This place is awesome, great food, good service, and friendly people. Just dont go when the rodeo is in town. It gets extremely busy.

Worth the drive for great burgers, superior customer service, good selection of beer, lot's of light and air-open windows, and welcoming environment. My grandson recommended the place two years ago so we checked it out. Been back frequently ever since and have not been disappointed.

Stopped by here on the way to Countyfest with some friends.  My one friend was beyond excited to go here...

Unfortunately, it turned out to be extremely average.  Average service, average prices.  My friend got a draft beer, and she said it wasn't that cold.  I got a bottle, which came from the bin/counter of ice in the middle of the bar, and THAT wasn't even that cold.

It was okay, but not great.

The best burgers by far and a great selection of beers. The burgers rival Hodads in OB! Recently moved to lakeside and Eastbound is our favorite place for a night out without the kids. It is a great place for kids too though.

Service is off the chart! Our family has had lunch a couple of times and have really enjoyed it. I have been in to catch a game a few times and they really take care of you and their appetizers sure hit the spot. No other place can even come close in Lakeside.

Hadn't been to Eastbound for a while and thought we'd stop in for a quick bite.  Place was hoping at 3PM.  I had the California Salad and was it every good!  Hubby had the usual CB & Fries and he wasn't disappointed.
Glad to hear their expanding to La Mesa.

Love the decor and atmosphere.  The Blue Moon on tap was perfect.  We have gotten a few burgers and the California Chop salad.  Always good stuff.  We love this place.  :)

Anytime someone wants a burger, this is where we go. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them (we have had most of them!). Love the friendliness of all the wait staff. Salads are great & hugh too! Love the "purse hooks" under the tables. They make everyone feel at home! Wonderful place to go & take the family!!

High marks just for making a cool East, east County place to hang out! Great servers and great food, awesome breakfasts on Sundays, and a bomb place to catch a Charger game, just packed full of fans.

Great beer, awesome food espicially the breakfast. Has an unusual atmosphere for lakeside which is most lakeside bars are filled with a bunch of dudes with back acne and MMA shirts looking for a fight. Parking can kind of suck and police seem to patrol the area pretty hard.

Overpriced bar food that is equivalent to the Burger King across the street. It's a dive bar so as long as you don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

This place has some bomb ass burgers. Just be forewarned though, they are messy. Not your average kind of messy either, I'm talking thirteen napkins, sauce running down your chin, stains on your clothes messy... Definitely worth it though!

These burgers are not for the faint of heart. So juicy and full of flavor!!

Our waitress, Kristin I think her name was? She was amazing! She was super helpful, funny, and sweet! Great customer service!

Everything about this place is right. I love it!

AMAZING, AMAZING!! I went tonight with my mother and the service was awesome! The food and drinks are delish! If anyone goes to this place is going to ring the bell for good customer service all the time! Even though I had a burger and fries I bet that everything on the menu is great! Enjoy :)

This place is great. They are located off the 67 near the rodeo. They are located in the heart of lakeside. The area is what it is, lots of bikers and some rough and tough looking guys hang out in the area but it is pretty safe. Everyone who comes to this bar is just looking to hang out and drink a beer not start trouble.

The first time we came here we found a parking spot real close to the bar and the second time was a little bit of a hike but still worth it.

The food is amazing. The burgers are some of the best I have ever had. My wife has tried their colorado scramble and said it was good. The drinks are cheap and not watered down. They have a full bar.

This place truly prides itself in customer service. They have a wonderful staff here and they even have a bell by the door you can ring if you enjoyed your service.

The other day my wife said to me I want a bloodymary, She tells me that out of all of the bloodymarys she has had in her life, Eastbound Bar and Grill makes the best. A side note, thsi place does not advertise this, but it is a really good Sports bar. East bound should be called "Eastbound Sports Bar & Grill". we watched the UFC two weeks ago there. GPS all the way. Football is the best there too. All around great bar and employees are very friendly.

It is sad to me, as the token Asian who was born and raised in LKSD, it had taken me three long years to come and check this place out.  When I did, boy was I sure proud to be a Lakesidian.

As I was leaving Barona from a mini staycation, The Mister and I were pondering where the hell we should eat.  I mentioned a few places I used to frequent as I was homegrown Lakesidian... I take out my trusty Yelp App.

