Just had a lovely Tuesday lunch here and it was great as usual. Many on yelp talk about how much they love the Irish food here, and while it is delicious, I'm a fan of the avocado bacon burger! It is always cooked how'd I like, the ciabatta buns are always fresh, the avocado is perfectly ripe, there is the right amount of bacon... just yummy! I usually order mine with the chips Irish nacho style and it is enough food that I can almost always make 2 meals out of it. Throw in any of their beers on tap and expect to have a very satisfying experience!

Being an east coast Irishman (Irishwoman?) I've been to a ton of great, tradtitional Irish pubs; and love to check them out wherever I go.  From New York to Spain to Amsterdam - even spent the night of my engagement drinking whiskey enjoying car bomb supcakes at a hidden irish gem up in Mendocino. So yeah, I LOVE a good pub.

That said, I adore Garman's.  People like to say us left coasters can't do pubs like that do 'back east', but obviously they haven't been here.  Friendly, accommodating staff, warm atmosphere, and great food with all the favorite familiar specials you'll find at the good Irish haunts, and a few that you may be missing...  Anyplace that has boxtys on their menu, and does them well, is a winner in my book!

'Boxty on the griddle, boxty on the pan; if you can't make boxty, you'll never get a man!

I haven't been to Garman's in almost a year. I know, and I have no good excuse. Went in today to kill some time before we all went to a movie and was so impressed with the customer service. I know I am very VERY critical of businesses and their lack of C.S. however, when I come across extraordinary, I will sing the praises! Well, color me singing...staff greeted us immediately, were friendly in their greeting and their attitude was "WE are really stoked you chose to come in HERE!" THIS is so lovely. Server never let our glasses go lower than half full and the food was excellent. The black and tan onion rings, ARE U KIDDING ME? hello, YUM! We will not wait an entire year to come back. THANK YOU. Ya all keep on keeping on!

A Great Pub in my Hometown. Garman's is a great place to have a bite to eat and play a round of pool. A warm and friendly atmosphere with great food. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home. My favorites are the fish and chips and the Gillespie Burger.

Great little pub! Lived in Santa Paula for years, and wish this had been open while I was there. Lived in Ventura later, and found myself driving 20 mins to this place quite frequently.

    Pros:
Friendly, well trained and helpful staff
Nice drink selection (both tap and well drinks)
Food is very tasty, and diverse American/Irish-ish choices
Happy hour is real discounts (not like a $0.50 off $6 drinks that some places do)
    Very family-friendly for a pub

    Cons:
    Can be a little pricey
If you find yourself here on trivia night it can be very loud

Overall, a great place to visit. My favorite time to show up is from 5-7 or so. Its usually nice a quiet on weeknights. Have some great memories of coming here after work, sitting with my iPad watching sports, drinking beer, and just enjoying myself. Wish I still lived in So Cal so I could visit more.

This is one of the best restaurants in Santa Paula.  Great location, good selection of drinks, friendly staff.  I'll be back for sure.  PS - Try the gillespe burger.  amazing!

I'm in here about once a week. It's one of two spots to get beer in a glass in this place. It would be really cool if the pints weren't so damn highLy priced. There used to be four buck ciders on tue. But alas, no more. Foods decent, better when you catch it on special.

While I am still tasting and learning about the Irish cuisine I have to say my husband and I are completely sold on Garman's Pub.  After a one star experience at the restaurant next door we were still determined to try Santa Paula's eateries.  We are so glad we choose Garman's.  Fish and chips, great, potato leek soup, comforting, corn beef and cabbage, delicious, bangers and mash, fantastic, onion rings, super, but you need to save room for the bread pudding, oh my!  But not only is their food great, the cozy atmosphere, attentive servers, and happy customers make for an over the top dining experience.  We have now visited three times in two weeks, and we foresee many more visits.  Perhaps next time we can throw a few darts or shoot some pool.

Two thumbs up, Garman's Restaurant and Irish Pub!

And, I waited to write this review after the "Irish Kiss" cocktail wore off, because it carried a wallop of it's own!

Very nice architecture, however the service was absurd.  Waited almost an hour for my lunch and had to take it to go. The waitress had a crummy attitude as well.  The plate I ordered was just ok.  Surely won't go back.

My daughter and I stopped at this pub for dinner. We were immediately greeted by patrons sitting a table as you enter the pub and our waitress. The decor was nice and welcoming. Our service was great and so was the food. My daughter had an avocado bacon cheeseburger and sweet potato fries and I had the chicken pesto sandwich. We shared both and were extremely satisfied with our meals. We wanted to try one of the deserts but were too stuffed. I know my husband would have loved this place! I will definitely recommend this pub to others.

