Great atmosphere
Ambiance - 5/5 - Romantic, modern, sleek, wooden, open, central bar, multi levels
Parking - 5/5 - Plenty of meter parking close by.
Service - 5/5 - One bartender ran the place during lunch. He was so friendly, patient, and efficient. Very professional.
Food - 4/5 - Biscuits were really hard. Duck flatbread so was yum. Tender & moist pieces of lean duck with sliced apples and a drizzle of bbq sauce. I hate when flatbreads are overwhelmed with bbq. My lobster roll was delicious. Big chunks of lobster with mayo, celery, and corn. It came in two mini rolls which were perfectly toasted but soft in the inside. Brussel sprouts with prosciutto were ok, a little dry. Bf had the crab cake sandwich. Says it's usually really good but this time was extra extra toasted, like a crouton, was hard to eat. Lobster mac and cheese was excellent though.
Drinks - 4/5 - A dirty martini & an old fashion ran about $20 before tip. Delicious, strong, and beautifully made but a little pricy.
Prices - 4/5 - A little on the pricy side but the experience is worth it. Lunch prices are definitely more reasonable (about $15-$20).
Came here on our recent trip to Chicago with a friend. Â The three of us always end up here when in town. Â Dinner is always excellent, and we all love the little biscuits at the beginning. Â Our waiter Josh took great care of us and made it a relaxing evening after having worked the housewares show.
Review Source:We tried the raw oysters and they were TINY! Good but not worth it. The trout and crab  cakes were good. The crab cakes were well filled with crab meat that they were worth it. We came here during restaurant week so it was a little less pricey. The desserts were good. We had the creme brulee and apple croustade were delectable. I enjoyed this place. I'll definitely come back!
Review Source:4 stars for the restaurant but giving it 5 because it has sentimental value to me.
Get the oysters. Cheap and Fresh and Yummy. Enough said there.
If you are going for a dinner date, see if the host will seat you in one of the curved tables, it makes for a more romantic date. I've only gotten seated once out of 3 times but it was so much nicer than the normal table and sitting across from your date.
In terms of dishes I recommend I'm going to split this up in two.
For the happy hour specials, the mussels shrimp and duck are solid. Great taste and the apps are half off and cheap!
For an actual dinner I suggest the lobster mac n cheese, halibut (whenever they have it since they rotate their daily fish), rainbow trout or the cioppino. All are great! I put special emphasis on the halibut here. This was the first halibut  I ever got at a restaurant and to this day I continue to benchmark other restaurants against this place. The fish just flakes off. Not overcooked. Super juicy and tender. Served with asparagus as a nice side. just purely delicious.
The biscuits here are also really buttery and yummy and warm! It's a great way to start your meal. Also sorry for not going in food order but the crab cakes as appetizers are very good! It's a generous portion and tastes pretty damn awesome compared to most other places
My girlfriend and I were visiting Chicago for 3 nights and decided to go all out on a higher priced seafood dinner one of the nights. Â We chose Devon Seafood Grill as the prices seemed reasonable relative to other restaurants in the city, the reviews were good, and the location was close enough to walk.
First impressions were great! Â The decor was nice, our waiter, Chance, was welcoming and amicable, and we even had a small side room to ourselves. Â We went on a Sunday night and so bottles of wine under $100 were half-priced. Â We chose a Chile blend that normally went for $35 a bottle. Â This ended up being a great wine and a great deal. Â We also cashed in on the free Calamari appetizer with Yelp Check-in. Â This was a nice dish to share and we definitely had no complaints.
The problems arose with the entrees. Â My girlfriend ordered the Cioppino which was a tasty and hearty serving of clams, mussels, shrimp, and fish. Â I ordered the 6oz center cut filet cooked to medium. Â I usually prefer medium rare, however, I have come to notice that the majority of restaurants end up severely undercooking steaks regardless of what temperature you indicate; therefore, I had opted for medium. Â Unfortunately, this steak too was very rare and lacked any seasoning. Â Chance politely brought the steak back to cook a little a longer, but again it returned extrememly undercooked. Â I ate what I could and gave up on the rest, deciding to turn my focus to the lobster mac and cheese which had good flavor but was slightly watery. Â We also opted for the vanilla bean creme brulee with rasberries and whipped cream; however, we only received creme brulee... no rasberries or whipped cream.
