This is a wonderful karaoke establishment. I have been here many times and I love the atmosphere in here.  There is a mixed crowd (all nationalities and ages) which I look for when going to a karaoke place because it is less intimidating opposed when it is all one nationality or one age group.  The chicken wings are very good and the bartenders give a really good pour on their mixed drinks.  They also have an extensive collection of songs.  Would definitely recommend to others.

They use a Taijin karaoke song book from Korea.  It makes it really hard to know what songs are in the system unless you flip through every page and hope it's in there.

I know it's not their fault, but they could do a better job of letting people know what top 40/top 100 songs are in the machine rather than having to exhaustively flip through the book.

I really wish Taijin/Ziller Media had an easy to find online song book online somewhere in English.

Once you get past that and your friends load it up with Bon Jovi and Sinatra songs, you'll find Kesha and Britney Spears and you will be forced to sing them in front of friends.  It's alright though because no one sings worse than Kesha does herself.

We've had a great time every time we've gone.  Make sure they explain how the system works and where the English song book is and you're fine.

Facility is clean, staff is nice, and they love large parties.

Make sure to book your reservation several days in advance as they fill up fast as the night wears on.  The place gets a lot livelier later in the evening, so don't be put off if the place is empty at 8pm at night, you're just way too early for the crowd.

Also to note:  Since it's private rooms, they search for people sneaking booze in pretty hard.  Save yourself the trouble because they will eject you when they catch you sneaking a full size bottle of vodka into the place.  I've seen them do it.

Best house specials are the fruity soju cocktails.  We especially enjoyed the strawberry pineapple soju.

Private rooms. Felt a little shady at first, but a great time. Need more like this in the metroplex.

This is a karaoke princess' paradise! That's right, folks! I "didn't stop believing", "shined bright like a diamond" and  "mmmbop-ed" my way through the night! Cat N was awesome enough to book us a private room for a Yelp Karaoke UYE and it was a blast!

Now, I'm no stranger to karaoke, but this place is really the best of the bunch. If you're like me, you detest the wait times between each of your songs. Thanks to their private rooms, you're in an intimate setting where you'll be able to sing multiple songs in a short period. This is also nice for folks who are a bit shy in a large crowd. They have multiple screens and two wireless mics, so you can see the lyrics and sing from any point in the room. Drinks were a bit steep, but the overall experience was 5-star worthy!

Parking was the only (small) issue I have with family karaoke. You are permitted to park in the Treehouse lot (it's a restaurant that you'll pass just before you see Family Karaoke), but you cannot park across the street from Family Karaoke or along the side of the roadway or in any gravel area. You CAN park in one of their many parking places, but they were all full when I arrived, with the exception of a few that were unusable because other drivers' had parked over the lines and with such strange angles as to make inserting my car into any of the available holes impossible. If you parked somewhere you're not sure is safe, ask the bartender he was quite helpful in determining whether our cars were going to get towed or not (they DO tow regularly around the business).

All that aside, this is by far the best karaoke place I've been to in Dallas. The songbooks are way easier to figure out than the ones at KTX, the room price is the same, the drinks are stronger and cheaper ($5 wells), and the sound system and microphones actually work here. Just for sake of comparison, at KTX, the songs (in English) are listed by title, which results in long pauses between songs while everyone feverishly looks for their next song. Here, the songs (in English at least) are listed by ARTIST. Family Karaoke understands the concept of using categories to organize and retrieve information from our brains, and this results in a continuous stream of song orders and no silent search periods.

No smoking inside (unlike KTX), which is a plus. The people that work here were extremely nice and seemed to actually care whether we were having a good time and whether the electronics given to us were functional. They do sell food, which looked fine but I don't have much to say about it. They had some interesting menu items like a footlong corndog for $3 and scotch eggs - neither are items I'd expect to see at a korean karaoke place, but I guess it is Dallas!

If you want to sing karaoke and then sober up with a huge pile of delicious korean food, start out at Family Karaoke and then go around the corner to DanSungSa (open til 4am) - you will not be disappointed!

This place was a blast for a friend's birthday. The private rooms are big and clean, and there is a bountiful selection of  songs (although far more in Korean than English).

The karaoke controller/menu was a bit confusing for us, since it was in Korean... but we figured it out (all but how to lower the reverb... there was quite the echo).  The best part  of all, though, might be the korean soap operas/dramas and old women in glittery sweaters in concert that are playing on the TV as a backdrop to the song lyrics. We were dying laughing at some parts.

