My husband and I used to drive to LBI just to go here for dinner or we'd stop after a day at the beach. That was back in the '70's. I haven't been there for a very long time so last night my son and I went. He had sea bass that was covered in a cream sauce. He liked it but I tasted it and didn't think it was very good. I had the sauerbrauten with spatzel and red cabbage. The cabbage and noodles were very good. The sauerbrauten seemed just to be pot roast covered in a sour-sweet sauce. That's not real sauerbrauten! It should be marinated for days and the meat itself should be quite sour. It was ok and again my son liked it but I know what it should taste like and this ain't it. Also I have 2 identical pending charges on my card for the bill. i called to resolve it and am waiting right now for them to call me back after they check.
Review Source:Service was bad
Came in early but was never told that there was an early bird special until way after we ordered and next door table was told about specials and early bird special
Onion soup and Weiner schnitzel was excellent
Never got salad that was ordered
When manager was told about these complaints they were oh so kind to remove charge for what we weren't served
We were told that the early bird is only upon request
Lie
But the veal was really good
I was really looking forward to some weinerschnitzel and other German specialties. As I explained to Tim ( the manager?) last evening, the food was bland and awful. Tim's response was bordering on apathetic and condescending; no remedy was offered. Perhaps if the menu were more focused and in accordance with  the restaurant's German orientation, the food would have been decent. It's really a shame, this place has all the potential in the world!! The journey to get there, the reception and ambiance as we arrived and the jukebox made me really excited to have chosen this restaurant.
The best part of our experience was our very pleasant and accommodating waitress (Kerry) and the EXCELLENT appletinis.