When the bill came, a quick glance and I noticed that we had been overcharged on the bottle of wine and the complimentary calimari was no longer complimentary. Â Once brought to our waiter's attention it was changed accordingly, but would not have been otherwise.
Overall, so close... yet so far. Â On a student's salary it was hard to justify the $100 dropped on dinner for two when half of the dishes arrived not as advertised. Â This place has a lot of potential but needs to get its act together.
My boyfriend took me here for our valentine's day dinner which we celebrated on Friday this year. Â On first looks this place seemed great. Â We got in a little early for our reservation and checked in with the hostess who told us we would have to wait a little while. Â She then proceeded to seat every other party including walk-ins without giving us a second glance. Â As our reservation time passed by my boyfriend then asked the hostess if we might be seated soon. Â She gave him a snotty remark and her manager proceeded to seat us. Â Her manager apologized for our wait and gave us a couple free appetizers (mind you we could have already gotten a free appetizer just for checking-in on Yelp). Â The appetizers were mediocre, the calamari was actually not very good at all and I've had better tuna tare tare in the city. Â
Our waitress was very friendly and even a little funny but forgot what we gave her as our appetizer order. Â Of course, she didn't write anything down. Â She also happened to screw up our entree orders and served me the wrong dish. Â The supporting waiter staff which brought out dishes for the waiters and waitresses didn't know which table ordered what and they were all over the place. Â Even interrupting our waitress as she was telling us specials at the beginning of our meal. Â
We didn't stay for dessert as we figured it wouldn't be worth the wait and the possibility of them screwing up that order as well. Â The only saving grace for this place is the food, it's good and fresh but I'm sure I can find another place just as good for the same price and with better service.
My BF and I have had Devon on our list of places to go for a while. Â He seems to always end up there with other people, effectively delaying this as our date night option. Â Well, the long wait was finally over. Â Though we had 9:15 reservations, the place was busy. Â There was a great energy in the bar area, which is the main floor of the restaurant. Â But, the same can be said for the vibe in the main dining room on the lower level. Â There were families, a bachelorette party, and plenty of lovey dovey couples in the mix. Â
We ordered the:
GOAT CHEESE BRUSCHETTA: tomato-basil cruda, focaccia crisps, kalamata olive. Â Hands down, best bruschetta I have ever had in my life. There was an arugula salad that was served on the side and the pairing was absolute and total perfection.
I also ordered the Maine Lobster Bisque. Â It had lots of fresh chunks of lobster and by far the best lobster bisque I have had in the city.
Since I have been on a major seafood roll for the last few weeks, I decided to finish my streak with a bang and order the 1/2lb lobster tail as my entree. Â It also came with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side. Â The lobster was simply awesome. Â It had the traditional melted butter on the side and really, nothing more was needed. Â The lobster was fresh, the texture just right and it left me wondering how are such landlocked restaurants in Chicago able to procure such amazing seafood? Â Anyway, everything on my plate was spot on.
My BF ordered the 18OZ. Prime Angus Beef Bone in Ribeye. Â He said it was good, but didn't seem to rave about it. Â I wish I had given it a try but I was too busy devouring my lobster to even notice his steak.
For dessert, I ordered the creme brulee. Â It was also very good. Â There was just enough crisp, caramelized sugar on top and the center was creamy, smooth and delicious.
So, I LOVED Devon. Â I wish there was enough time and money in my world to frequent this place on a regular basis. Â However, I feel like this is one restaurant where time and money won't be a factor. Â I surely will be back.