Food-wise: I had the curly fries while there - they were good. Their offerings remind me of bowling alley food, minus the second hand smoke. Beers and liquor, too, although I did not partake.

We really enjoyed our visit... just be sure you make a reservation before showing up, and do not park across the street (they will tow you)!

Always a fun time out here.

Parking, you may find difficulty the later you go. remember to show up early and start exactly when you were booked. if you show up 7:10 and you booked the room for 2 hours @ 7p. you gotta be out the room by 9p, not 9:10p.

Drinks, Jin does a great job pushing orders out. Great bartender so tip him well if you had a great night!

Restrooms, they seem to always be clean.

Karaoke Selection, make sure you make a playlist. they usually have every popular song you can imagine.

Karaoke Room size: remember to always call to give them a heads up and on the party size. They usually always try to help accommodate any request.

Think karaoke is just for singers???
Think again...I can't sing a lick and I've had my birthday here two years in arrow as well as coming here for other peoples events. It iis AWESOME!!!
They have a public area with a bar and *gasp* public karaoke but then they have the rooms.
    Per hour....
    $20 for small room (7people)
    $25 for medium room
    And $35 for large
These rooms have leather chairs, tables and screens along with the remote and microphones. Here you can sing as awfully as you want safe in the knowledge that you have carefully handpicked those to join you who also can't sing a lick and wouldn't even dream of videoing you and putting you on Facebook...right??!!!
Anyway...it's a great and always a fun time. You can bring props...we always do and they will help you set up the karaoke if you struggle but it's not too difficult.

    * one word of warning there is a porn button where if you get the wrong channel you might get quite a shock. On this same note realize these rooms are private...and there is a porn station....and it is open til 4 am so understand what these rooms may have been used for. However I have never ever been there and worried about the level of cleanliness. Also on many occasions I've seen kids parties here too so it takes all sorts

Overall a wonderful find in Dallas and I hope I'll do my birthday here for many more years!!!!!

We decided to come to Family Karaoke for a going away party for a dear friend. We'd done the typical bar karaoke before, but we kind of liked the idea of trying this private room karaoke out instead.

We got there pretty much right when the place opened. They checked our IDs at the door, and we got our microphones after we left a credit card with the hostess. We were expecting a slightly larger group, so we got the medium sized room. An employee came in to the room and asked if we knew how everything worked. We had no idea, so we got a quick run down on their English remote (there was 1 in English and 2 in Korean). We didn't have any problems, but we weren't able to change the background channels at all. Reading Yelp reviews, I know it's possible, but I had no idea how to do it and the remote didn't really give any indication.

There are a handful of books in each room that list songs in many languages. The English song list was sufficient, but some staples were definitely missing (no Billy Idol?? Only 2 Bowie songs? One Beastie Boys?). We certainly found plenty to sing and even asked if we could extend our time because we were having such a good time. They were very gracious and let us extend our time by an hour (Maybe it was a slow night!).

We ordered drinks from the bar once. We tried out the pineapple soju and it was very tasty! It's $8.50 for a little carafe of it. I didn't think it was the booze bomb that other reviewers mentioned, but it was tasty and just boozey enough. A Jack and coke was like $14, so the bar tabs certainly add up quickly. Be mindful of your ordering or it'll get really expensive really fast!

If you're not sure about coming here vs doing a regular bar karaoke, there are certainly pros and cons to each. Since you're in a private room with friends (I hope), you'll likely try your luck at doing some songs that you would NOT do in front of a large group of strangers. I know I personally sang three songs in our room that I'd never do at a regular karaoke. Also, since it's just you and your friends in the room, you can sing as many songs as you can fit into your time limit. No waiting for 50 strangers to have a go before your chance.

Of course, traditional bar karaoke has some pros as well: if you're an English speaker/singer, you're going to have more options at a regular bar, the backing music is typically more in line with the original song (these were all synthesizer/keyboard tracks, which was HILARIOUS when one of our group sang Metallica and when another sang Slipknot), and you get the added joy of cheering on (and also giggling at, to yourself) total strangers. I guess it takes more balls to get up in front of a room of strangers than it does your buddies in a private room.

