Deep Ellum is an eff-ing gem and everyone knows it. Is it loud? Yes. Crowded? Mmhmm. A bit toasty is the summer time? Yep.
Does stuffing my face with the best muffaletta I've had outside of Louisiana and slurping down delicious, cold craft beers make it all worth it? Hell yeah.
If you live in Allston/Brighton and have never been here, you may want to re-evaluate your life.
From negronis to beer to their gorgonzola fries. This place provides a suttle and classy feel to a casual bar. This was the first bar i went to in Boston and I left quite satisfied each time. (Except when i brought over a glass filled with a 'hurricane' and was not permitted to enter.. Somewhat understandable, yet nevertheless a hindrance towards my goals for the night)
Review Source:I've always loved this bar. They have an outdoor patio for those bearable summer nights, a small hand-selected menu that makes me feel like they've got their shit down (and like i'm not at the friggin cheesecake factory), fancy cocktails using liquors I've never heard of, and a massive beer list. Â I'm obsessed with the gorgonzola truffle fries. If I knew how to replicate the gorgonzola truffle fries, I would save myself so much money. I heard they recently switched up the menu a bit - I really loved the Vegan Burger but I don't think that made the latest cut.
The only thing I can't stand, that they can't really help, is that it gets really crowded very fast, even on weekdays sometimes. Also, I love going there for brunch (served everyday from 11 to 4) Â because you can't go wrong with a $5 plate of eggs and homefries but the bloody mary feels like a rip off. $9 for a BM in this short high ball glass stacked high with ice and garnished with a pathetic pickled green bean. Is it because it's flecked with fresh ground peppercorn? Come on, give mama a bigger cup for that price.
The first time I went to Deep Ellum, I was really impressed with my brunch (pork shoulder with cornbread). The waitstaff seems inexperienced, both times it took a really long time for my food to come out. The first time, it was really busy. In my most recent experience, we were only one of 4 tables and had to wait about 45 min for our food. I got a skillet thing, which was good, but EXTREMELY greasy, my fiance got a side of "Home made Corned Beef Hash," which consisted of greasy potatoes with a single sliver of Corned Beef. They definitly weren't fresh Maybe it just depends on who's cooking? Our sangria was delicious though! I really want to like this place, so I'll go back.
Review Source:Cute space with a cool vibe. The staff is nice and attentive. I like to go here to drink and if I want food I will go next door to its sister restaurant, Lonestar.
So yeah, the food.....most random menu... I can eat brunch there but dinner is a no go. Nutmeg seems to have found its way into random dishes and completely ruin them for me. Nutmeg buffalo wings? Naaaahhh.
Excellent beer menu, but incredibly loud. A friend who is a brewer was visiting town so we decided to go check it out, along with all of the other famous beer spots in the city. No doubt about it - a great beer list. But the music was so loud we had to yell at each other to have a conversation. Why is this appealing? Given the quality of the beer menu, I could easily see myself going back, having a beer in their back yard, and giving this place a high rating.
Review Source:The best bar in Allston. Actually, in Boston.
They only have 25 beers on tap, but they'll have stuff you won't find down the street on the larger menus.
All the bartenders are well-trained in the cocktail arts. The owners are big time drink nerds and come up with their own concoctions.
The space is nice and intimate, the TVs are usually playing AMC or TCM. The patio is enjoyable on a warm night.
The chicken wings are my favorite thing on the menu. Because they are unique. The buffalo sauce has some kind of cinnamon spice. It sounds weird; but it's awesome.
Lone Star next door is just as well-executed. And they have Mezcal. A lot of it.
I guess my main complaint is that the place is too damn popular! :) Getting harder to get a seat on the weekends. Or on warm nights.
Sick of the Sunset crowd but don't want to sacrifice the ability to snag a good beer? Deep Ellum has you covered.
My first note that I wrote about this place a year ago was, "The only place in Boston I've found so far that I 100% support their music choices." I still stand by that, AND their outdoor patio area, AND awesome door dudes and waitstaff.
As a vegan, either side of this swell joint offer GREAT vegan noms (grilled avocado tacos OR vegan ice cream?!), but their menu is lacking. Should you care? NOPE. They make a mean old fashioned and some other crazy cocktails as well.
Deep Ellum is at the top of my list for Allston nightlife any night. Not usually too crowded, no morons in sight (usually), and the patio usually stays pretty chill.