Went with a friend for just a night out. We ordered fresh oysters to start. The waiter put the order in wrong so I got one extra, happy mistake;) it was really good. Super fresh. Then had complimentary fried calamari thanks to yelp check-in. I had the ahi tuna steak. Soooooo good!!!! All the seafood is super fresh and delicious :D
Review Source:I came here with my wife for restaurant week. Right off the bat, great fresh seafood. My wife had the lobster bisque and the char both had great flavor. I had the jumbo crab cakes. My god they were so fresh and enough crustiness that made every bite epic.
the crab cakes were big enough to really enjoy them. I would definitely come back.
Went for dinner last night and was seated by a dour young lady who was manning the front desk...someone should coach her to smile. Â We were seated at a nice table and watched for about 10 minutes as all the tables around us were waited on by the army of servers they have here. Â We were both looking around trying to catch someone's eye to ask for our server. Â I finally had to yell out to waiter to get his attention. Â He went to find our server and returned to tell us that our waiter hadn't yet arrived to work!!! Â HUH?!?!?
I will admit to throwing a bit of a fit as this was just about as unacceptable as it gets in my world. Â After a sincere apology by the manager, we were waited by a very sincere young man who took good care of us.
Food was just okay, but I had a hard time getting the first taste on incredibly bad service out of my mouth. Â With a gaffe like that, would like be hard to talk me into going back.
I have walked by Devon a million times and never even considered looking it up or going in, but when my friend suggested it for Restaurant Week I was excited. Â The food was really delicious. Â I had a very tender steak and caesar salad. Â Their creme brulee is also to die for! Â Our waitress was attentive and had great drink recommendations.
There are a few things service-wise that are preventing me from giving Devon 5 stars: 1) After my salad, they had me keep my fork rather than just bringing me a new one, which is kind of lame for this nice of a restaurant, 2) When you walk in upstairs, there's nobody really in a hurry to greet you and you feel kind of lost since most of the seating is downstairs, and 3) I like my steak well done, but hate it butterflied. Â I know it's possible to get a well done steak without butterflying it, but Devon just wasn't able to do that.
For the midwest, I'd say this is a great seafood place. Â Stuff is flown in daily and the menu was creative. Â You have to try the calamari as we couldn't stop eating it. Â They actually have, I believe they were deep fried jalapenos in with them (which I don't eat) but it really gave the calamari some flavor. Â A great place to try when you're wanting fresh fish or seafood.
Review Source:Nice upscale seafood place for lunch downtown. Â A little pricey but menu is full of goodies.
We stopped in here for a quick lunch on Saturday. Â Wow we were blown away by the food. Â Grilled trout and fish tacos. Â Perhaps the best fish taco ever! Â
The front staff needs some training. Â Otherwise I'm happy. Â A bit pricey; $41 with no alcohol for two for lunch including the tip.
My husband and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. We made reservation, so it was very easy to get a table while it was early. The hostess was very nice and brought us to our table. Our waiter was nice as well, no complaints there.
When we first sat down, one of the guys brought over fresh bread and butter to our table to start. The bread tastes amazing! It has this sweet taste to it, and it's very warm like it just came out of the oven. I love the bread!
My husband and I ordered the ahi tuna sushi roll as a starter. It tastes pretty good! I had the seared ahi tuna as my entree and he had the steak. I had a side of lobster mac and cheese and asparagus with my tuna. Tuna tastes good..I don't think I've ever ordered tuna steak before, so I can't compare it with another restaurant. It does tastes different but heard it was one of their popular dishes. Just different eating fish that's raw inside but cooked outside. My lobster mac and cheese was delish, and asparagus was good but it only came with 5 pieces. Wish there was more on the amount for the sides. My husband thought his steak was good. He had a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus as well. Both were good to him. We ended the night with sorbet and ice cream. It tastes like normal sorbet and ice cream.
Pretty good place. Would come back if only the tab wasn't so big. :) Maybe on another special occassion.
Went here for a late lunch with a friend. We were one of 3 tables in the place, we didn't mind except the service was slow. Honey butter and biscuits were fantastic and addictive. Â My friend and I shared the smoked salmon flatbread, lobster Mac n' Cheese and fish tacos. We finished everything and I'll definitely be back!
Review Source:Now a regular place for my wife and I. The fish selection is some of the best, and have yet to get something I did not enjoy. My personal favorites include the bay scallops, and the Ahi tuna.