I can definitely see myself coming back to Family Karaoke for a special group outing like the going-away party we did this last time. But for a typical night out, we'd likely go to a bar doing karaoke.

I've been to Family Karoake probably 10 times and always had a really great time. The only exception being spending way too much money on drinks, food, and the room (even split between friends it can get expensive quick). The service is always good and song lists updated. They are a little sketchy when it comes to people bringing in outside food/drinks. Theyve made me open my jacket before to make sure I wasn't hiding anything. I guess they have a big problem with that.

So, I've always had a good time there until last night when I went to close my very small bar tab of two beers and a cocktail. I was surprised when they charged me $95 for a couple drinks. I told them it was wrong and they fixed it. New charge is $21, awesome. No big deal, right? They explained the $95 charge wouldn't go through since they voided it. WRONG. They charged me for both amounts, and come to find out they did the same thing to my buddy when he paid for the room. Days later I found out there was a billing issue that took about a week to fix. My tab was added to someone elses and thats how the mixup began. I have since received the money back.

Been here a couple of times, and i'm surprised with how updated their song library is.  John Legend - Tonight which isn't a highly commercial song was available, and that song be my jam!  I completely regret typing out that last sentence.

Come here with your group of friends, get your drink on and sing your hearts out.  That's a recipe for a good night.

Karaoke and a full bar/menu? What's not to love.

Rooms range from small to large, and the song selections are unending. Even new released songs are updated each time I visit. Each room has their own couches, multiple tvs, tambourines, and lighting systems. Servers come in to help you with anything you need (food/drink-wise). Open real real late (not sure the exact time, if there even is a closing time) but alcohol DOES end at 2am. They'll even come in and take all your unopened/full drinks at last call. Follows TABC to the T. Bags get checked at the door, and even ID's after a certain time.

    If you're hungry, get Ramyeon!

Hands down.  This place wins for most amazing place ever created.  Yes, even more amazing than that place...oh, and that place too.  Apparently they have really good Pad Thai, but unfortunately for my stomach (and liver) all I did was drink.  And drink.  So I didn't get a chance to have any food.  But in any case, let me break it down for you.

Private karaoke rooms for you and your friends equipped with luxurious couches, two huge flat screen TVs, amazing song selections, private waiters, open till 4am...yep, FOUR!. Food served till then, but drinks till 2am.  Damn.  If your private waiter is being slow, no worries, there is a HUGE bar out in the main area.  Drinks are cheap and you can dance on the floor till your hearts content or until you want to go back into your room.  I can't remember the last time I partied like that.....all for karaoke.  Another amazing little point, when you choose a song, the video that comes up is a Korean music video made for American Karaoke.  Hilarious.  Also, if you don't choose a song in an appropriate amount of time, they will actually play the Korean song...and that my friends is awesome.

It's also amazing that even people that don't particularly care to sing karaoke or even anything about it....will eventually get up a make a fool of themselves.  Which is exactly the point.  We got there around 10:30pm and only waited about 15 minutes for a room, but I know you can make a reservation...and apparently if you don't, the wait is never very long.

I also LOVE it because you don't have to sing in front of people you don't know (which is usually my problem)....its all about you and your friends.  I think its $22 per hour for a room, but don't quote me on that.....I clearly drank way to much.

I feel deeply ashamed that I have not reviewed this place yet.  I LOVE this place.  I'm a bit of a ham (ok, i'm an entire ham - what?  I'm a Leo), but singing in front of strangers doesn't appeal to my more shy friends.

The cure?  Family Karaoke!  You can rent out a room, cram as many people as you want in there and sing your little heart out.  It's genius.  There's even a waitress who brings drinks.

The first time I went, it seemed like the service was a bit better, but I wouldn't let slow drinks stop me from singing "Billie Jean" and dancing like a fool with my buddies.  This is a great place for a birthday party.  Again - LOVE it.

Closed on Mondays?! Ughhh....trying to get my party on here!

Besides that, this place has some pretty decent deals on room (check out website) and a song selection that you RECOGNIZE! How important is that to having a good time? Super.

Cocktail drinks are about $4, but I highly recommend a bottle of Soju. It's something that you can all share and who doesn't like to sharethe cost?

I'm not sure why I'm full of rhetorical questions, so I'll get to the point before you think I'm a budding politician:

Comfy couches, two big TV screens in each room, and time flies by fast and you're not penalized by going over 5 or so minutes, as Amad A. mentioned. I've sung my heart out a couple times. Meant that I had a good one.