Allston has always had its unique charm - a bit trashy, perhaps, but reliable. However, in the last few years, something interesting has happened. Places have sprung up here and there that have managed to maintain Allston's unique spirit, while bringing unquestionable class to the table. Deep Ellum - and its sister restaurant Lone Star right next door - are right at the forefront of this.
I've been to Deep Ellum for dinner many times. The staff are superb - friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. The beer & drinks menu is what you would expect from a great bar these days: good selection of local  & nonlocal brews, creative & well executed cocktails.
The food is phenomenal. The absolute star on the menu are the chicken wings, which for me are the standard which all other chicken wings fail to live up to. Crispy, perfectly cooked, and the maple-habanero bbq sauce is about the best thing to happen to chicken since someone first put bbq sauce on a wing.
If you're thinking about going for brunch, go before 11, as the place quickly gets packed. If you're hungry, the country fried steak & eggs is phenomenal.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the shape of things to come for Allston. This is a classily executed dive. This is how it's done.
Deep Ellum is a great place to get some unique drinks and awesome food! The bar is not terrible large (fitting maybe 30-45 people) so don't be surprised if you have to wait outside for a little (the bouncer with the beard is SO nice, talk to him!).
Drinks: The Oxacan Rose is SO good. Very smokey and sweet. Beer. So much beer. They have an awesome selection of local brews from Mass, such as Cisco Brewery! The bloodies they have for brunch are tasty, savory and have the right amount of spice.
The food is really terrific. The gorgonzola truffle fries are to die for and their breakfast chimis are delicious.
Bottomline, I'm coming back again and again.
Love this place. Â Food is good, drinks are good, people are nice.
I have gone for brunch and dinner. Â I highly recommend the breakfast fries, duck confit hash, and the breakfast BLT if you want to go lighter. Â The schnitzel with spaetzel is great too. Â I love that they have a deviled egg of the day!
PS, they have a deck out back that can be a little less crowded. Â
Awesome place to grab drinks with friends and have a bite...
Came here with a lady friend for Sunday lunch, sitting outside on the patio (full inside) on a coolish day - but not too cool to make it unpleasant.
Inside was cool, good music. We liked our server, he was cool, trendy (but not a douche) and knowledgeable.
Food:
-Weisse Schneider wheat beer: suggested by the server, was really a great wheat beer.
-1845 pisco punch: very citrus-y and a combo of sweet and sour. Interesting drink
-Clementine beer: again, suggested by server (I like fruity wheat beers) - like a better Blue Moon
-Best wurst appetizer: sausage with pickled veggies and interesting mustard. Not a lot of food, but really really tasty, well spiced, especially with the mustard.
-Biscuits and gravy w eggs: biscuits were good and the gravy was thick and super tasty. Basically pure bat with chunks of meat fat. But SOOO good. Eggs were fine, nothing special
-BBQ breakfast: pulled pork on top of cornbread with fried egg over easy on top. This was great, all of it mixed together really well, each component itself was good and together was just a great mix.
I've also been here on a Saturday night late, where I enjoyed a number of tasty beverages and cool atmosphere with friends. I quite enjoy this place
Good beer list. Â Service was fine. Â
On the other hand, my dining companion and I both received *food poisoning* via one shared dish. Â Gorgonzola fries. It was a really rough weekend for us both.
Not sure whether it was a one-off, because I haven't been back. Â Fortunately, there are now many bars in the area with good beer lists!
Has the makings of a cool place, but missed the mark. I went in here with my boyfriend on a late Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar. There was a good enough buzz in there without being crazy. The bartender was not welcoming, although he made decent drinks. We ordered a couple of appetizers that were OK, but as we were sitting at the bar, it dawned on me that Deep Ellum could use a deep cleaning. I probably wouldn't have noticed at night, but in the day, you could see all the shelves and everything on them seemed dirty. Some liquids in jars and bottles above the bar were dirty as well. Â Another bartender who came over to us later was nice, but it was kind of too late and I was already turned off. Decided to take my dollars to another place.
Review Source:And then it was decided. Deep Ellum would be the site of something tremendously important, lovely, or alternatively, disastrous. My brother and I agreed that we were going to introduce one another to our current significant others, in a culminating, tense, and awkward ordeal known as the "double date."
Loud and crowded on a Friday night, and I was glad. I had hoped for a festive vibe to help set the tone.
Many folks were enjoying the bar, but the four of us shared a table. We all ordered cocktails, save my companion, who ordered a Racer 5 IPA. All were happy with their drinks.
We shared a fried calamari appetizer, which was quite good, and went quickly.
