Having Some extra time for lunch, decided to go to a local restaurant and see what the local fare was like. The 466 was easy enough to find.
I picked the Blue Cheese Haddock from the luncheon menu, and it did not disappoint me. The fish was flaky and light, the sauce complemented the fish, the breadcrumbs added the perfect amount of seasoning, and the blue cheese gave a nice sour bite to the overall dish. I tried it with and without squeezing some lemon juice on it, and found the combination of blue cheese and lemon juice work very well together.
Because I ordered from the luncheon menu, which is available from 12:00 to 4:00, the price was under $12. Â
Places like this is why I like to avoid national and regional chains when traveling. Places like the 499 is a prime example of local food served right.
I love the 6's! Come on, you need to realize you aren't going to l'espalier when you come here. This is a pub in Danvers, not a fine dining establishment. They are great at what they do: good priced really well made (strong) cocktails, good priced beer, comforty pub food and all in a laid back environment with good friendly service.
The pizza is great and they have a nice variety of toppings apart from the usual stuff (I love goat cheese and prosciutto !). The 466 burger is another big hit, the chicken parm sandwich, all of the salads are great, the calamari, and of course we love the nachos. Growing up in Topsfield down the road this has been a staple for us as we have like nothing in town. This is our thanksgiving eve spot as well. The only thing I've ever not liked was the clam chowder but no big deal their menu is giant.
It's a small place. half pub and half dining area. Our waitress was hustling, friendly, and helpful.
Everyone enjoyed their meals including the kids' sliders and pasta. We all picked at the fries and thought they were great. The chicken parm lunch entree was delicious and plenty of food.
The iced tea tasted like it had been sitting in one of those giant containers as opposed to being freshly brewed.
The worst 20 I've ever spent on lunch. Â Ordered the steak tips bbq - gross. Â It was suppose to be bbq was reg cooked tips with a gross bbq smeared on it. Â Side of rice pilaf? Â Nope, just yellow rice. Â I wanted fish going in, but the fish counter area smelled rank. Â The coke was more like water with a splash of syrup in it for color.
The service was great though.
Great place, good food....and it's consistent. Â You'll never have a bad meal, no matter what you order. We love getting take out...salads, pizza, calzones, burgers...you name it they have it. Â
Only problem...parking! Â I think the lot is way to small for a restaurant this size, but the food is worth it. Â Give it a shot...you won't be disappointed.
I find myself here again. Â Sometimes you just have to say, "Welcome back." Â to our old stand by that lost it's way for a while.
I used to love this place, then, something happened. Â Ceasar arrived with no dressing......yes, a plate of romaine, chalked it up to a mishap, went back 2, 3 times and it only got worse.
Today 5/14/12 tried it again. Â It was better than it was before it's downfall. Â The owner was mixing drinks and serving food......think there may be a connection? Â Shrimp proscuitto app. was incredible, saved the sauce for the steak & cheese spring rolls and although they didn't need the sauce it was an added.....ahhhhh :)
Companion had the chicken/broccoli, comment: Â "I'm not disapointed this time."
We ate on the tavern side. Â The bartender couldn't have been nicer as was the waitress that took our drink order until seats opened up at the bar. Â
Our  favorite local stand by is back! Â
The only negative I saw was the fake plant in the entry........but who cares, it was in a beautiful glazed pot.
466 is a family favorite... we've spent many birthday dinners here over the years.
They serve up pretty good "home style" Italian cooking in a nice atmosphere. Â Plus they have a bar side to the restaurant if you want to grab some drink and catch a game. Â The nice part is neither one disrupts the others enjoyment of the experience.
2 BIG TIPS: Â If you are coming here for dinner, I would suggest calling ahead because the dinner rush can be just that... a RUSH! Â And secondly, if carpooling is available to you I'd say do it. Â Parking is at a HUGE premium here at 466.
But once you get in and seated, I'd suggest trying the chicken parm... just a personal favorite of mine.
A solid 3-star restaurant. This is just your average locals-type place with good food and good atmosphere. Absolutely nothing stands out here, but it's relatively cheap and is better than going to a chain like applebees or 99. Both of us enjoyed our meals the two times we have gone (we've tried and liked the burgers, steack/cheese sandwhich, and the chicken sandwich).
Expect a wait on Friday & Saturday nights (15-30 minutes usually).
I was in the area recently with Mom and we decided to stop in here. When you first walk in you are in a hallway, you go to the right for the bar (which is clearly marked) and to the left for the restaurant (which is not marked at all). Once we found the right door to go in, we sat ourselves at one of the tables, since there are no booths.
Service was fast and friendly. I started with a cup of clam chowder. The broth was good but the clams tasted like they were canned. I wouldn't get that again. My meal was a cheeseburger with (cold) onions on the side. the burger was good, the fries needs a lot of salt, but after that they were good too.
My only real complaint was it isn't a very warm environment. It gets very loud in the restaurant during their busy hours - at one point when we were there it was difficult to even hold a conversation.
Our bill altogether came to just over $35.00.. I'd prob go here again if I were in the area..