Family Karaoke is overall the best karaoke place in D/FW.

From the inside, it's pretty nice. The lobby and rooms are spacious and always clean. The employees here are chill and they don't try to screw you over by charging you extra if you're 5-10 minutes over your time.

The song selection is pretty good, too. You're not going to find a ton of American songs, but then look where you are. They did make this place pretty friendly to English speakers, though. They separated the American songs and even have a remote that's in English.

Yeah, it sucks that they got rid of 1/2 price days, but if you're with a big group the cost is crazy cheap, anyways.

The biggest problem is that this place gets CRAZY packed, especially nights on the weekend. GET A RESERVATION!

    Family is the bomb.

I was soooo happy to find this place after I moved to Dallas.  I lived in Japan for three years and pretty much all I did there was drink beer and sing loudly and terribly, but passionately, into microphones.  This place filled a little nostalgic niche in my heart.

I've been here a few times and each time I leave slightly deaf, but super happy.

For my 21st birthday, I went to City Streets and hung out in the karaoke room getting drunk and prepping to go on stage. When I finally got up and started belting it out, I was immediately jeered at and boo'ed off stage. So sad. So embarrassing. Even though I really do suck, karaoke is meant to be a fun and let loose event. And this is exactly what places like Family Karaoke allow you to do! The separate rooms at about 20 an hour are perfect late night gathering places for me and my wannabe singer friends to get together and act a fool without the condemnation of random obnoxious strangers. And if you don't care about those random strangers, you can sing on the main stage for $3/song. Family is my favorite because of the big leather couches, the wireless mics and the huge tvs... and their awesome karaoke dollars that I've happily accumulated and am looking forward to use.

It's recommended that you make a reservation, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings and late into the early morning. If you don't have a reservation, save yourself some time and trouble and call them before driving out there to make sure they aren't booked solid.

Don't let the name fool you.  Unless your "family" only consists of people in their 20's to 30's getting drunk and belting out the best 80's and 90's music...and Gaga...then the name is a bit fallacious.

This is my favorite karaoke spot because it is "asian style", private rooms for you and your friends. Meaning, the non-Celine Dions of the world can get funky on the mic without worrying "did I take enough shots before getting up here?"  The asian anime on the t.v. screens is pretty entertaining choreography to try and mimic during the songs, too.

I've been here with large groups, small groups, dates, and birthday parties.  It's always a great time.  I suggest calling ahead and reserving a room if it's a Friday or Saturday night.  It's perfect for post-partying "what do we do now?" at 2am too, as the place stays open until 4am on weekends.

The food is somewhat average, but the drinks have been pretty strong all the times I've been.  Order a carafe of Korean kool-aid for you and your friends.   I have no idea what it's actually called, but I always order a carafe of "purple Korean kool-aid" and the waitress always knows what I'm talking about!  Remember taking Dimetapp grape-flavored medicine when you were a kid, and sneaking a double dose because it tasted so good?  This is the adult version. :)

    Good times at this place!

1:30am Saturday we were looking for karaoke - couldn't find anything open except for these joints in K-town. The name being "family" we were thinking it must be like a place similar to Main Event or something geared for families/kids and went to another place down the street which ended up being full and not very nice. Since the other place was full, we came here and figured no kids would be out this late and decided to at least give it a try.

Pros: My friends who NEVER get up to sing karaoke did it here. Lots of drinks and laughs and we each got to sing 4 songs a piece within 2 hours...that never happens in public karaoke at a bar or restaurant.  Nice sound proof rooms - you don't hear anything from the neighboring rooms and (luckily) they don't hear you.

Cons: NO TOM PETTY! Wha?! Also, they wanted to charge my friend $2 for a straw to drink w her Red Bull. That's just retarded. Also, they came in without warning around 2am and started picking up full drinks to take away....then they said we couldn't drink anymore and could hurry up and finish them while he waited there. It would've been nice to know this ahead of time.

Overall we'd go back knowing what to expect....

As you can tell by all the other reviews, this place is amazing. Here are some tips for having a great time:

    1) Reserve a private room. You don't want to get stuck out in the big room where hardly anyone is singing. It's not that expensive if you get a good-sized group of people together.

