BEER:THIRTY
I lived in Dublin for a year and often stopped at Evie's on my way home from work. It was a great place for myself and a carpool buddy to chat over beer and tell our work stories. Decent prices, a friendly staff, and pool tables are all you need at 5:00 after working all day. Evie's serves all three.
I miss living close to this bar (though, I do love my new local ones). But this is still a great stop whenever I'm in the area for a minute!
I come to this bar regularly after a long day at work and absolutely love it. The bar itself is a small more intimate location with several flat screen tv's streaming anything from baseball to hockey as well as a jukebox with a wide selection of music. The real reason I come here is for the bartenders. Marta and Jay are always welcoming and friendly but Jonay is my favorite with her great attitude and conversation at the bar.
As with any small location such as this there are only so many opportunities to play a game at their 2 pool tables or hear your seletions on the jukebox but the bathrooms and seating area are always well maintained and cleared of debris unlike many pubs in this area.
I would definitely recommend this location for someone searching for a great place to pull up a seat and enjoy a pint as an oasis from the daunting reality of a long work week.
Came here to help celebrate a friend's birthday and St Patrick's day a day early to avoid the St Patrick's day drinking crowd.
Small little bar in a small parking lot and lucky for us we had gotten here early enough to get a parking spot.
Beers (at least the ones I care to drink) are $5.50 a pint. I got a Sam Adams and made my way to the back of the bar where two pool tables awaited our group.
Pool games are $1 each game (get a couple bucks in quarters from the bartender)
A jukebox in the bar provides the music.
All in all, not a bad place to hang with a few friends.
I been searching for a pub, though I wish I lived in Dublin because this would be my place to hang out, it has a few pool tables, calm friendly clientele and nice bartenders, good music and a nice place to relax and chill. I liked that it has an Irish theme, had a good time there on a pre St Patty's day gathering with the fellas parking was great and easy, I guess I was lucky, they also have shuffleboard as well. Â I wish there was more to write but basically a nice place to have a good drink or beer!
Review Source:This bar is alot larger than it looks from the outside.
They have 2 pool tables, a shuffle board, and a jukebox.
There are many locals here and this place has a "neighborhood" bar kind of feeling.
Drinks are cheap. Bartenders are friendly and so are the clientele.
There are few places in Dublin to hang out late at night past 10 so I would recommend this place to catch up with a few friends and grab some drinks before heading out to start your night, or just for a chill evening.
Screw this place!! White supremacist bartender who disrespects our Soldiers serving our country!!!!! Bad service and a bartender with an attitude trying to start fights. White guy with bald head and goat tee. Do not go here. The guy acted like he was being bothered whenever someone wanted to order a drink. He was a complete douche!
Review Source:drinks are average, the atmosphere is dive-ey but average, but the people are sweet as hell. super friendly bartender, and i was engaged by a couple of the regulars. they were super friendly and almost seemed like they were out of a parallel universe from Cheers. lol
i think the people who come and the people who work here are what really make it for me. every other place around dublin / pleasanton is full of  pompous douchebags who think that all the girls at the bar showed up just to get with them. (pardon my language but it's as accurate as i can get) . i've never experienced that at evie's and it's great
In reply to Lawrence C.,
I show up at Evies a few times a year when I'm home.
I was there that night.  I like Coltrane as much as anyone, but you had an axe to grind that night!  The bar was doing sing  alongs to classic songs and  having fun.  Next thing we know, you had put in a whole string of acid jazz. Â
The bartender  tried to explain the situation to you, and bought you a drink, but you were ready to cause trouble. Â
Evies is a fun local bar.
I went to Evie's last night for the second time. Â It is the only bar I can walk to from my house. Â The first time I went the bar was dead, no more than ten patrons the entire night. Â Last night was busier, 25 to 30 people. Â The bar has a jukebox so I decided to spend some of MY money and listen to some music that I enjoy. Â What a mistake! Â I have never been treated with such hostility in my life. Â I am aware that my musical tastes do not fit into the societal norms, however, I was shocked at the anger the bar tender and most of the patrons exhibited because they were exposed to some jazz music. Â Halfway into the second song, the patrons were com planing and they started skipping my selections. Â How rude! Â I tolerate music I don't enjoy everywhere I go. Â Bars, restaurants, grocery stores , doctors' offices, elevators, airports, coffee shops, gas stations, etc.... I never complain. Â What is wrong with our society? Â I play a few jazz tunes and the bar tender is yelling at me because nobody likes the music. Â WHO CARES? Â I am a paying customer. Â If you don't like music don't have a jukebox. Â How is it possible people are so offended and outraged by music that has a REAL piano and doesn't have any lyrics? Â IT'S JUST MUSIC!!! Â I will be back however. Â Join me tonight for Coltrane at 11:00 pm.