My brother and I both ordered the pork schnitzel, which caught my eye immediately. I had read a few reviews and my limited experience with schnitzel in general had been positive. The schnitzel here was enormous, and a much thicker cut than any I'd had before. It was essentially a breaded pork chop. I drizzled it in lemon and went to town.
Oh, right. You're probably wondering how the date went. Well, several cocktails in, we were all laughing while my brother and I embarrassed one another with otherwise forgotten stories from our childhood. Both partners were liked. Both siblings were liked. A success story that would make the 'rents beam with pride!
Some people want to cure cancer or climb Mount Everest. Â But not me. Â I want to visit every beer bar on Draft Magazine's list of America's 100 Best Beer Bars. Â Aim high, kids. Â Aim high.
That being said, I am not really sure how Deep Ellum snagged a spot on that list, primarily because it maintains an extensive cocktail program and is not exclusively a "beer bar." Â I like a good cocktail, for sure, and the ones on their list sounded pretty solid, but I like my beer bars to be focused. Â At a cocktail bar, you expect to wait a while, as they muddle and peel and whatever - this should not happen at a beer bar, where things should be simple and straightforward. Â At a real beer bar, they'll roll your eyes if you order a margarita or sangria or a Hernandos Hideaway. Â And I like that. Â (Note: they have a good, well-priced whiskey list. Â If it was just a beer/whiskey bar, I'd be pretty down).
So - about that beer, they have at least 25 drafts, ranging in price from $6 to $9. Â Not a bad selection, mostly American (heavy on New England) and European, with lots of IPAs, but it's not thrilling. Â We didn't eat, but the dude next to me ordered BBQ Breakfast (pork shoulder, cornbread, mustard aioli, with an eqq on top, $9) and it looked freaking awesome. Â The rest of the menu seems pretty on point for price. Â So there's that.
It's not a large space and it gets pretty packed - we were there a recent Sunday afternoon with nary a seat in sight. Â If you're not at the bar, or sitting at the line of tables, there's not really any place for you. Â They have a patio out back, which is pretty cool. Â But it's only patio weather in Boston like four times a year, so it doesn't do a heck of a lot of good.
And the crowd! Â Oy! Â For some reason, the majority of beer swiggers went for the Notch IPA, a light, very low ABV beer served in a very large glass (a liter, I believe). Â It's not that it's a bad beer, but what's the point, when there's several better options? Â In my professional opinion, they were just ordering those beers so they could instagram them next to their face ('Look, Ma! Â My beer's as big as my head!!!).
In short, it's a good bar with a pretty solid beer list and (what looks to be) decent food. Â But it's not a beer bar.
We did brunch at Deep Ellum which happens to be my first time there and were pretty happy with the meal. The patio is pretty cool and we love dining al fresco so that worked out well. Our server was friendly and attentive. The cocktail menu has some good options. I went with the Summer in Sao Paulo was delicious, refreshing and not too sweet. The beer list is also interesting.
For our meals we had the:
Poutine- fries loaded with duck gravy, cheese curd, and sprinkled with rosemary-- pretty solid
Country Fried Steak with sausage gravy that tasted like it was going to kill you so it was well prepared. This dish needed something green to balance out the carb load and richness.
BBQ breakfast which consisted of sauce smothered pulled pork layered on top of a slice of cornbread, topped with a fried egg and mustard aioli which was pretty good but had room for improvement. The bbq sauce was a little too sweet and overpowered the meat, the cornbread was cold and the dish could have really used some veggie...maybe some braised collards or kale.
Overall a pretty solid brunch experience and we maybe back for dinner.
I've been to Deep Ellum once. For all of the rave reviews I've heard word-of-mouth, it really wasn't anything special. The food was pretty good, but not amazing by any means. It is pretty cramped in the restaurant, which wasn't a problem because many places in the area are tight. The server was the biggest downfall of our visit. He seemed annoyed by us and rather stressed in general. It wasn't very pleasant for our group. I probably won't be visiting again.
Review Source:My yelp adventure buddy Frannie Z. and I Â have heard a lot about this place and decided to venture over there when she was in the area. Â It was a nice day, so I found my friend on the back deck and it was not long when our waitress, Lily, was out and asking us for our order. Â Since I was not in the mood for beer or straight whiskey but did want something not too sweet but not too strong tasting, she steered me to the 1945 Pisco Punch made with Pisco, Pineapple Juice, Lemon and Bitters and it was lovely. Â
When Frannie and I meet, we try to get a sampling of the menu and share our items. We started with the poutine and buffalo wings. The poutine was great ... the fries on their own were very good without being dried out but good enough to hold the cheese curd and duck gravy. Â The rosemary was a nice flavor touch.
