I have driven by this place a few times and always wanted to try it as a big seafood lover. I happened to find myself in Marlboro around dinner time so I stopped in with my boyfriend and had dinner at the bar. We had drinks and then ordered. The entire time the bartender was barking passive aggressive things to the staff when they would come over to grab drinks for their tables. He was also very unnatural and didn't really make us feel comfortable at the bar. Weird, but whatever. He did make a good martini...
I had the Cioppino and bf had the fishermans platter. The Cioppino was very good. The sauce was excellent and I love that it came with whipped potato. I would come back for this again BUT the fishermans platter (what seems like the easier item to prepare!!) was not good. The clams were soggy and the tartar sauce was just plain not good.
Between the bartender and the prices vs taste I am not sure I would return. I might go back, get an actual table and try more entrees, but I know now not to order clams!
So, we went there for a birthday celebration and i had heard about the $1 oysters...Our table of 3 ordered a dozen and I wish we had doubled that! Â You get your choice of the kind that you want or as we did, our server brought over six and six based on "brininess" preference...Meals were good but a little pricey for the portion sizes...we went for lunch. Â I had the lobster salad blt sandwich which was overwhelmed by the bacon flavor. Â Once I removed the bacon, the delicate taste of the lobster was able to shine through. Â My husband and I will definately go back for the oysters and drinks, not sure if we would order full meals though.
Review Source:This place was fantastic. The atmosphere was great- big windows, jazz band playing, nice atmosphere. The food was out of this world. Usually go to Island Creek for oysters and these were just as good. I had the baked stuff shrimp for dinner- DELICIOUS. Highly recommend this place for a hot date.