Review Source:Can't believe I haven't reviewed Evie's yet! Even my friend Amy J. has beat me to it! :)
Evie's is what I would consider an "average bar" and that's not a knock on the place, but nothing exciting. You won't find hipsters or dance music or a fancy mirror ball. Just the average crowd of those either meeting for drinks over pool, dimes in the juke, or as my friends and I do ....a late night haven
(slim pickins' in Dublin for late night hang outs) we usually all converge to grab a girly drink & catch up on gossip.
Plenty of seating both at the bar and within. Sufficiently lit. Clean restrooms. Parking both out front and in the back. And a "safe" place at night for women to meet and not feel either picked up on, or worried to walk to our cars later.
And both bartenders that I have met Marta & Jay are both very helpful and accommodating with the drinks. Professional bar service without attitude, ageism, or any other sour behaviors.
A well lit bar with strong pours, what more can you ask for? My friend Julie K was here with some of her pals so I stopped in to say hello. They have a jukebox which was playing some interesting tunes when I walked in, a pool table and shuffle board.
I mainly came in for the company but from what I gather this would be a decent place to gather friends nearby. I like bars that have activities so this is definitely one of those places where you can sit, have some drinks with friends and hang out.
The bartender the night I came in was super helpful too. If I don't feel like going far and just want to meet with friends later in the evening, I would probably stop in here.
Brought a gal pal here for a couple of drinks for her birthday. Â Before we knew it, we were having a shot with the bartender and sampling new drinks and concoctions. Â The bartender was friendly and hilarious. Â Because it seemed like a local joint, I felt pleasantly surprised by the welcoming environment.
Overall, for my first night at a bar in Dublin, it was a good experience!
Evie's is a clean looking bar stuck in a  truncated commercial space. it's kind of a small space.. not a lot of seating. lots of flatscreens so one can watch anyone of a dozen sports that are occurring at that time. couple of pool table also available.
draughts on the pricier side (5.5) or one can grab the special beer (4)
was there briefly until the locals left so i don't know how they treat outsiders.
bartender and the owner/manager are friendy., hospitable.
on draught:
-only about 6-8 usual suspects available, no new microbrews
-parking may seem terrible but the back has pretty of spaces.
This is a GREAT local bar. It's in a safe neighborhood. The clientele varies. I tend to stop by Friday nights on the way home from wherever we may have been. Jay has been there forever & he's friendly. Pours a good drink :)
Example on the people. Last night around 10:30- 2/3 deep at the bar, pool tables full. I was sitting @ the bar people watching. Jay was the only bartender. Not once did I see ANYONE waiting for a drink, waving $ not being served. Everyone was taken care of. By 11:30- the place was pretty empty & quiet again.
Another reviewer had a 'complaint' about no food. What's great about Evies? Bring in your own food. They don't care. I walk in regularly with McD's fries since they are down the street. The gentleman next to me last night was finishing up a pizza. There are PLENTY of places around to bring something in.
Come in for a drink! Enjoy :)
This little pool hall/bar was actually a lot of fun. My husbands friend was on leave from the Navy and we wanted to show off our new little town so we took him to the only bar we knew of, Evie's.
It was very quiet when we arrived at 9:30PM but soon after people piled in and the place was PACKED. Now, mind you, the place isn't all that big, so when it reached its capacity we were ready to leave! But it was a good experience all around.
I finally decided to give this place a try because I was looking for a place to watch some March Madness during lunch without having to wait forever to get my food. This place isn't bad at all. Plenty of tv's, shuffle board, pool...but it's missing one thing: FOOD. A little hurdle, but I didn't care at the time. They had enough tv's for me to watch all the games from my seat. They allowed me to bring in food, so I got Caspers from down the street and everything worked out. (except my NCAA Â bracket) A couple Fridays later, I went back to kill some time before dinner and a movie and the place was busier. A lot of regulars it seems like....and yes, they had more basketball on for me. I wish I had more to drink cause Clash of the Titans ended up being a bad movie.
Side notes: Parking lot is a little small. Blue Moon- yes. Orange slices available? I can't remember.
Went here for the first time after work and stay about an hour or so but a nice place, very clean including the ladies room. Bartender was very nice. Yes, it's definitely a local place but I like that.
I will definitely go there after work once baseball season open, because of all the TVs. Another big plus is the free wi-fi.
Wow - I am bummed. I was hoping to find that cool little bar everyone yelped about. Not so here.