This place is what I would imagine an Irish Pub would be like if I ever went to Ireland. They have great food and the prices are reasonable. The beer and whiskey selection was really good too. Smithwick's is a great one to try if you've never had it!

Lunch here with a girl friend was wonderful. So many good things on the menu, hard to believe we both went for burgers and salad instead of fries. Great choice but I need to go back and try more things! good service, reasonably priced. Beautiful old bar and tin ceiling. AC cranking on a hot day. Who could complain?

    I love this place.
Awesome eats -- the Reuben, Irish tacos, Shepherd Pie are all good, but my favorite by far is (get this) their burgers. The best I've had in years.
Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

I kept hearing such great things about Garman's, my husband and I had to finally go and check it out ourselves.  Awesome atmosphere (whoever did their decor did one of the best jobs I've ever seen at a pub, fun yet classy), incredible food at very reasonable prices, broad variety of beverages, and also great live entertainment on some nights.  Needless to say, we absolutely love going there and have been back a few times since!

The first thing out of their mouths when we walked in? "We're out of Guinness".   We should have walked out then.

We settled on other beers, though, and both took our chances on the Knife and Fork Salad.  He got the blue cheese dressing ("We make it in house!", they bragged),  I got the balsamic.

The next day, he was puking his guts out and I was fine.

No guinness + food poisning = never again, one star, I SAID GOOD DAY.

Awful food!First off they brought our beer in plastic cups because they said they were to.busy and ran out or glass. They brought the food out within minutes... The stew was ice gold and lacked flavor. The rueben was loaded with 1000 island which made the bread very soggy. The water also tasted awful like it was from dirty!

My favorite place on Main St Santa Paula for R&R. Great atmosphere and a whole lot nicer than it was when it was a pool hall. That goes back a long time I know.
Fish tacos are great, enough for two. Salmon dinner is out of this world and clam chowder is as good as it gets. Beer selections are unlimited and five star.
    Thanks Clint, the boss!

2nd visit here.  This visit I had a burger that was really, really good!  Enjoying this place.  Took my son this time, he had a Ruben and said it was real good.  Looking forward to another visit.  Guy next to me had fish tacos that looked really good.

OOooo...where do I start? First off, are these other reviews of the same place????? 4.5 average? No way! My first impression in walking into Garmans was the lack of customers. There were 3 people in this place...7:15pm, my concern to the integrity of the 4-5 star reviews for this place were greatly increasing.

Beer prices, high, 6.5 bucks for a badly poured Guinness. No thanks.

Food menu looked promising. Maybe this is where the good reviews derived. Decent prices with interesting descriptions. The only problem is the food did not pair. My girlfriends Rueben had barely any meat, if you like a sauerkraut sandwich, this is for you. At this time is when I knew I was not coming back. Very upset with the overall package of Garmans. The only reason for the 2 stars and not 1 is that the Shepard's Pie wasn't too bad.

The ambiance - the Old West meets Dublin. The food is a great combination of traditional Irish fare and California fusion (i.e. Irish Tacos). The vibe is inviting and casual. Try the trinity pint and shake Clint Garman's hand.

One of the better Irish bars I've seen out here. The atmosphere and design of the place is very Irish-familiar, yet unique. For example: they have old pool tables used as drinking counters, and there's a huge back bar counter that apparently is from the early 1900s.

The service was good. I went during the slow times, so I can't account for the night rush, but every server/bartender I interacted with was friendly in a small town bar type way. One of them was even patient enough to remake a cosmo 2 times for the lady sitting next to me. 50% was to maintain customer satisfaction, but the other 50% was because he was curious why she was tasting mint, when none was added to the drink.

The Gillespie burger was good. I'm always skeptical about burgers from bars, but this place did not disappoint me. I believe part of the reason is that Garman's is just as much a restaurant, as it is a pub... possible even more. The Gillespie burger has angus beef, swiss, onion rings, bacon, lettuce, tomato, brown mustard, and a ciabatta bun. I'm always iffy about onion rings, but... however they prepared it, it was perfect. The onion flavor was not strong at all.

A few last comments: Tuesday trivia nights. Live music some weekend nights.

The best part... 22 oz Sam Adams Winter Lager on tap. Enough said.

    Thanks for reading.

If you want really great pub food to pair with a classic Irish pint, then this is the place for you.  Garman's has great ownership and management and genuinely seeks to make sure you have a good time and quality food.  The actual building is also amazing, with dark wood, an epic bar made from old pool table surfaces (looks classic and hip all in one), high ceilings, and stone walls.