The buffalo wings were "crispy" and well cooked and the sauce was not too spicy so you could taste the flavors without the hot but it was not my favorite. It was good, just not my cup of tea.
We decided to split the wurst plate entree. Â It is two homemade house sausages grilled to perfection. The day we went, the side was bangers and mash. Â I enjoyed the sausage and it was grilled they way I like it but the bangers and mash was not a favorite. Â
I can not wait to go back to try other items and maybe something from the beer selection which looked really interesting.
Love this place. Â This is probably my favorite in Allston. Â Beer selection is rotating and delicious. Â The menu is pub/bar fare elevated to the next level. Â
I'd say that primetime for crimetime is between 11-1 on Sunday morning (hopefully before the place gets too crowded).  The brunch menu is exactly what you need after a successful saturday night.  Last time I had duck confit hash (came with homefries and two fried eggs). Â
If the weather is nice, try to grab a place on the back deck.
The place can get crowded and packed with hipsters but what did you expect?!?! We're talking about Allston, here.
Always looking forward to the next time I come here for brunch and beers.
As far as I'm concerned, the best thing that has happened to Allston since I moved here fifteen years ago. I probably eat lunch here once a week (if you drive park in the neighborhood behind the drug store with the massive empty lot--bastards tow.) The place is wide open during lunchtime on weekdays. Forget the weekends if you don't want the crowd. The burger is fantastic as are their salads. The beet salad right now is terrific, and I don't care too much for root vegetables. They make Poutine that you will learn to crave if  duck gravy, potatoes, cheese, and rosemary sound appealing. It's a totally insane thing to eat, but just try it with a recommended beer and see if you don't love it. Next time you can have the beet salad! Right now,  my favorite cocktail is Summer in San Paolo, which you can drink on a sunny day out on the patio.
The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and never asks "how we doing over here?"
This place has good cocktails. There, I said it. It's not just about the beer as I'd always assumed because that's all I'd really heard about. They have awesome cocktails.
They also have friendly staff who are fun to chat with when it's slower. Granted, I do not come when it's busy cause I like the slower pace. I'm not one for crowds anymore, and they can get pretty crowded. It's also awkward when you get stuck outside in line and all your friends made it inside.
Also: they always have TCM on which is AMAZING. Love classic films, especially with my fabulous cocktails. Who needs a sports bar when you have a classic film bar?
Been here twice so far and both times were awesome.
First time we started off with the warm pretzel with beer cheese which was really weird, but in a good way. For lunch I got the maple habanero wings which were really tasty, my girlfriend got the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Grilled cheese was on marble bread which I questioned a little bit, but I had a bite and it tasted good nonetheless. Tomato soup was pretty thick which is a good thing for me, that also tasted very good.
Now the second time is what made me realize I want this as a regular spot. Again, we started off with the pretzel with beer cheese...always a great choice. I decided on getting the breakfast burrito, best one I've ever had. This thing is FAT! I'm a fan of spicy and you definitely have to be for this because there's a lot of hot sauce on it, but this thing is stuffed with all the essentials; eggs, sausage, home fries, red peppers, tomatoes, and like I said.. A lot of hot sauce.
No doubt that I will be making many trips back here, and I'll probably live here one I'm 21 and can try there giant selection of beer.
We visited Deep Ellum for brunch, and I was pretty disappointed. Â Nothing was bad, but nothing was "good". Â My Bloody Mary was nice and spicy... but half the size of a normal Bloody Mary. Â The fish po'boy was pretty "meh" as well. Â Maybe I have high po'boy standards from living in the South, but this fish and bread seemed dry.
In short, I paid $22 for a mini Bloody Mary and some coleslaw with fries.
We thought Deep Ellum would knock our socks off, but we probably won't be back.
I need to try this place more. It's got the right atmosphere and beer list for me. As I'm sure others have remarked it is small and tends to get very crowded and tight, but not unpleasantly so (in my opinion).
The few times I've gone I've always had a pleasant time. Just haven't gone enough to have a had a great time that will put the review over the top. I need to try the outdoor patio in summer.
This would be my second choice if I want to spend just time for myself when eating lunch... just me, my beer, my food and my computer.
Daytime is pretty quiet bar, but the atmosphere is good. No one will bother your space while you are in your thoughts. Night time it is totally the opposite is a pretty crowded bar, last time I went it was so crowded that i had to leave the place. Because the bar is small, the place it's too loud.
