I frequented the 5o clock club, before evi's took it over. I loved the old nastalgic atmosphere and the great bartending of Ally. I was very disappointed, when I found out that Ally was no longer going to be there. I feel, she knew alot of the patrons and was a great asset to the new establishment. My opinion... bad business move!

This venerable watering hole has been marinating here for decades.   Have not been there lately but recent reviews confirm continuity of atmosphere.  Sorta small for live music and dancing, but seemingly still popular.   Proximity to Sarasota Memorial suggest patronage by medical staff...hotties, coldies and in between.  Also it has long been a dark quiet cave for regulars to sip through the afternoon. They just need to move along or dig in as happy hours erupts and the music lovers take over.

We went here on Thursday night after a lovely dinner at Pacific Rim and Ladies Night at Libbys and we topped it off with dancing and more drinks at this club. Best night of our mini vacation. The reggae band was awesome.

Club in the name of this place kinda throws you off since it's the exact opposite of a club.  Very divey, no frills bar.  I was here on a Friday night around 12:30 and it was pretty empty.  There was a band playing that wasn't bad.  They have a nice outdoor area with a decent amount of seating.  $3.50 beers is a plus.  The crowd is what you would expect at a dive bar with live bands, kinda older and laid back.  If you're looking for that kind of scene then this is your place.

Love this club.  Great live music venue.  High energy night spot that I have supported for years.  Great bar full of local regulars every afternoon and then as the night unfolds and the music cranks up this place kicks!  Great food near by so you can make a night of it by just parking on Hillview Street.

I would even venture to say 4.5 stars!

I was randomly in Sarasota last weekend for the bf's racket ball tournament.  As I said, random.  So I break out the trusty laptop and sign into dear old Yelp.  Alas we find that this place is down the street from the hotel we were staying at, so it became a high choice, and I liked the review below.

The 5 O'clock Club is a neat little place!  I was super surprised and had a really great time here.  They alternated between a live band and a DJ that was playing some good music.  Now, I did not see the "Sarasota Hotties" (lol) as promised, but we did meet some interesting characters that I will post some pictures of.  I would say the crowd was a bit older, but everyone seemed to be having a great time, dancing, and carrying on.

The venue also has a nice little outdoor patio area and bar, and with the perfect and cool weather, we had to sit outside for a bit to experience.  Overall, I really enjoyed this place.  It was a nice break from the typical Miami club scenes...  A fresh experience!

This place reminds me of a typical Saturday Night - in a live Blues bar on Division Street Chicago , but with much less room to dance or move to the other-side.
What this unique "The Five-0 Club"  offers however, is at least a bus load of Sarasota hotties who are professionals in the medical field. Perhaps that maybe because Sarasota Memorial Hospital is just across the street.  I met many professionals in this club who came in to re-wind sort-of speak after a long day in surgery. The combination of    the smooth music by a live Blues band or their  amazing drinks. But be prepared to be bumped or touched by passer-byes with drinks in hand... I give the Music (bands) 4 Stars - The Club services, a 3+ Star.  Atmosphere 4+ Stars (if you like mingling with a crowd)