It was a-ight, but dingy. The bar food looked like Aunt Millie's tailgate fare. Chili in a mini crock pot, weenies in a big crock pot, and assorted cheese slices that were wilted. Oh, and just dig your hands right on into the chip bowl... Yumbo.
The wine selected was hilarious. What kind of Chardonnay? There are 2 kinds, Sutter Home and La Crema. Talk about good and evil!
Also, you better bring cash folks or risk paying a $2 processing fee if you try to use your Visa...
I don't think I'll be going back - but for those who are looking for a neighborhood joint that is part dive bar - have fun!
I've been in here a couple times and it's definitely a local place. It didn't take long for some of the barternders and patrons to try to make me feel included. I still wasn't 100% comfortable, but I'll keep going back and eventually will be part of the "in" crowd..LOL
BUT - I went on a Wednesday night to watch the basketball playoffs and the music was too loud, obviously it's not a Sports Bar, although it does seem to try sometimes, hence all the tvs and sports memorabilia on the walls.
All in all not a bad little bar for a quick drink!
If your looking for that "Cheer's" place where everyone knows your name and the bartenders know your drink, Evies is the place to go. Everyone has to have a local pub and this could be yours. All the bartenders are friendly and make you feel like one of the gang. And as you know a bartender can make or break a place and these ones make it.
PS: There is no Karaoke at Evies any longer
This is a great place to go if you are one of the 11 towneys that hang out at the bar all the time. My friends and I have never had a more unwelcoming experience at a local bar. It might be the fact that we brought the average age down by a couple of decades.
If you are looking for a chill bar in the area go to Yalls or Sunshine in PLeasanton.
With no warning, they have removed karaoke from the Thursday night lineup. Â
This really doesn't seem fair...
Just as we were making this a regular in our karaoke rounds, and after I'd invited a group of 12 friends to join us, I'm glad I called in that morning to find out the schedule before showing up to NOTHING. Â
Bites.
I have been to this bar a handful of times. Every time I have left asking myself and my friends, "why did we go there again?" Â
The last time I went there with a few friends and I was the designated driver for the night. We had already been to a few clubs before we wound up there. I was ordering just a glass of water and tipping every time the bartender gave me a refill, even though he was giving me an attitude for not ordering a drink.
Towards the end of our stay, one of my friends couldn't hold in her booze and yacked out side. So I go in and ask for a glass of water. The bartenders response, " I'M NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF SERVING WATER! TALK TO ME WHEN YOU WANT A DRINK!!!!"
Needless to say none of my friends, nor myself will every go to this dive bar ever again!
Solid 4 stars, Kids! Wanna play shuffle board? Wanna shoot pool? How about just plain old shoot the -ish? This is a great place for after work to watch whatever game might be on, or to just people watch. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders are friendly and the ladies room...VERY well maintained. Make sure to play the on going dice game for 50 cents - you might win a couple hundred.
Oh...and be nice to Jay, the bartender. He's a good dude.
This is a great neighborhood divey bar.
Sounds kinda repetitive huh?
But really! You go inside and its one big room. It's lit so now worries of "it was so dark, i didn't know she was actually fug!"The bar runs along the left side of the place. In the back of the room are two pool table set ups. Shuffle board on the right along the wall. and a few small tables in the middle (the kind you just stand at  moreso and have drinks.
I came here because my friend suggested i come out. I was kinda bleh about it since it was in Dublin but he said i should come out. PLus also it was the eve of my bday. Him, his two friends and I headed over and i felt kinda doubtful about it from the looks of the outside. Went in and actually had a great time. The bartender was really nice. It was a woman with long dark hair. She bought me two drinks when she caught wind it was my birthday. The people there at the bar were nice too. Someone bought me a round of drinks, then even went on to put some money in to play some songs on the juke for me. I saw the "resident" bar goer with his bucket of beer.
The drinks were good, normal priced. I would def go back again
And like someone noted, girls side rest room was clean! ^_^
Cool jammin joint this is!
It reminds me of my old stomping grounds Long Beach.
Pool tables, fully stocked bar (they have blue skye), Awesome jukebox!, cute/funny bartender and cool peeps!
I ended up here after my friend JLO had some bad beef at this other bar and she's all "Let's go to MY bar" I was like OK! We had a blast! This will definitely become a regular stop for me.
The only small complaint/suggestion is, it's a little too BRIGHT inside... maybe some dimmer lighting.