I definitely recommend this place for lunch to a person who wants to have some time for herself or himself. And if you lucky you might be able to enjoy a quiet dinner if the bar is not busy on weekday.
Food is great! I haven't tried the entire menu, but I like the hot dog with chili, the pretzels, the Deviled eggs, wurst appetizer, charcuterie sampler and calamari. Not to crazy about onion soup which is one of my favorites soups. But sometimes I order it. Being there and I've never tried the meatloaf sandwich, is that going to be my choice tomorrow?
Also, the special desserts are a surprise for me... sometimes I have it sometimes I don't. I love their fruit tarta!!!
After a ski trip, i stopped into Deep Ellum with a buddy who is a regular. We quickly snatched a couple bar spots and gazed into the long line of beer taps. It was a difficult decision, since they have about 20-25 taps, plus a lot of beers in bottles.
Unlike most beer bars, you wont find ANY microbrews here. No bud or coors, not even Sam Adams or Harpoon. There are lots of west coast IPAs to chose from.
The food at Deep Ellum is pretty much standard American fare, but with some hint of Mexican, as there is a second bar/restaurant next door which serves up awesome tacos (Lone Star). They also serve there own house made sausages and charcuterie (who doesn't these days??). Â The sausage was tasty as was the tomato soup and grilled cheese I ordered. I love swiss cheese, but it may not have been the ideal cheese for grilled cheese.
The prices are very reasonable as well. The bar was recently named one of the top 5 bars in Boston to take a date. Since my friend is a regular, any time I visit him, I'm sure I'll end up at Deep Ellum.
Weird location for a pretty hip spot with awesome food and a cocktail and beer list to boot. Recommend heading over for brunch when it's less crowded but definitely worth the wait. Recommend the burger - so tasty.
Extensive beer selection on tap will keep any beer-lover happy too.
Worth the trek over to Allston.
I love the drinks at this small hole in the wall bar. It gets crowded quick, particularly on popular evenings and weekends. There is a long bar of about 15, and 10 tables of 4. There's a nice back deck for warm summery evenings.
They have my favorite drink, the blood and sand , made particularly well--always worth points in my book. I'm also a fan of the old fashioned, hornet's nest, 1845 Pisco punch (woot pisco!). Their beer selection is also fantastic.
While I prefer to think of this place as a great watering hole, it also serves great food for the hungry. I'm a fan of the poutine, burger, and mac and cheese. For brunch, the duck confit hash is amazing.
Whether you roll into this place for a night out or a ladies brunch, it does not disappoint.
Visited Deep Ellum in Allston on Thursday night after spending the evening elsewhere. Â When we arrived around 11:30 there was plenty of seating at both the bar and at tables in the restaurant. Â We took a table for two and ordered a round of drinks, my companion ordered a house specialty and I asked for an Old Fashioned. Â I thought it tasted "off" when I got it, and after asking I was told they make their Old Fashioned with rye and not bourbon. Â Not "bad" per se, just off. Â The next two I ordered Blanton's and the taste normalized.
Overall, we spent probably two hours at Deep Ellum, and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Â It wasn't as busy on a Thursday night as I thought it would be, which is nice. Â The back wall is exposed brick and the full bar on the opposite wall is a nice contrast. Â I was warned by many people that this bar would be overrun with hipsters, but either this wasn't the case or Thursday was the day they all chose to shower, because I didn't think there were any present that evening. Â The staff seemed very friendly, but the bartenders seemed to take quite a long time to prepare a cocktail, especially given that there were two bartenders for about 20 patrons in total. Â I'd go back, but will have to remember to ask for bourbon, and not rye!
I love this place!! They have such an awesome selection of beer and cocktails, and their gorgonzola fries are AMAZING. It's a little bit out of the way for me, but when I get a craving for those fries I make the trek. I usually end up splitting with one or two other people, and it's surprisingly filling.
The prices here are great too! The beers range about $6-10, and they're all really delicious. The sides are all pretty cheap (truffle fries are $6) and the food is awesome.
My only complaint about this place is the size. It gets incredibly stuffy and its difficult to figure out where to stand without being in the way. The bouncer/host suggested that we go to the bar next door in the meantime and that he'd come and get us when our table was ready, thats how small it is. Thankfully we ended up getting seated quicker than we anticipated, so it all worked out.
Would honestly be a 3.5, the extra .5 just for the Root Beer Braised Pork Belly. I've been here once for brunch and once for drinks and apps. My advice, skip the entrees and go straight for appetizers. Portions are big, shareable, and consistently great.