    2) Meet your private room attendant/server and introduce yourself. It will be easier for them if they know who is who when bringing drink orders.

    3) Hold your private room attendant/server hostage until they explain how to work the Karaoke remotes....the remotes are all in Korean, so they can be a bit tricky. (I wish the rooms as instructions in Engligh....they only have an English key for the remotes....but if you don't know what to do you won't know what buttons to push)

    4) Don't forget to change the fun backgrounds....we found that the dancing one was best for fast songs and the weird animal channel worked best for slow songs. ha!

    5) Take pictures! You're going to want to remember your night at Family Karaoke.

    6) If you've got a bunch of people drinking, just order a bunch of drinks each time your private attendant/server comes in....not when certain people just want a new drink. You won't want to piss your guy off for making him go back and forth all night....they work hard keeping your drinks full.

We had a blast here...and you will too. Just go!

    Mic Hog Approved!!!

Okay I'm going to admit it. I love to sing, I love to ham it up mic in hand and Mariah Careying it up. So what! At Family Karaoke you are only among friends!

The greatest thing about coming here is that you bring your own audience. So you know everyone who is out there waiting for you to hit that high note (and after a few drinks you will).

Depending on your party size you can get a small to ginormous room.
Each with multiple flat screens and mics plus tambourines. Now if only they had cowbell! The rooms are furnished with large comfy couches and chairs. A large coffee table(s) in the center will keep your drinks & food at arms reach.

Speaking of food and drinks get the chicken wings!!! Drinks are pretty reasonable and well mixed. A word of caution, if you have never tried Soju, it may seem like a girly drink but just you wait. I have seen it take down the manliest man, and seen them bow fully before the Toilet God the rest of the night. For room service, flip the switch and a waiter will come in to get your drink/food orders, they will all be added to your final bill. If you want to pay your own way, the bar on the far right as you enter the building will gladly keep your own separate tab.

As for the song list, it's very extensive, especially if you are multilingual (English, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, etc.) there are thousands of songs to choose from. The flat screens will all play the song of your choice complete with strange and varied theme backgrounds, everything from TV Dramas to Sports to Girls Gone Wild Videos. You can change the background, that is if you can read the language those controllers are in. If not just stick to the song numbers.

    More Cowbell!!!

I just love love love family!

I have been to a few places before but this is topnotch. It may seem overpriced but I have been to some that cost more and then some.  It can get pricey if you its only a few people.

I love the fact that added the specials for Tuesdays and Wednesdays as well! The more the merrier.

They always provide friendly service and sometimes after a night out at the club who doesn't love to sing their heart out. After moving to the new location, they offer a lot more rooms (although some weekends they still can get full). You also can reserve a room over the phone as well.

This place is super clean and doesn't have that old or dirty smell to it.

And if you haven't tried soju, it is so worth a try. You can also add a flavor to the soju that make it super delicious for drinking alcohol. I must warn you.. it is a creeper! LOL Don't think that the yummy tasting drink can't get you drunk.

If you want to enjoy singing privately this is the place to be!

    P.S. Try the Cheese Ramyun

Hands down best karaoke in Dallas! I've been a fan of Family Karaoke since it opened where Star Karaoke is right now, but the move to Goodnight Lane just made Family Karaoke more accessible to people and I'm glad people are moving towards going there more.

Everyone is has already explained the rating system and the interior design of the place, so I'll focus on the excellence of service.

First off, all the staff are fluent in English, and that itself just makes this establishment different from all the other karaokes. Myself being Asian, I know how some Asian places just shut off completely and service their own group but Family doesn't do that. They welcome every demographic and everyone is treated equally. Most others promote underage drinking and drinking after 2am but not Family; they go through all the legal procedures and are careful with security and comply with all the laws. I've had my fair share of underage drinking during the days (but being a chicken, it's always at some house party) and I applaud Family for holding up and not serving minors as they are a major source of income for many entertainment venues around the area.

Service is great, and the call button inside each room has them come in to get what you would like. Most of the drinks and food are all reasonably priced and they don't stiff you on the bill just because they see that you are a little more tipsy/drunk than you should look like.

Overall, all the people at Family karaoke remember their customers very well and are polite and nice. Now if more people would come out to karaoke with me.. har har har.

