I want this place to be good so bad... but it's just not.
Apparently, it was supposed to be a strip club when it opened, but stupid people in Milford apparently didn't want that to be the case. Â They never got a license.
So now it's a huge open place with lousy food, overworked staff, and half the time they aren't even open.
I'd highly recommend you find somewhere else until they get another cook who knows to change fryer oil, and knows how to make rudimentary food.
I'd say my biggest complaint really is the food. Â The price of a burger is around $8 or so, so that's the norm... but 30 seconds down the road is a 99 and even THEY have better food than Doc's... pretty sad.
I go there at least one a month with three other people and we all love it. Â The food is great! Â What are the other posters ordering? Â Best mozzerella sticks I've had. Â Try the sweet chili wings and any of the sandwichs. Â The beer is cold and affordable. Â Lots of large TVs to watch the games. Â And, no, you don't need to wait for a table because it is not uncomfortably crowded.
Review Source:Do not even waste your time trying to figure out when this place is open. They don't answer their phone, have no reliable hours posted anyplace and when you get there they have a piece of paper taped to the inside of the door with what must be revolving seasonal, monthly, weekly???? Â hours. They never seem to be open. Â Frankly they should just close the place or sell it someone who might actually try to run it correctly.
Review Source:OK place, very average. Â I totally agree with other posters about how big the place is. Â Even when there are people in there it seems empty and depressing sometimes. Â On the plus side, it's good for large groups of people with all the open space. Â The food is just average pub grub. Â Nothing terrible, nothing awesome.
Review Source:Anyone living in the Milford area for the the past 10 years will remember the time that Doc's tried to get a strip club license. It was big news because all the religious types in the area freaked out that "their town" would be tarnished by the stain of live nude dancers. Doc's ended up losing their fight and the memory of the event faded into the past.
The problem with Doc's now is that it's designed to be a strip club....but it's not. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the huge open space between the door and the bar running the length of the entire back wall. The management has obviously tried to break this up with an awkwardly placed wall and booths which are uncomfortably out in the open. You will also notice the smaller function rooms (almost always empty) which clearly would have been used for lapdances.
You end up getting the feeling that the place is too big and too empty and get depressed. Were there should be a main stage and poles you see 10 to 15 tables of which maybe 4 are occupied.
What could have been Milford.......what could have been....
I'm traveling on business in this freezing cold place outside of Boston. Â The water in this crappy hotel (Fairfield Inn, Milford MA next review) coming out of the tap is brown so I figured I'd get out for an hour or two and grab some Pub Grub, maybe catch some hockey or basketball and perhaps roll a round of Golden Tee, if offered. Â
So I "Yelped" sports bars to see what was near by when Doc's Sports Bar & Grille came up. Â I read the reviews, set my expectations accordingly, bundled up to go out in the arctic, Â jumped in my rental car (2010 Camaro with only 15K miles on it and is also a piece of crap) entered the address into the GPS and headed over to 340 East Main Street and BUST, the placed was dark, as in all locked up, no cars in the parking lot, all street lights on their property off.
I figured they went out of business. Â NOT the case. Â They are not open on Tuesdays. Â How stupid is that! Â And they don't publish that little nugget of info. Â I only discovered after calling their number to validate the number was out of order prior to posting out of business on Yelp, but the voicemail system said push 2 for hours (which I did), and then informed me "We've gone back to our "normal" fall hours", which translates to they're not open on Tuesdays! Â Maybe I'll try back tomorrow and re-review, assuming winter hours don't start tomorrow and consist of closing shop on Wednesdays.
Pretty crappy. I've been a couple times and the place, while big and filled with screens, is always pretty empty. I don't know how they stay in business. The food is bad, the service is bad, everything is just bad. Makes me sad because the place has such potential; there aren't any decent sports / entertainment places like this anywhere nearby.
Review Source:If you are in Milford want to watch a ball game with a bunch of young folks then this is the place for you. They have a very long bar with few bartenders so be prepared to wait for your drink during big games. Doc's serves food which is really below average for sports bar venue food. If you want to run a tab at the bar you need to have them hold your credit card which is not good when the bar is busy. Advice. Bring cash and pay as you go.
Doc's has been fighting the town of Milford to have Adult entertainment. I personally do not want to eat where jugs and jibs are dancing around..but that's just me.
Came here during a business trip. This is a very large sports bar and restaurant. There must have been over 12 bigscreen TVs all over the place. I only ordered 2 food items there and they were both delicious. The buffalo wings came out super hot. The meat was tender on the inside and nice a crispy on the outside. The way it should be. I also tried their clam chowder which was delicious. Their portions are very big and not too expensive. The guy next to me ordered a sirloin. Nice atmosphere to watch sporting events. They also have poker tournaments and Keno for your enjoyment. Friendly waitstaff.