Well, what do ya know?  Eastbound shows up... to be fair, I may be a bit biased on this restaurant.  The kids I grew up with opened this place.  Stayed true to their roots, and even got second runner up in the annual SD burger competition (behind Slater's 50/50... Which is overrated as fuck).

As we were walking in, there was a chalkboard with the daily specials.  "Omelette" was spelled "Omlette"... Yessir!  I definitely knew I was home.  We were seated promptly and the waitress asked for our names.  Classy.  We were referred by our names for the rest of the time there (from people who weren't our server).  It was awkward, but definitely payback for every single time I referred to somebody by their name when they're wearing a name tag (which is all of the damn time).  Not sure it was for me, but it was a nice touch.  Usually I'm referred to as, "That Bitch"... Stepping up in the world.

Now to the food.  The Boyfriend got the bacon burger and I got the corned beef sandwich.  My Boyfriend had to unhinge his jaw to even fit it into his mouth.  Since I swapped out my rye bread for their torpedo shaped french roll, the Boyfriend had a nice time watching me eat tube shaped foods.

The fries were nice and crispy and accompanied with some kind of thousand island dressing as an alternative to ketchup, though they still served ketchup.  They don't think their food is too good for ketchup.

*Narrows eyes at Craft and Commerce*

They had catchy names such as "The East-Pounder" and "Lake-Sliders".  Flipping adorable.  I'm a sucker for play on words.

As far as kids being allowed in there, I'm mixed on that.  I'm a foul Pirate Hooker and I was the "Good Girl" growing up in LKSD... Think about it.  Though I wouldn't take my own child there, to each their own.  I imagine the parents who would take their kids to that loud, abrasive-type atmosphere's famous last words before they die would be something like, "Hey guys, look what I can do!... LFFL!"

Ah, and the Bloody Mary's... they were spicy, they were good, and they came with beef jerky... a LKSD staple.  It wasn't no BS Slim Jim... This jerky was legit, like Jack's Link or something.  Classing up LKSD one processed beef product at a time.  I can dig it.

Jokes aside, this really is a cool place to stop and grab a bite.  Unless I was still trapped in LKSD, I wouldn't imagine I would make it my local watering hole, but I would certainly leave my house to go somewhere that felt like home.

Keep up the good work, ya hear?

Oh, and on the ticket, my name was spelled "Kristine"... It's "Christine"... Follower of Christ and shit (I'm Buddhist, thanks mom... She clearly didn't look up the definition of my name), not "Kristine" the meth head.  But The Mister and I had a good chuckle about it.

    Good music,  people and drinks!

Came here to have some fun on my friend's b-day!

This was a a good bar. it was on the dead side when we first arrived but livened up about 1 hour later.

There was some type of problem where they could only have pre-recorded music. The music was a pretty good mix of songs so I can't wait to try this place again with a real Dj.

The bathrooms were the only downfall. 2 Stalls, but 1 stall had no door...lol.  I was just hoping no one had to take a deuce in the open stall,,,,,lol

They have a pretty good menu of food. From what I understood they only serve food when the manager is here, and late at night only the snack food is made.

I love the location because there's a 7-11 right next door.

We had an awesome waitress! I just felt like I was imposing when I tried to place an order at the bar (with another employee). This other employee was very abrupt and demanded I pay now.

There is a 12-15 dollar min. on cc purchases.

Love love love this place.  The bloody mary's on Sunday a.m. (or anytime) are delicous and a meal in themselves.  The service is the best, these folks are professionals, they remember and call you by your name.  And the menu is great too.  Can't say enough.

Eastbound, how I love thee. This hangout has the best burgers in town, and no, not just in East County...in San Diego.  Run by a couple of local kids, this place is Lakeside's pride and joy, a home away from home.  Add in the fact that it's stumbling distance from the Rodeo grounds, Eastbound is everything a small town bar should be.

We LOVE this place. I saw kids there, but I definitely don't think it's a place to bring kids unless you really have to. There's a lot of drinking and it's VERY loud.

The food was really, really good. Especially their wings. And I'm a born and raised Buffalonian, so I give out wing compliments sparingly.

We had a bit of a lag in service as our waitress was new, but the manager was totally on top of it and gave us a discount without us even having to mention anything.

We used a yelp deal to try it out for the first time.

This is the perfect place for a girls night, date night, whatever. It's just a great place to get some bad ass food, drink and be merry!

What the hell happened here?  Did they get new management?  Did someone drop the old management on its head?