For the sake of "usefulness," let me point out the room rates:
    - $20/hour for a 7-person room
    - $25/hour for a 14-person room
    - $35/hour for a 25-person room

Now let me stun you with my math skills:
    - $2.85/hour per person for a 7-person room
    - $1.79/hour per person for a 14-person room
    - $1.40/hour per person for a 25-person room

    Whoa...talk about good, cheap fun!!!

Now, if you consider that you'd gladly spend, say...$5/hour for karaoke, or maybe even $10/hour, then just buy yourself some drinks and pretend they're included.  Overall, the amount of fun that comes from drinks + karaoke = heck of a good deal.

The facilities are clean, the service is excellent, and the song selection is amazing.  However, they are tragically missing "Love is a Battlefield."  Heartache to heartache we sang.

Family Karaoke was one of those pleasant suprises and the type of book you can't judge by its cover.  Seems like other people have mentioned this, but the exterior is a little shady considering you have too turn on "Goodnight Lane"  I can only think of a few worse names for a sketchy, ill-lit street for a karaoke bar.

The TV's in the private rooms are pretty nice perfectly proportinate to the size of room.  The couches are big and abundant and the rooms even have a button you can push to summon the waiter for drink orders.  A great tip I learned was that the songlist books are not a complete list of the songs available!  You can use the "artist" menu on the giant calculator-of-a-remote to pull up the menu and search for additional song titles not listed in the fat book.  Also, there's an English-only song book sorted by artist if you just ask at the front desk.  Family is much cleaner than Star Karaoke around the corner.  But beware of the thumpin' club scene this place turns into on a weekend night.

If you are looking for the best karaoke in DFW, this is it.  It's kind of hard to fine during the night unless you've been here before so keep your eyes peeled.

There's plenty of space in the private rooms, which sits 12 easily.  The couches are nice and the song selection is second to none.  New songs come available pretty quickly after you hear them on the radio.  There are 2 screens on oposites sides of the room so you won't have much difficulty following lyrics to any song.  They also give you 2 remotes, but one of them is in Korean so unless you memorized the keys or know Korean you're pretty much stuck with one.  If you can keep from laughing at the silly movies playing in the background you should be fine.

If you want to save money, get your grub on and/or pre-drink because they charge a pretty good amount for anything other than the room.  I would recommend calling in to make sure there are rooms available especially during weekends.

    I love this place!!

I considered giving this place 4 stars on the basis that the food and drinks were so expensive....but then I realized that I didn't come to eat and binge drink. I CAME TO SING!.

The rooms here are great! And come in a few sizes. Leather seating, low tables, wireless microphones, great televisions, and so on...

Their karaoke remotes AREN'T in English but there is a map guide in the song book that shows you the English words for the buttons.

Reservations aren't always needed but I would suggest it. Just in case.

Check out their website for their song lists and menu items.

This place, in one word: Awesome!

I went last Sunday with my boyfriend, just us two (I know, what a party). We called about 10 minutes after 10 PM, and the woman who picked up told us to just come right in. We didn't have to reserve, and she was incredibly nice and spoke perfect English. Anything about this place being rude is silly!
It wasn't really bumpin' with people then. I'd advise to get there a little later, around 10:30, and reserving beforehand for busy nights such as Half-Price Rooms Tuesday.

It's extremely roomy, and it actually isn't all that loud. The floors are pretty dirty but the books are clean and very easy to navigate for non-Korean speakers. It didn't smell like smoke, either! Big HD tvs showing the lyrics and awesomely loud music.

The song selection is VAST, including English songs. I sang mostly Japanese songs, and they have quite a large selection- if the Foreign songs are what pull you to this place, be careful, because they only have Japanese lyrics and songs in Kanji, and the Korean songs are only in Hangul.

Food and drinks were EXPENSIVE!!!! That alone is a star off for me. Don't try to sneak in snacks or drinks either, they search your bags.

If you're looking for a place to Karaoke, you should visit this place. It turned out to be such fun for us, and it will be for you!

    American Idol...Smamerican Smidol

I dont know what it is about karaoke but I turn into a different type of monster when the mic is in my hand and all eyes are on me.  I have a terrible voice, no stage presence, and a bad sweating problem when in the spotlight.  But I forget all that when the words show up on the screen.  This place is pretty chill.  Private rooms so its only minimal embarrassment in front of friends.  Full bar to lose some inhibitions.  And soft seats to laugh and make fun of your friends as they sing their hearts out.