We continue to come back and enjoy the atmosphere, food, and good service. If you want good fish, this is a great option in the city.
I came here for NYE dinner with some friends.
The ambience and decor is really chic. Especially the bar area. I had their pear martini which was quite tasty.
Before dinner the servers came around with rolls on a tray that appeared to come straight from the oven. I have a soft spot for warm bread but this bread was just mediocre. It was similar to Red Lobster's dinner roll but I would prefer RL's.
I ordered the 6 Oz Filet and Lobster tail. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly. Not chewy, good seasoning. Fantastic. The filet on the other hand was just okay. It could've had better seasoning and it was a bit dry.
The service was slow with no reasonable explanation. It wasn't overly crowded. Â
I would definitely return for their happy hour specials and consider Devon''s for a seafood dinner option among the other top seafood restaurants in Chicago.
OVERALL REACTION:
This is a fantastic, fancier-esq place to have a nice romantic evening with food that will really impress. Pricey, yes. Worth it? 100%
ATMOSPHERE:
We made reservations for NYE. I was impressed by how nice it was around the bar area upstairs and then to be walked to their main dining area downstairs, which felt like a whole other restaurant because it was so big. Wait staff are professional and have a very elegant approach to their delivery when speaking. Nothing wrong with  being spoken to the same way Geoffrey would address the Banks' in The Fresh Prince.
WHAT I ATE:
There was a Prix Fixe menu for the special occasion, but I opted to go for the Alaskan King Salmon which was not only cooked to perfection, but the taste was indescribable. The only thing I can say is that everything on their menu was either delicious or looked delicious from what my friends also had as their meals. I also had a side of brussel sprouts and roasted cauliflower, both cooked perfectly.
WILL I RETURN:
I would go back in a heartbeat.
WHAT TO SKIP:
I'd skip the lobster mac and cheese tho. It was tasty, but lacked the amount of lobster one would hope to have in a dish with lobster as the first word describing the dish.
Had dinner with my with wife at Devon on NYE to ring in 2013, sadly we were handed sparklers instead of seeing a grand fireworks display. Â Maybe that's too extreme, it was more like a backyard display of bottle rocks and Roman candles vs. a grand fireworks display. Â
Service wasn't too exciting. Â It was slow enough that we passed on dessert for fear of having to spend another thirty minutes there. Â Almost two hours for 2 courses was getting me a little twitchy for new surroundings. Â Our server wasn't terrible, but it seemed like we had a trainee thrown into the mix at the last second.
Like any fireworks show, the food had "eww's" and "ahh's" but was mostly just the run of the mill between the good stuff. Â Our cheese plate was okay, nothing special. Â The lobster bisque was an "ahh", creamy with a few good chunks of lobster that was not over done. Â My oysters were fresh and flavorful, I was hoping for a great accoutrement, but it was just cocktail sauce and lemon. Â Oh well. Â For entrees we both had a filet with lobster tail. Â The steaks were the big "eww" of the night, cooked as we ordered, but no seasoning. Â "There wasn't a grain, not a speckle of salt... Would it still be the best you've ever tasted. Â NO!" Â Just bland. Â The lobsters, however, were perfect. Â I think tails get tough more often than not. Â These tails were tender, sweet and just the right, slight amount of seasoning. Â Sides were okay. I overheard another server tell a customer the lobster Mac was Ahh-maz-ing...it's not that great. Â Maybe we just got the end of the batch, it was getting pretty late. Â We were approaching two hours, so we called it quits before we ordered dessert. Â
I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying Devon. Â We'll probably give it another shot because there was a lot of interesting items on the menu that we didn't try because we were going with the prix fixe. Â I'm chalking our experience up to things going a little screwy because it was NYE.
A visiting friend took my broke grad-student self here as a treat, and it was delicious! We didn't have a reservation but got seated right away.
I ordered the Atlantic salmon with a side of brussel Sprouts and the lobster mac n' cheese. And yes, the lobster mac n' cheese is as good as it sounds! It costs a little extra but it's worth it. And don't knock the brussel sprouts, the pancetta and mustard they were combined with made them very tasty.