Business-wise, I guess Eastbound couldn't be doing better.  When we showed up for lunch today, it was the first time we ever had to wait for a table.  I guess there's no accounting for taste.

Sadly, a goodly number of seats today were filled with kids.  In a bar.  And yes Lakesidians, I get it.  It's legal because they also sell food here.  But that don't make it right.  Treat yerself ... and us.  Get a f-ing babysitter for crying out loud.

And what happened to the food?  The gravy on my Country-fried Steak was luke-warm at best.  And the burgers the other folks had just weren't up to the standards of the Eastbound we've come to know and love.

And what's that gut-thumping, uber-loud music?  We couldn't even hear ourselves talk, much less the person across the table.  It's lunchtime in a burger bar, not midnight at Pacers.  Six hours later, and my head is still pounding.

And why is it we can eat at a place 20 times, and each time is great.  But the one time we talk up a place and bring someone new to Eastbound like we did today ... and it all goes to shit?  Why?

On the upside, our server "Emily C" was great.  Service is the one thing they always seem to get right here.  Too bad we'll finally break down and try Steers Burgers & Fries up the street next time we're needing some grub in Lakeside.  What we experienced today just wasn't worth nearly $17 each for lunch and a small beer.

Tried this place for the first time today and I will be back. Their service was amazing best service I've had anywhere! You get greeted right when you sit down they ask what you want to drink then ask for your name so they call you by your name the entire time. Our food was delicious! Must go to in East County so glad I found this place!!

Not only is this one of the best places to feel right at home....especially when this happens to be your hometown!! Eastbound is located on a corner of Main St. Lakeside that I walked by everyday on my way to and from school. Now as an adult that comes home every few months I have to come by here to have a few beers, try something new off the menu, and remember those simpler times....when I would be walking to and from school. Portions are awsome! People are true!! The best things for me is the tap selection!! For such a small town fabulous place they know their craft brews!! Thanks Eastbound for yet another moment that my mind's eye gets to stroll down without a huge grin!!!

Great place, especially for Lakeside where there aren't a lot of cool bars/restaurants.  They make a point to really make you feel welcome when you walk in.  I've been there a few times, and the servers always introduce themselves to me and are very attentive.  The food is good, and the portions are large.  It's not the best I've ever had, but definitely not the worst.  Lots of TV's, so you'll always have something to watch.  Also, great breakfasts...especially if you're hungover, thanks to the good Bloody Marys and Mimosas.

Heading home from a weekend of camping at Lake Cuyamaca we needed a place to stop and catch the football game. We browsed yelp and saw the Eastbound Bar & Grill had a half off deal. We saw mostly favorable reviews so off we went.

We were greeted by what seems like the whole restaurant as we walked in and found a table being cleared for us. I was happy to see a decent selection of craft beer and my better half was pretty excited about the make your own mimosa bar. We ordered our drinks and studied the menu. Knowing we needed to spend $40 to get the deal we got to work. We ordered the chips & salsa, buffalo chicken ranch salad, and a rodeo burger. The food arrived promptly and in huge portions. It was all very good too (bar food standards)

I May have given 4 stars but the $40 for $20 was enough for that last star.

Start off by walking in and every employee says, "Hey guys!"

Love that they are attentive and friendly but I'm not a guy and prefer not to constantly be referred to as one. I know, it's a little silly but it is really a pet peave. Anyhow, service is super friendly and quick. That's probably because they have too many people working. Their labor costs must be through the roof! We counted at least eleven FOH employees at one point. Yes, the place was full, but a good staff of no more than five should have been perfectly capable.

Something odd floating in my beer. Ahh well, nobody's perfect, right?

Food is generous portions and really no complaints there, but it doesn't blow me away (hence 4 stars, not 5). Love the garlic sticks. Weekend brunch is great too, even if their Bloody Marys are a little obnoxious!

Great prices all around and even better happy hour. We will definitely be back.

Good place to eat when you are in the mood for the sports-bar venue.
I was extra impressed with the ease and friendliness of the staff, not pushy but attentive. We were there for dinner durring a game; lots of locals filling up the place. The food portions were good and it was tasty.  This is a step up for Lakeside - yeah!

I have been meaning to come here for some time after reading the Yelp reviews.  Drove from Rancho San Diego after a movie to get a burger and a beer with family.  We ordered two Rodeo burgers and two Eastbound burgers with cheddar.  All came with fries, which were delicious.