If you're looking for some silly fun this is your spot.  Just warm up those chords with some vodka before you hit the stage.

Yes!!!  What is more fun than having drinks and making a complete fool of yourself by singing in front of others?  I went with a group of work friends last week and we had a blast.  Yes, these are not the "real" versions of the songs (i.e. synthesizers instead of guitars), but, our voices are not the "real" voices either.  The song book is in many languages, but there are plenty of English songs to choose.

I love that you can choose your own background for the songs.  You can choose between nature scenes, Korean variety show, dancing cartoons (how do they stay on the beat?), Korean soap opera, or music video style.  The best music video was the war one with people being blown up and bloody.  This always came on during extremely happy songs, which made it hilarious.  Also there is "Channel 19"; beware of Channel 19 if you are with children, family members, or anyone you with whom you would not be comfortable sharing a T&A moment.  THAT was awkward!

The service was really good, but I'm sure the fact we were there early and may have been the only group there played a part.  We ordered some appetizer trays, but did not sample the Korean food.  The appetizer trays were fine, except it was dark and I accidentally ate a fried mushroom.  I couldn't tell what it was!  I almost hurled.

Karaoke is more fun when you've already been drinking.  Unfortunately we had not been drinking beforehand, so it took a bit of courage and dorkdom for us to start.  I recommend coming with a group after a few warm-up cocktails.  You will have a blast.

I agree with some of the reviews already written about this place.  You definitely have an advantage if you're Korean.  But I've always had pretty good service and not one reservation has been lost for me.  I guess it's always good to confirm reservations wherever you go.

One thing I have to add is if you are 21+, try about the flavored Soju's.  If you're unfamiliar with Soju, the best way of describing it would be is that it is the Korean equivalent of a vodka.  They are delicious and is perfect for sharing.  We've tried a handful of flavors, like the strawberry, pineapple, green apple and they are quite tasty.  But be careful, after a few swigs of it, you'll start feeling it.  So make sure you have a DD!

Their song list is so extensive that there is absolutely no problem in finding something you'll want to sing.  And the best part about it is you'll even be able to get your shyest friend to sing their heart out!

Alright Family Karaoke, you need to step it up. I love you, for your sleek interiors and your amazing English song selection. But I do not like having our reservation "lost". Especially after I confirmed by phone after receiving an email confirmation about my online reservation. And not only did our reservation get lost, you were utterly unwilling to admit that I had a reservation at any point. Ignoring me, while helping other customers, sure, will spare you my wrath for an extra five minutes, but my wrath only grows, chickadee.

I appreciate that you guys edged out a room for us on a busy St. Patrick's night. I really do. But then kicking us out after a two hour limit, without informing us, also irritates me.

In short, please step up the service, guys. You need a better system than sticky notes and print out of the online reservations. Customers don't want to feel like they need to know Korean to be treated like a human being.

But I do love the bartender being so sweet about the $5 minimum(yup he got a tip), and the door guard being so talkative and nice about me having to pay the remaining bill with a $2 bill.

I tend to enjoy things despite all the problems, so in my heart, Family Karaoke gets 5 stars for being all-around fun and merry times. However, for the sake of everyone else's opinions, it gets a 4 star rating because the joint is not without its flaws!!

The first thing you will notice is that to get there, you have to turn off a pothole filled road into a dimly lit alley ominously named "Goodnight Lane" beside a razor-wired storage yard filled high with chopped wood and scraps out of a horror movie. The perfect way to start any alcohol-fueled shenanigans late at night, I know!!

When you get inside, it's actually very well kept and lively! It's loud and smells heavily of smoke and alcohol out in the "main hall", but once you go into the rooms (there are different sizes depending on the size of your group) it's much more comfortable. The bar and food is pretty good (decently priced), but note that they don't do their full menu on weekend nights. It gets incredibly crowded on weekend nights (and on half-off days), so be prepared to wait! Additionally, if you have someone in your party that's below 21, go early because they kick anyone under 21 out after midnight. The karaoke place is open quite late, but depending on the crowd, you will usually have a 2-3 hour maximum time limit.