So here we are last night meeting some friends to play pool. They pick the place and say meet us @ Evie's. Evie's, Where the eff is that? So we make our way over to Dublin and it looks a little skech from the outside. Looks straight up divey. We circle around the front  for parking and felt like all 6 pairs of eyes inside the joint were checking us out and not exactly sure as to why. We didn't see our friends' car out front so we decided to pull around back for a looksy. Same thing. We get to the back lot and through the door we can see everyone eyeing us. We parked and I was thinking "I am not going in UNLESS our people turn up." But then I decided to jump on yelp on my iphone while we waited and read some decent reviews. I saw the post about the madras and we decided to make a go of it.
One * is for the bartender. I didn't get his name but he was cool. He is the captain of this joint and checking everything and everyone out. Â I asked about the madras that I read online. He's like "It is vodka, cran and OJ" That cracked me up for some reason. I had one anyway and he asked me what kind of vodka I wanted. Goose!
Another * is for the jukebox. That thing was cool. It's like a gigantic  iTunes. While I only spent a few bucks playing songs, I had a great time searching for stuff.
And another * is for the work that has been done inside that place. The place is clean, freshly painted, well-lit. The two pool tables are decent. There were a few folks who brought in their own cue sticks but for the most part, the play was casual. I noticed that the lights over the tables were cool -- with red dragonflies. The ladies bathroom was clean -- amen. I'd say there is pride of ownership in this place for sure, which is great. There was shuffle board, too (but we didn't play).
I'm taking away one star for no bar food. I was hungry for some chicken fingers with ranch sauce or some garlic fries or SOMETHING. Alas, you can buy a pint size of chips for $1.00 off the wall. The patrons figure they can go round to Lucky's (one building over) and bring over a pizza pie. We didn't order one, though.
Overall, a good experience. We'll go back to this little place that looks like a dive but is comfy inside -- despite the slight intimidation we felt just from driving into the parking lot. We'll go back and intro some of our other friends to this casual joint.
This is very close to five stars. Â The limited selection of bottled beer is keeping me from giving the max, but we got a nice Sierra Nevada and Fat Tire on tap.
Everything everyone else said... The bartender made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Â It is casual, friendly and well lit. Â We came around 11pm on Friday, and there was a good crowd but not packed. Â We only had to wait a couple of games for our turn to play pool. Â They have two reasonably nice tables. Â On one table were more casual players playing partners, on the other table were some really great players. Â In spite of their impressive skills, they were really cool and friendly. Â (Nice shooting, Chuck!)
Sorry I'm so pool-centric. Â Pool and beer, it's what I love. Â And nice people. Â I love this bar!
The bartender here is suuuuch a sweetie, she pours perfectly and is very friendly. Wish I could remember her name, but she's the rockabilly-type looking girl, with black hair and glasses. Ask her to surprise you. She made me my new favorite drink, a Madras. Yummy.
The place is rather large; there's plenty of room to play a lively game of pool without smacking somebody with your stick.
Buuut... I dunno, there was such something about this place that really put me off. It was probably the leering old men in 10-gallon hats, and obnoxiously loud country music.
I'd check it out again though for happy hour.
I love this bar! This was the first place I started to frequent prior to moving to San Ramon. It's a regulars bar and after ten minutes they will make you feel right at home. The bartending staff is AWESOME ! They will make you a drink and then you make you known to the other bar patrons. It has a pool league, football pools, BBQ's you name it. It's a place where people can meet and become friends and not just "bar friends." Sappy, but true. It is a fun local time.
******update************
With the addition of the internet juke box the place now has free wi-fi! So don't be surprised if your iphone is moving at warp speed.
Ask Janalle (spelling) to come up with a special drink for you or you can try mine - the raspberry  truffle. Lorabelle is a sweetie too. Make sure to smack your boyfriend if he stares too hard. Gina is omg super funny, pick a night when her friend (name forgotten) is going to be there and it's on! Jay is cool too.
They don't play about having your ID - so don't try it. You'll be asked to leave in record time - and gas is expensive.
Evie's has moved just around the corner. Â They are now located close to Boat Masters on Village Parkway. Â
I've lived in Dublin for 10 years and have never gone inside Evie's thinking it's just another dive bar. Â Well, last night a buddy and I decide to go there. Â We were pleasantly surprised. Â Evie's is just a regular bar. Â It's far too well lit to be a dive. Â The bar is very well stocked and the mixed drinks are alright. Â The bartender (I didn't get her name) was extra friendly and ran a very professional bar. Â Our drinks were never empty for more than a couple of minutes before she asked us if we'd like something else. Â On top of that, she was very pleasant to deal with. Â
The place has quite a few regulars and it gets noisy at times, but that's what's supposed to happen at these places. Â Now, I need a few cups of coffee before I can get back to work!
