reason beyond playing pool, It seems to draw many who have no plans to do so.

I've been here a few times just for some after work drinks and others for some late night pool.  I like this place because it's not far from the house, easy parking (you are in a shopping center near Walmart), and the venue has a bit of everything.  There is a decent selection of beers and drinks at a reasonable price.  There are regular pool tables, billiard tables, darts, a lounge area, and a decent jukebox.  They place has never been really crowded.  It's a low key place for some pool and drinks with friends.  There also is the comedic relief at the end of the night since there is inevitably someone who is thrashed and falls off a stool or something. LOL

This place has gone to sh*t.

We arrive at 1:05 am thinking, "Cool, we have time for one round." We get our ID's checked at the door and the bouncer wouldn't let my friend in with a passport....seriously?  Now, realizing that a passport isn't a valid ABC I.D., she opted to drive back to SF - but myself and my 2 other girlfriends hung around for one more pint.  Just ironic that she's been using that passport at every nightclub and bar from Walnut Creek to San Francisco - but the ever-so-lavish Cue and Brew wouldn't accept it.

Regardless, 1:05am, ID's checked...walk up and order a pint. About 5 minutes later - they call last call. What??  Whatever - we only wanted one beer anyway.  But then 5 minutes after that, an a$$hole of a bouncer walked around and ordered everyone to slam their drinks.

    WTF.

We didn't order a beer just so we could slam it within 5 minutes...you shouldn't have let us in the bar if you were planning on closing down inside 10 minutes.

The bouncer was a total d*ck, barking orders at everyone like we were inmates and mealtime was up - hey a$$clown...did you forget we were customers?

So with near-full pints in hand, about 1/4 of the way finished - we went back to the bartender and got a refund.  The bartender was happy to oblige - so there's the one star.

Ahh, Wal*Bar. I love this place. I can walk here from my house and I can always count on at least person buying me a drink. Granted the only people that go to this place are either REALLLLY old and perpetually iniebriated, or they went to my highschool and cant afford a cab anywhere and are going to be damned to hell if one of em has to be sober driver.

The best thing about this place? You can wear your pajamas and they still let you in. In fact, if you went through the effort of putting on slacks, you're over dressed. Jeans are overdressed.

They even have fantasy NASCAR. Seriously. It does not get more white trash than that.

With 3 pool tables and darts and other random activities, this place is awesome. I am always down for a drink at the Cue.

Although if you're looking for a wild and crazy night, I'd take your business elsewhere. This is the kind of place you end up on on an idle tuesday when you need a drink just so you can make it until the weekend.

I am not a fan of sports bar atmosphere. I went here for a friends birthday and I was having a bad dry spell where I wasn't drinking because my body just needed time to heal. So I was able to enjoy the place sober. Its an average bar with the very original sports bar themes paraphernalia all over. The bar tender was great and she looked as if she could kick everyones ass in the place. It was surprisingly crowded for what I thought a bar in a strip mall would be.

    Its all right.

This bar delivers on its name and little more.

The Bar differs very little from its title.  The beer and tables could be cheaper.  I don't dig the sport/ premade cookie cutter liberal progressive brewer paraphernalia decor bar, but It seems the masses do. This bar delivers on its name and little more.

My Fiance and my friend and his GF came to Cue & Brew to shoot some pool Saturday Night.  Cue & Brew is a nice sports bar and Pool Hall.  You would never guess this place is here as it shares a parking lot with Walmart and Home Depot and the freeway is very close by.  They have about 8 - 10 pool tables here along with a pretty nice size bar.  The place is clean and doesn't have the "pool hall" vibe to it.  Mostly people come here to either watch the game or shoot some pool.

They have a good selection of beer on tap and cost was about $10 to rent the table for about an hour for the 4 of us.  The tables were "ok" (certainly seen better and definitely seen worst) but they were good enough for a game of 8 ball.  They had plenty of cue's here but that work, but you're serious about pool, bring your own stick.

The have a pretty good selection of music on the jukebox and there are probably about 8 - 10 tvs around this place so you can watch the game no matter what where you're at in the place.

Overall a nice chill place to have a couple of beers and shoot some pool.  Would definitely come back to this place again to watch a game, shoot some pool, and drink beer.  Solid 4 star rating.

Love this place for a low key night out.  No real dress code that I know of, lots of pool tables, and decent bar tenders.  No fabulous ones since my cousin stopped working there though.  Week nights the pool tables are pretty cheap.  And they karaoke on Sunday nights.  Good stuff.

I know what you are thinking, a bar in the Home depot parking lot?  well, its actually a great bar.  Nice pool tables, nice people, good shuffelboard table, hot bartender chic.  its one of my new favorite places.  Kind of older crowd, but thats ok.  less people yelling "wooo" the better.