The Rodeos were huge (half pound) with tasty barbecue sauce, delicious bacon and a couple of onion rings.  The meat seemed really good.  My only complaint was that the patty was a little overcooked. My fault though, as I gave no directions on how to cook it.  The regular quarter pound cheeseburgers (grilled onion and choice of cheese for $.50 more) were great and about the right size.  I will get the quarter pounder next time and I could only eat about half of my Rodeo.

Very friendly service.  They greet you coming in the door, and seem genuinely glad to see you.  Attentive service as well, and a pretty good selection of beers on tap.  Even the customers were friendly.  Also lots of televisions around the bar to catch a game.  Make sure to ring the bell on the way out to recognize the good service!  I will be back!

I have been to Eastbound several times and each time I have had a good experience. Super happy they finally have their liquor license!

Came here on Sunday for some breakfast and mimosas. Someone greeted us and sat us right away. It was busy but the place was very well staffed. There was a bit of a confusion or mishap with my eggs, but no worries because it came out just a few minutes after my friends food.

The only thing I would say, is maybe they are TOO helpful. Before we even got our food we were asked at least 4 times how everything was... well i havne't gotten my food yet but my mimosa is great... I made it myself so i kind of expected that much! LOL

They had a do it yourself mimosa bar that has about 4 different juices on it so you can make your own mimosa concoction, I made a pineapple strawberry mimosa!! YUM!

Also I have heard great things about their omlett bar but have yet to try it. maybe next time! Big portion sizes and reasonable prices! Overall I had a great experience and will be back.

If the place isn't too busy then you're in for a treat, if it is busy you might as well go somewhere (anywhere) else. They have good happy hour specials and delicious food. I enjoyed their pizza, buffalo wings, and hamburgers! They have good beer and cider which I love. And a jukebox you can access with your phone and pay for your songs with your phone too!! So neat.

If you're lucking to go there on a certain day you get to keep your 20oz glass cup when you order a certain beer.

The service isn't too good. I've been here maybe three times over the past year and other than one time when the place was almost empty it's impossible to find your server.

We just love this place, even if its loud and some folks get a little crazy. The El Cap alum guys that own it are really great and all about friendly service. It is probably the best thing to come to Lakeside in a very long time. They say hello when you come in, and find you a seat, even when its packed!  We love the Lakesliders, but tonite we wanted something different, so by special request they made some Baby Blue  Sliders, they were awesome and not messy. I dont like a big messy burger and these little sliders are perfect, plus I brought half of them home for lunch tommorrow. Eastbound keep on doing what your doing, and go EL CAP!!

    I don't think I can stress enough:

Every restaurant owner, manager and server that works West of the 5 needs to come to Eastbound and see why I would actually consider driving half an hour ALL THE WAY TO LAKESIDE over riding my bike to your bar/restaurant.

    A little thing called: SERVICE

No really. I know your bar probably doesn't have the same problem that all the other beach restaurants do. YOUR servers aren't taking 20 minutes to refill water or take an order (ahem, sandbar) and you most definitely don't mix up an order (ahem, blue parrot) and there's absolutely no way your servers forgot to thank their table for coming in. (ahem, south beach)

Eastbound Bar and Grill has killer service. Period. I don't think I've ever felt so welcome and taken care of as a first timer in a bar. We were welcomed in, greeted and given the royal treatment. Okay, so it's still a bar/restaurant, but if you've ever seen the movie "Waiting" it was not based on Eastbound.

Well, I can't comment on the kitchen and how many "goats" have been around. But that doesn't change the fact that I would give everyone that took care of me a big fat high five for how good of a job they did.

I will admit, we only had the jalapeno cheese dip and a few beers so I can't actually tell you if they have the "Best Burger," but that doesn't matter when you're actually getting service instead of watching your server check their texts and dream about hitting the beach while you wait for your cocktail you can see at the service counter. (ahem, every bar and restaurant).

This place is so awesome!  Lakeside really needed a place like this and I'm so glad Eastbound finally came to fill that void.

    Back story:
Coworker and I were in the area and she said it was a fun, loud place to go and have lunch, but that the food was yummy.  She called it a "guys bar".

    Food:
We shared a blue cheese burger with onion strings and bacon and a side of onion rings.  Holy moly are their portions good...and Oh So Tasty!  Burger was perfectly seasoned and there was so much blue cheese crumbles, melting out of the burger...it was amazeballs!  Onion rings crunchy and yummy too!

Definitely not my normal hang out spot, but for sure a gem in East County!