The song list is fantastic!! There are mostly Korean pop songs, however they have a huge selection of English, Japanese, and Chinese songs, and even Russian and Spanish ones (among other languages). I was excited to see some old Russian pop favorites on there! The songlist is updated monthly too, so chances are if a song has been quite popular for a month or two, it'll show up on there. The karaoke system is pretty good too, with different screen options, voice settings, and adjustable pitch/key, volume, and BPM. They have nice clear LCD TVs in the room (on both sides of the room, so one person can stand up and face the party while the rest can watch them and the lyrics at the same time - technology is amazing!!) and you can even bring a game console system in during the week (not on the busy weekend nights) for a stylish, alcohol-catered gaming party.

Unfortunately, unless you speak Korean, reserving a room is not reliable at all. About 95% of the time that we've reserved a room, the reservation has gotten lost or bumped out of the way. The only times our reservations have gone without a problem was when it was reserved in Korean.

Despite everything, this place is incredibly high on my list for "Fun Things To Do on Saturday Night" and is probably the best karaoke place in the Dallas/Fort Worth area at the moment. It does not hurt that the room rates are incredibly inexpensive and make for a very wallet-friendly weekend activity.

Ditto on what everyone else has to say about it.

I was with part of my regular crew and some new chicks that I met earlier tonight. One of them is freaky. o.0 Freaky, as in they like to watch ass and titties on the background of the karaoke screen as they sing. I was like, "Yeaaaaaaaah!" I'm not sure if I should be afraid of the openly freaky chicks or closet case freaky chicks. Either way, good times. ^_^  FYI, I don't know which button on the controls pulls up the porn. I should have asked. Haha.

Family Karaoke Music Studio, not so "family" if you know how to work the controls.

Instead of repeating everything Tri and Fran had to say, let me just say this is the BEST KARAOKE in town! Possibly, the best I've ever been to!

I took my little sister and her bf and we all had a great time.

Believe it or not, the prices are dam good and they even have $4 off coupons. They also have happy hour on mondays or tuesdays.... great time to practice so you can impress your friends a few days later.

Great place, I am a fan!

I seriously love coming here with friends and belting out some English and Japanese tunes in our own private room. Really, the experience can't be beat, and I'm so glad Dallas has this to offer. Just be warned, on the weekends things get VERY busy and you almost have to have a reservation (which you can make online from their website) if you don't want to wait an hour and watch groups of Korean princesses saunter in the door and right on their waiting open room (which should be yours, you think, YOU'VE been waiting for 30 minutes already! Little did you know they made reservations in advance).

On weeknights we've generally been able to walk right in and have a carefree karaoke experience, but one recent Saturday night we arrived at 11:15, got a room at 12:05, were carded (no one under 21 allowed after midnight) and unfortunately my little sister was four months shy of 21 and we all had to leave. And oh, yeah, I had just started on a Long Island Iced Tea which I then had to shotgun on our way out the door (that was fun!). That's right, we drove all the way downtown and waited 50 minutes just to have to turn around and go home, when if we'd made reservations like the on-the-ball Korean regulars, we could have secured a room before midnight and not been carded at all. So heed this advice if you're going on a weekend!

Honestly, the best karaoke place I've ever been to.

They have a full bar with all the drinks you can imagine at pretty decent prices. They have half off drink specials on one of the weeknights (I'm just not sure exactly which one.. it's either Wednesday or Tuesday. And the other day is half of karaoke).

The building is brand new so everything is nice and clean. When you first walk in, they have the traditional karaoke stage where you can sing in front of the entire bar. But of course, they have the individual rooms as well if you want to keep it within your group of friends instead of singing in front of a bunch of strangers. The rooms are EXTREMELY nice. All brand new, high quality equipment. Flat screen 30+ inch HD tv's on BOTH sides of the room. And the couches are so comfortable, you could fall asleep in them (as long as your friends don't sing like dogs howling at the moon).

And this may be a nuisance to some people, but it is an addition that I like: every night they have bouncers and security guards. This keeps the young gangster thugs and underage drinkers out so you can have a nice, trouble free, enjoyable time with your friends and even allows you to bring children out safely.

I definitely recommend this place for any and everybody. BEst karaoke house I've ever been to.

This place is new and clean. The English song collection is pretty good. I like the fact that the background music for the songs are not those silly keyboard recreated version. The only thing i don't like is the remote control, it's all Korean, no English.  You have to memorized the function of those control buttons.

We had a great time there, and two hours were flying by very quickly.
