Basic little diner-type place, tucked away in a random Ft. Wright strip mall. You can expect diner-type food, too - sandwiches and fries and fried chicken. It's good (and greasy), but frankly, if you have any dietary restrictions (like vegetarian or gluten-free) there's only one or two options.

Last time I went, I asked for a side of the vegetable of the day (which is on their menu). The waitress seemed confused and finally said "uh, you mean like a bowl of peas?" and brought back some mushy canned peas. But you do get a lot of food for the price, and if you stick to sandwiches and fries you can't go wrong.

I've been finding something yummy to eat here for about the last 7 years. The atmosphere is somewhat a Greek themed greasy spoon if that makes any sense.  (Waffle House meets "My Big Fat Greek Wedding")

Prices are very reasonable for the food portions you receive. Although they have specials every day, and a not so shabby menu lineup I find myself ordering breakfast here more than anything regardless of the time of day. However, if you're looking for a monster of a double-decker sandwich I encourage you to look no further. These things have at least a pound or more of meat and other ingredients piled onto them.

Most of the folks that work here have been around for quite some time and this always seems like a nice family establishment. If you haven't tried this place before and are looking for something better than many and different than most then this is the place to find it.

I have been here twice now and I liked it both times.

The first time the service was bad.  I had a cheeseburger and fries and it was good. Nothing amazing, but good and pretty cheap.

The second time I came for breakfast. It was on a Sunday and there were pretty many people there but the service was good. I liked the breakfast more than the lunch. It was pretty decently priced too. Also if you come for breakfast during the week, they have specials where the price is crazy cheap. I'll have to come back then and I may need to update my rating.

Oh Kentucky, you'll never fail to amuse me with your down-home hilarity.

The Fort Wright Family Restaurant is a surprisingly good value for its humble nature.

It exudes a certain 1950s diner charm and has all the markings of those late, great highway establishments of yore.

The food is cheap but very wholesome. I always opt for the gyro and the onion rings, which are a house specialty.

I've never tried dessert, but if I did, I might feel tempted to break out into some noir dialogue with the waitresses.

If you need a great place for lunch mixed with some interesting people watching, you can't do much better than this joint.

It's a great friendly place for breakfast on a Saturday Morning. The food is cheap and the portions are plentiful. I've woken up from a long night out with friends only to go to this place and feel world's better. I love the home fires with cheese they do the trick the quickest and there is enough to take home and enjoy later on that day which I often do. The biscuits and gravy are plain awesome. I also like the fact that it is secluded enough to make you feel like you are in on some sort of secret. Try it and I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

I am so happy that I live close enough to this restaurant so I can frequent it every weekend that I wake up with a hangover (which isn't too often). This "greasy spoon" offers a great breakfast or lunch with quick service. We've always had great service and my fiance and I always order stuff that isn't necessarily on the menu, but they always make for us anyways. (A goetta and cheese omelet and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich to be exact.)

I've never tried anything off the dinner menu, but if you need a good diner-type meal, I would definitely go here.

I think I've been spoiled by the sweet sweet pancakes at Sugar & Spice, so I'm a bit biased here. I went to Ft. Wright Family to try the place out after I read the reviews. I don't have much bad to say about it, but I don't have a ton of good to say about it either. We got in, got seated right away but the food came out a little slow considering there weren't many people there.. When it did come out, I wasn't blown away. I got the pancakes and they weren't anything fantastic. Not bad, but just sub par. If I had tried this place first I probably would have liked them much more. I'll probably go back at dinner time sometime to try that instead and review again at that time. The prices weren't bad either and the portions were good as well. I'll go back again, just not for breakfast.

My favorite breakfast place in town, with good omelettes and great French toast. Prices have gone up recently, but its still good bang for the buck. Get there early on Sundays, because its packed after church.

Great breakfast food, good service, strong coffee... all you need for a fantastic Sat or Sun morning!

Portions are large so come with an appetite or be prepared to have leftovers.

Sometimes the simple things in life are the best, ya know? And it doesn't really get any more simple than FWFR. (Consequently, thats the name of my Chinese Swiffer knockoff brand)

Just a simple, greasy spoon type of diner with very low prices and very high flavor. Credit cards are accepted (yay!), and it's really hard to go wrong with their menu. I had their special, Veal Parmesean (fancy!). It was very good, albeit a tiny bit small. Better than what I've had at some Italian restaurants. The rolls were fresh out of the oven, maybe slightly overdone, but very hot and delicious. The vegetables were so-so, had a school cafeteria kind of taste to them. The potatoes were definitely boxed, but the gravy on it? Out of this world. I don't know if it's boxed or homemade, but its amazing.

My other diner companions got a burger, who commented it on being one of the best burgers she's ever had. Another got a gyro, who also gave it higher praise than most gyro's he's had in Greece. Really hard to go wrong there.

Also, they have Cincinnati chili! I of course, had to try their spin on it. And ya know, their chili makes me shed a tear. It actually has an amazing taste to it, although the dog was a tad underdone. The problem is that as delicious as their chili is, it was a touch bland. There was a very good flavor there, but it was almost like they held back with the spices. I'm going to say it was a slightly subpar batch, because if they pump up the seasoning, they've got a winner on their hands.

Still, hard to beat everything else. I'll definitely be back. Maybe I can have a hamburger and veal gyro covered in gravy?

Inexpensive for such a large amount of food. Closest thing to a legit NY-style diner/deli that I've found in the area.

First place I ever ate in Kentucky 10 years ago, and still one of my favorites.

Simple down home food, tasty, and plenty of it.

Great food for very little money. Just a good old-fashioned diner. This isn't for you yuppie-types that prefer brightly lit, sterile environments. I recommend the country fried steak or the open-faced roast beef sandwich. Don't hesitate to try the daily special either.

This place has great breakfast at very reasonable prices.  I used to eat here many times per week when I was working at Huntington Bank.  It's a little greasy though, so I am kind of glad that it isn't so convenient anymore.  It is great breakfast food though.

First time I went here I picked up sandwiches to go from this small family-style restaurant recently so I could enjoy an outdoor lunch at DeVou Park. I have to say, the double-decker turkey sandwich was so huge that I made nearly three meals out of it and a bag of chips. The place also offers plate lunches, burgers and other lunch and dinner fare. Haven't tried them, but the homemade pies are supposed to be excellent!

It's located in a small strip center off the Kyles Lane exit off I-75. The prices are reasonable and parking is easy to find in the lot in front of the restaurant. On my initial visit, I noticed the smoking inside, but found out recently that there is a room to the left that is non-smoking.

This time I had a roast beef with swiss, chips and iced tea. Still a big sandwich, so for a total of $7, that's pretty inexpensive!