I have had drinks here before and like the atmosphere and the wait staff is good. Â Took a group for lunch this week and was really disappointed with the food. Â Two of us ordered chicken wraps, which were find but the hamburger and steak sandwich were very greasy. Â
The prices are great and the staff was very courteous but the food could use an upgrade to match the rest of the experience.
Just ate there, the food was good, had some steak tip salads, cheese steak eggrolls an wings (thast sucked).. appps were $10 each but they were good size portions. and the salads were about $13 a pretty good deal. The service was good quick, but the waitress didnt pay attention at times, nothing major though.. Im sure we will try it again
Review Source:Parking can be sometimes an issue, but thats because this place is usually very busy! Good bar food, good people, quality is decent. Steak is excellent, chicken broccoli & ziti is good. I've had a few other things on the menu I cannot remember. No complaints other than the place is very very small. Definitely a must try!
Review Source:I didn't have food here, but what was coming out to the people around looked like solid yummy pub food. I saw pizzas, burgers, and subs go by and be consumed quickly. Lots of locals, casual, chatty, two big TVs to watch The Game - my pint of Bass was just fine. There is a bar area with, of course, the bar, and also quite a few small tables - and also a separate dining room.
My impression: clean, simple, no stress pub/diner/sportsbar place to grab some cheap eats and a beer.
I'll come back some time and try the food.
Great place to meet friends for some drinks and lite fare after work. I've only been in the bar, not the restaurant part.
Pros: I've tried the pizza and some of the apps, everything was better quality than I expected. Pizza was quite good, thin crust and tasty. They have a limited but decent selection of beers. Mixed drinks are pretty strong.
Cons: Parking lot is tiny and a nightmare to navigate in and get out of.
I've been looking for a place to make my Go-To restaurant for casual, comfort food, inexpensive, nice bar, naked table dancer type of place.
Other than the last one this place fits the bill nicely.
I have been thinking about the next time I go back and what I'll order so it must have made an impression. Â This is the perfect little casual pub/grill to go for lunch or to watch the game or bring the parents or just to grab a cheap delicious meal.
I had the bacon cheeseburger which was done perfectly. Medium Rare with fries. The way I look at it, if a cow has to die so I can chow down it would kind of be a travesty to not cook it right. Almost an insult to the cow, if you will. That's why everyone associated with Micky D's is going to hell. Â This one was excellent!
The clam chowder was loaded with clams and chunks of potato. It was better than Legal's.
The ribs were sauced up and tender.
The seafood/pasta fra diavolo was loaded up with clams, shrimp, scallops and head cheese. (JK not headcheese)
I had a Sam Adams winter warmer and left with a huge smile on my face. If you are all the way up Route One in Topsfield check this little gem out. Very nice service and delicious food.
Also  it's right near Coco Key if you need an indoor winter play activity.
thumbs UP!
( but not up so far people think I'm hitchhiking.) I have a car.
Looks like a bar and grill from the outside and basically is. They have a well stocked bar but also have a small dining room on the left side separated from the TVs and jukebox. What's surprising is the quality of the food. Its not fine dining but very good pub food and entrees. The 466 burger has a sausage on it! Pizza is surprisingly good. Pasta entrees with scallops are good too. The scallops are large and chicken is tender.
Another diamond in the rough, careful driving out, people go about 70mph by the place.
I'm tempted to give 5 stars but I can't - not because they do anything wrong - it's that it borders on a trailer park (wow, what a snob I am), it's always busy and loud inside & parking in their small lot is a bear.
It's like Yogi Berra says - Nobody goes there anymore 'cause the lines are too long. This place has both lunch and dinner rushes and its not unusual to have to wait for a table.
It has a wide range of grilled items that are fine, just not memorable.
I like the calamari (they have a bit of a kick), the plain cheese pizza is one of the best on the Nothshore, and the desserts are out of this world if you have the room for them.
I based this review on the nearly 2 dozen times I've been there. Â Although some days/nights are better than others, I have never been dissatisfied.
The restaurant has a bar side, with table tops and wide-screen TVs (a great place to eat and drink and catch the game), and a kid-friendly restaurant side, which is usually crowded but never a long wait.
Their pizza is awesome, thin-crust Italian style, and they have a solid burger, sandwich and appetizer menu. Lunch is good...dinner selection is even better.
The grill items (including a mixed-grill option) are tasty and they usually have some excellent and creative dinner specials with at least one really good seafood special item each night. The Greek salad is spectacular--a large salad--and, combined with an appetizer, makes for a great dinner.
Their beer selection is OK; could be better. Mostly the standard domestics and the usual imports. The wait staff (on both sides of the establishment) is friendly and fast, and the management is always good about anticipating a crowd and being well-staffed on busy nights.
This restaurant is down the street from my new job, so I had the chicken sandwich and fries for lunch the other day. Â The sandwich was good, nothing special, but the fries were not crispy. Â I have been here before and had something else, and remember liking it, but I forget what it was. Â Not a bad place to grab a quick lunch bite. Â The bar was pretty crowded, but the dining room was not at lunchtime.
