Donatos Pizzeria

Finding food downtown on a Sunday evening can be quite an adventure. I walked along Main St and Lucy Blue's wasn't opened, not that I was in the mood for pizza, but I was starving. I kept on and once I saw that the Donatos' lights were on, I almost had to bite the bullet. So, I was happy to see that they had a non pizza, hoagy, etc offering: the Cranberry Chicken Salad (~$7) And I was surprised that it was actually good. Lots of chicken and blue cheese, and craisins that lasted the whole salad. (Anyone else hate when you get halfway through the salad and all that's left is lettuce?) Oh, and the salad was pretty large too. Win!

I've always been a fan of Donatos. I wish there was one in Louisville.

The boy & I stopped by Donatos while on break from an event at the courthouse this past Sunday.  We were initially worried the restaurant would be filled with other attendees, but were relieved to find it near empty.  We ordered and assumed our food would be ready fairly quickly.  Fifteen minutes or so later, about 20 people from our event arrived & were ordering.  Thirty minutes after arriving (and after some of those 20 people had gotten their pizzas), the boy got his pizza & the server told me my pizza was just coming out of the oven.  Fifty-five minutes after arriving (after the boy finished his pizza, almost all of those 20 people had gotten their food, and 5 minutes away from me going to the counter to demand my money back & leave the restaurant), I got my pizza.  The server also brought an order of breadsticks to make up for my wait.

Now this offer of breadsticks, while nice, did not make up for my wait.  I completely understand that the restaurant was likely unprepared for this number of people on a Sunday afternoon in downtown Cincy.  They likely never see this number of people in a single Sunday, let alone just for lunch.  There was 1 person in charge of working the register and giving food to customers.  However, I didn't get the feeling that there was any sort of system in place for ensuring the orders were filled in the order they were taken.