My friend had the Black Grouper (which I had never even heard of) and every flavor of oyster they had that evening and said it was all good too.
I'd for sure go again, but I'd need to be treated by someone in order to afford it. So come visit friends!
I used to like Devon's happy hour. But our recent experience made me think we might have to switch our go-to happy hour spot.
We got here around 5:15pm on a Thursday, 80% of the tables were taken at the bar. Our waitress came right away, gave us the dinner menu, delivered water. Then everything went downhill from there:
- Waited 10 min for my wine flight to come (they used to give you nice pours for wine flights, apparently not anymore, this was probably the least amount of wine i've seen in a wine flight, EVER). Then we waited another 10 min for the waitress to return and take our orders.
- Waited forever for my favorite biscuits, and they never came. I had to ask for it after the food was on the table. I don't think the waitress forgot about the biscuits because she did bring them to the table right next to us. I think she just forgot about US, or she chose to ignore us. Either way, unacceptable.
- We got oysters, calamari, mussels, tuna tartar, and new england lobster roll. The only think I think was still good was the lobster roll. Everything else had deteriorated since our last visit. Oysters were not freshly shuckled; that doesn't mean they weren't fresh. They were fresh, but they probably stayed in the fridge, POST-shuckling, for at least couple of hours, along with the half lemon on the plate. That resulted in the Asian sauce being stickier than normal and I couldn't get pass the oils on the top, I couldn't squeeze out any juice from the lemon because it was stale, and all the oyster juice was not that good anymore. Calamari was not crunchy outside, but the guy put it down said "be careful, hot plate"--I'm sorry, that plate probably waited in the kitchen for 15min before being put on our table, it was lukewarm at its best, and I hate lukewarm calamari. Tuna tartar did not taste fresh either...AND in the end, our lovely waitress kinda messed up our bill. It was supposed to be $3 off the wine flight, and she forgot to do so. Yes it's only about $3, but no it's about principal. Â
The point is, Devon has gone down in quality for their happy hour, and we'd probably never return. It's sad.
After 3 hours at Shedd's aquarium, we were in the mood for seafood. Free Calamari offer with a yelp coupon. Finally, good calamari that doesn't taste like parts of a rubber toy. The seared  New Zealand King Salmon was fantastic. The Seafood Grill had the usual assortment of shrimp, scallops, salmon, etc. All were tasty.  The spinach salad and shrimp tempura were both very good. The atmosphere was trendy and the service very good although our waiter did walk away from our table when we had questions.  Still the service was above average. I will come back in the future to try some other options.
Review Source:I frequent Devon for their bar area and happy hour deals. Â I use to live in the building and now live next door so it's convenient place for me to grab a quick bite or drink. Â For that purpose alone I would give them four stars, however the few dinner experiences we had in the dining room downstairs definitely fell short!!
For the happy hour, they have an array of  app items that are very reasonable and delish.  I love the mussels and LOVE the chipotle shrimp.  Most items on this list are going to be yummy!!  They have some specialty martinis on special on one night and I love the one with rosemary in it.  They wine flights are also good and they give you nice pours.
First impression is great. Chic, nice for small parties. The waiter was sarcastically hilarious, very knowledgeable. tapas oriented. We came here for happy hour. so maybe we'll go back for entrees sometime. maybe. just maybe.
LOCATION
pretty convenient, right off of the Magnificent Mile.
AMBIENCE
high-chair seating... bar right in the middle of the place. It was a nice, casual place to grab a quick dinner or an afternoon drink.
FOOD
Mini Lobster Rolls: not impressed. The bread was too thick, the lobster was slightly overcooked.
Roasted duck Flatbread: delicious, but not enough duck. We love... duck.
Tuna Tartare: this was really really good. It came with the sesame crackers and that was a really nice touch. The oils surrounding the tuna was REALLY good.
ahi tuna sushi rolls: not a fan.
crab cakes: average.
chipotle grilled shrimp: the corn underneath it was FABULOUS. the shrimp was way too overcooked, almost stringy.