For brunch I had a mixed experience. Service was great and my drink, the Tommy Noble was awesome. I got to try:
Truffle Gorgonzola Fries: this is why I cam here, and while they were great, I didn't quite get enough truffle. 3.5/5
Maple Habanero Chicken Wings: YES. just yes. 5/5
Harvest Salad: interesting combo of winter vegetables topped with an egg, but pretty unimpressive in overall taste.
BBQ Breakfast: sweet deliciousness, best plate on the table. 4/5
Buttermilk Biscuits and Sausage Gravy: pretty bland for something with such heavy ingredients. 2/5
Breakfast Club Sandwich: perfectly decent brunch sandwich. 3/5
The next time I came for drinks and apps we tried
Poutine: to die for; all about that duck gravy 4.5/5
Root Beer Braised Pork Belly: IF NOTHING ELSE GET THIS. Little piece of heaven in my mouth. 5/5
Deviled Eggs: perfectly decent, not as good as my mom's though. 3/5
Service is good but it gets crowded and loud on weekend nights, so be ready for a wait. Great drinks, hipster atmosphere. If you're stuck waiting for a table hit up their sister restaurant, Lone Star Taco for a drink, they make a good margarita.
I was very impressed with Deep Ellum as much as I was with their sister restaurant, Lone Star Taco, next door. We came for a late brunch on a Sunday and sat at the bar. We literally came at the crossover point so they gave us the option of choosing whether we wanted the dinner menu instead. Great beer and cocktail selection too. Here is what we had (more than enough for two):
Truffle Gorgonzola Fries - These were the best truffle fries I have had to date. The creamy blue cheese it came topped with that had a truffle kick was the what set them apart. I have had better individual fries before. A fork is definitely required
Breakfast BLT - As described, but comes topped with an egg and some home fries on the side
Chimichanga - Good Chimichanga, if you have never had one before it is basically a toasted burrito. The made in house hot sauce had a good kick but was not overpowering.
I've been going here since it opened, and it's long overdue for a review. Â The long and short of it is that I love this place. Â The food, throughout its time here, has been stellar. Â I do miss some of the menu items that have disappeared, but like any good roster, sometimes the old must make way for the new.
I recently had the opportunity to try brunch here, and it was another hit out of the park. Â I had the breakfast burrito, and while a bit of steam would help the whole thing seal a bit better, I can't complain about what was inside. Â Very delicious and filling, perfect for a hangover breakfast. Â My only critique is that the plate looks a little empty with just the burrito and orange slice... maybe a small salad or a bit more fruit? Â Anyway... really tasty. Â My friends had the duck confit hash and the Fall River french toast, which were both outstanding. Â
I've also been here countless times for dinner and late night eating. Â I haven't tried the dinner fare in a bit, but I can say that the charcuterie plates are consistently great and the pork belly is definitely worth a get. Â I'd say the poutine is one of the best in the city too, with Deep Ellum's already great fries smothered in duck gravy, cheese curds, and a sprinkling of fresh rosemary. Â The rosemary really really pulls it together, and I find myself craving it right now.
The beer menu is really well thought out, offering a lot of items on draft and in bottles that you might not find at other local "beer bars." Â The prices are reasonable, and each beer is served in an appropriate vessel. Â The cocktails are also outstanding and feature some house-made ingredients as well. Â In short, they do the drinks well.
Now that they have a late-night menu, I really think it's stepped itself up in terms of being a go-to spot in this area. Â Having a back deck doesn't hurt either. Â They own the taco joint next door too, which by all accounts is excellent, but I never seem to make it over there because the poutine... it calls to me...
After living in the area for almost 7 years this is probably my favorite spot to go to in Boston.
The Beer - constantly rotating extremely on point selection. Staff is always more than willing to give tastings and help you find just the right beer for your mood.
The Food - Their buffalo wing sauce is my all time favorite and the chicken is always cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the moules frites and the truffle Gorgonzola fries.
Tip - it's a pretty small place so there can be a wait for a table sometimes, but it's never too bad. When the weather is nice there is an open patio in the back. Also be sure to check out their sister bar next door - Lone Star Taco & Tequila bar, equally epic!
F it. Â if this is what hipsters are all about, then I'm in! Â who gives a shit if you have to listen to some new remix of some Montreal band by some no-name DJ covering a B-side of Grant Lee Buffalo mixed with some old Stooges tunes... this place rocks because the food rocks!
hook me up with the charcuterie plate, son!