You probably have come to expect much less based on other local Irish pubs, but this place destroys on them in most every way.  They also have pool tables and darts if you want to hang out after dinner.

    Big place, good times.
The wife and I had a free night in Santa Paula last week, and decided to drop in on Garman's for dinner & football.
The atmosphere is great... definitely has that Irish Pub type of feel, but it's a big place (like a TGI Fridays).

The Onion Rings are fantastic. For entrees, we got the Shepherds Pie and Bangers & Mash. The meals were pretty bland, but you're not going to find anything comparable in the surrounding area. Got the Bread Pudding for dessert... it was pretty nom.

They have a great selection of whiskey and beer.

This place is fun, hip, and a great place to hang. Thanks, Garman's!

Santa Paula, this is NOT.  Really?  Rode the train from Fillmore to Santa Paula one Saturday afternoon... having already seen the oil museum on a previous trip, we decided to head straight to lunch.  After a quick Yelp search, we made our way over to Garmans.  Wow.  The service was fantastic.  I wish I could remember the name of our server - she was delightful, helpful, and incredibly attentive.  Drinks were never empty.  The selection was abundant.  And the food was fantastic.  I had the Irish Cobb salad - very large, very fresh and very delicious.  My husband had the Shepherd Pie and was happy with his choice.  A very nice dining experience and certainly somewhere I would spend more time if I lived closer.  Next time I'm passing through Santa Paula (via vehicle), I will definitely make an effort to stop.  Well worth it.

WOW !!! Great food and outstanding drinks. "Try your hand" at Trivia Night every Tuesday night..... it is a blast !!!!  Get there early for Santa Paula Cruise Night , first Friday of the month. Great car show on Main Street, then back to Garman's for food and drink. Clint Garman, owner, is very personable as is the rest of the staff. Hamburgers are outstanding.  Check out the new menu.

Not only was i taking a girl here to impress her, but i was taking her here for an ice cold Guinness...I walked in at 3PM, the time the website said the happy hour started. It was completely empty with noone in sight and i thought it was closed. I hate writing a poor review of this place, but she, the waitress, not only told us the website was wrong (which she should've at least realized that it wasn't our fault, but she wasn't even apologetic), but she didn't even care that i threatened to leave right there....Being someone of business, she should've realized, not only is the costumer right, but i financially would've payed back the money off happy hour with a few Guinness'  to even out the payment off happy hour. She gladly let us walk out the door, with noone even in the restaurant....that to me is the worst customer service you can provide....Go somewhere where they care!!!!!!!!

Visiting a friend who lived in Santa Paula, 4 of us came here on a rainy Saturday a few weeks ago. The bar/restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, comfortable, and fit in perfectly with the cute downtown strip..... the place you'd imagine all the usuals frequenting with some pool, their good ol' boys, and where everybody knows their name.

We were some of the only diners there, except for a guy in a full Santa suit drinking beer alone at the bar. I liked this place already. Every day has a different drink special, and we got the 2 of the day, bloody marys and grasshopper martinis. I'd expect a grasshopper martini to be sweet and girly, but this one was STRONG. The bloody marys were good, but too spicy to really be enjoyable, even for the people who liked spicy.

We ordered the Irish fish tacos and two "boxtys," potato pancakes served crepe-style with different fillings (we went with one smoked salmon and one chicken, cheddar, and cream sauce). My Irish tacos came with corned beef and cabbage, with a cilantro-ish dipping sauce on the side. Everything was very, very good and the service was great. Parking was easily found just outside the restaurant, too. Definitely a great choice if you're ever in the area.

Such a great place to go in Santa Paula! It's our casual go to spot, check out Enzo's if you want something with a nicer/date night vibe.

I highly recommend their corned beef taco appetizers and their beer list is quite extensive. Their desert with the giant cookie and ice cream is great, beats BJ's pazooki!

This much heralded pub and restaurant in the small town of Santa Paula, has now been open for about 3 months.

The interior has been designed with care, and I had hopes of a beer and some good Irish food. Neither occurred.

Firstly, they were out of two of my favorite beers (e.g. Murphy's).
I settled for a Boddington's - acceptable, but not top notch.

I ordered from a rather limited choice menu, and settled on Shepherds Pie, my partner on Fish and Chips. Although the pie was OK, there were no vegetables, bread, or anything else. The fish and chips comprised five small pieces with no fries, only Fritos-like slices tasting strongly of oil.

The eating area is noisy, and right next to the kitchen and pool tables, and the trash container. I swear I saw the cook dishing fries in to a plate with his hands.

This place has no future unless they do a radical overhaul. This is one of the poorest meals I've had in ages. Go elsewhere.