Disappointing every time. Â That's the last time I'll give this place a try. Â They only thing good there is the service. Â
I keep falling for the "recommendation" just to find out that it is always the fish that should have been thrown out. Â It is overpriced for the lame culinary experience.
First impression was GREAT!
Ambiance-
(4.5 out of 5 stars)
Busy space with bar on the first floor, yet an intimate setting with perfect lighting. Â The main dining in the basement was surprising elegant and the booth seats provided ample privacy for our birthday celebration. Â
Staff-
(5 out of 5 stars)
The waiter was phenomenal and very knowledgeable. Â Our waiter was kind enough to comp a slice of carrot cake with a little candle for my fiance which made topped off our experience on a high note. Â
Food -
(5 out of 5 stars)
The food was top notch. Â I had the Canadian Lobster tail and it was perfect. Â She had the Seafood mix and was very happy in the quality.
Wine-
(5 out of 5 stars)
Great variety and the waiter had great recommendations.
Overall-
(5 out of 5 stars)
If you want an elegant dining experience with great food and service, go to Devon Seafood Grill. Â Cheers.
I was very impressed with my first time dinner at Devon Seafood Grill tonight.
We made a reservation at 6pm and were seated right way; our waiter was nice, attentive and made great wine recommendations.
We got the sampler which was great to share; everyone loved the calamari. For mains, I tried a little bit about everything so can comment a bit:
Fresh fish is really good--my sister got red snapper and my grandpa got the swordfish; both were really good. Ask the waiter for recommendations for what is in season.
I got the scallops with capellini which was a great dish; I loved it and the scallops were so tender, better than any other store-ordered scallop dish that I've had in a long long time. The cioppo was really good; the tomato sauce had a hint of fish in it which made dipping the bread so good.
Mom got Lobster Cobb Salad which was great for a salad so full of different things and Dad got crabcakes which were great in terms of material but a bit lacking in flavor but if you like that full crab flavor with no additional spice/etc. then these are perfect.
Will definitely be returning with friends for more good seafood. Recommend for any special occasion or guest dinner you may have
I had a business dinner here last night and I was very impressed! Â The service was top notch and the food excellent.
Our water was wonderful (wish I could remember his name) and very knowledgeable about the menu. Â Things that stood out to me were the basil ice cream and the goat cheese appetizer. Â Actually the Italian fish stew I had last night was pretty awesome too. Â Love how all the dishes are prepared in a healthy fashion so that the freshness really shines through without being overpowered by sauces and and unneeded embellishments.
I would definitely come back!
After reading all of the stellar reviews here on Yelp, I decided to take my sister and brother in law here this past Thurs. after a Jazz Fest event at Millenium Park. We were really excited about the $13 lobster special for happy hour... that began again at 9pm. Only they were out of the lobster! Â FUDGE!
So we had lobster claws instead. They're quite large - $3 each. The lobster roll was actually like 2 tiny lobster salad sandwiches. They were very good.... but really didn't resemble a roll, at least not to me. My sister said the drinks were great; she had a frozen margarita.
It was a gorgeous evening, so we stayed outside. It's a classy joint, for sure.
The service was excellent, and we will be back! But this time, at the start of the first happy hour on Wed/Thur at 4:00 to get that lobster special!
Oh no! What happened since the last couple of times I've visited? My gals and I stopped by for a late dinner and we walked in and were greeted by the friendly and good looking host.
I oreded the strawberry basil mojito and was kinda disappointed...it wasn't that great. I ordered calamari which is still just devine.
Location is still beautiful with a relaxed chic atmosphere.
Pretty nice place.
Our server was super helpful, almost to the point of ridiculousness. He did a deep breakdown of darn there everything on the menu. Annoying to have to sit there through 5 minutes of telling us about his favorite grilled fish. Can't knock him for enthusiasm though. Also, it took forever for the food to come out. They gave me some free asparagus to compensate, but a few stalks of urine amplifying veggies won't make up for holding us dinner-hostage
Started with crab cakes, which were the BEST I ever had (Note: first time I've ever had crab cakes. End note). I ordered the whole main lobster, which was also the best whole lobster I've ever had(Note: first time I've ever ordered a whole lobster. End note). My date ordered the mix grill which included scallops, salmon, shrimp, crab cake and sides. It was a lot of food, and for someone who eats like a bird she smashed it so I assume it was great. The side we had included asparagus, roasted potatoes and the praised lobster mac which was underwhelming IMO.
Just for the heck of it we ordered strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was one of the worst ones I've ever ordered at a restaurant (Note; ordered these things dozens of times. End note). There was literally this dry POS biscuit sized at about 2 inches in diameter, sliced in half with literally 2 strawberries on top, 2 tablespoons of whipped cream pumped on top sitting in a few drops of sauce. And two scoops of mediocre strawberry ice cream. It was an embarrassing way to end a pretty decent meal.
Although I have been to the restaurant (which has great food), I am reviewing the bar happy hour...
So, i'm not sure what happened, but I think Chicago's Great Grandpa must have passed away and left its people with a ton of money and a lot of free time to go for happy hour in swank places. On a Tuesday. At 5pm.
The bar had a great atmosphere for so early in the week and the waiter staff were rushed off of their feet, yet still attentive and friendly. Now, I've been for oyster happy hours from Charleston NC to Seattle WA and it is hard to find much better prices than $1 per oyster and no shucking fee! They also have draft beer, in pint glasses. Why is this important? Normally when a place is like this in appearance, they either seem to only have bottles or sell their draft beer in what could quite easily be described as a thimble. Not Devon...
They also have a bunch of other appetizers for $5 or $6 and some cocktail specials to boot. Now, the only reason they lost a point is because of their busboys. They probably asked no less than 10 times to take our bruscetta plate away when we still had over half of it left.. that just started to rub a little. I think that when we finally agreed to have the dishes removed, he more than likely went into the kitchen and did a backflip out of sheer joy. If, I could give four and a half I would, because over-attentiveness is better than a lack of...
Came here with a work group of 15 people. Â We had reservations, so we got there and immediately seated.
Service was good for the most part. Didnt like that fact, the waitress brought the dessert menu, and forgot to come back. Oh well.
Otherwise, food was really good. Â Had the Seafood mix grill. Â +5, really good. Â
Two floors. Â Dark atmosphere.
I got my Sex And The City on here for happy hour the other day. Yep...totally drank pink martinis and nibbled share plates with another dude. It was cheap. I'm not ashamed.
Two drinks and four apps later and our bill was under $60. It's definitely not bad considering we had some pretty quality calamari, mussels, tuna tartar, and bruschetta. Not to mention my Samantha joke totally killed it at the bar
Happy hour is from 4-7 and 9-close Monday through Friday and 4-close on Sunday so there's plenty of opportunities to check them out on the cheap. I may even have to come back for a full meal because the food was so good. I'll probably try to bring a girl though.
This was my first time here, I was not greeted but when I walked in I saw a lady staring at me so I approached her. I asked if I could have a table for 2 and she asked if I had a reservations, I said no and she offered to sit me at the bar for happy hour. As other people walked in they were greeted right away, and no one had to approach them.
The lady was not helpful when we chose to do happy hour. She said it was open seating upstairs only but there was no seats available, and a lot of the people sitting at the bar was hogging the chairs with their purses or coats, or saving seats for other people, which I think the staff should keep an eye on. Thankfully one of the guys told us about the perfect table back in the back.
The decor is really nice, great place for a birthday dinner or after work drinks. I ordered the X Rated martini which was pretty good, only $6.50 during happy hour.
I ordered the chipotle grilled shrimp enchiladas which were ridiculously delicious, made with crepes, Corn and black bean relish, with lime sour cream (lime shredded with cilantro lightly coated in sour cream). The only thing though you could barely taste the shrimp, they should definitely add more shrimp but the flavor is amazing!
Other than not being greeted or helped out much by the hostess, or the lack of shrimp in my enchiladas, this place is awesome and I can't wait to go back and try something else.
