Georgia's Bistro

There are few restaurants you can walk into and feel like you own the place. As soon as my wife and I entered Georgia's Bistro we were met with outstanding service and beautiful decor. This isn't the best fine dining the Ritz Carlton has to offer on the property but is instead a minor step down in offerings and price.

I have been to eat at many places in the area and fine dining is almost non existent. The places I have dined at, really missed the bar but were still the best in their area. I figured the Ritz Carlton would be a shoe-in and was right.

==SERVICE==
As soon as my wife and I walked down the stairs into the restaurant we were recognized (by arrival time?) and greeted by name. I felt at ease immediately and was ready to soak up the experience. The quality decor and obvious detail of service made me feel transported back to California where fine dining, good food and excellent service are more common (not to offend anyone).

I did notice while waiting that the staff was not very knowledgeable on wine and could not pour a proper glass. At a place like the Ritz this is usually standard with training. With the hiring of a sommelier they could really up their game.

==FOOD==
We started with the Crispy crab fritter ($15) that included four plump deep friend spheres of deliciousness and a side of peach tartar sauce. The sauce was something I hadn't experience before and was a good way to start the meal.

I ordered the herb rubbed filet mignon ($34) for my main, which atop roasted potato wedges, asparagus and a side of poached shallot sauce. My meat was a bit dry for a filet mignon which made it less tender than expected. The sauce and sides added to the flavor and made up for any loss on the plate.

My wife ordered the roasted chicken breast ($25) that were served atop pearl onions, potato, wild mushroom, bacon, and roasted tomato chutney. The entire dish was packed with flavor from the sauce and mixture of veggies. Each bite was mouth-watering and was the best of the two mains ordered for less cost.

To finish off the night we ordered a Freshly made coconut, raspberry and mango sorbet ($10). This dish was not only amazing to look at but was jammed with very strong flavors. We had to take little nibbles due to the sweetness, but were able to enjoy every bite.

Overall, I was impressed with Georgia's Bistro and will be back. Next time I won't order the most pricey dish on the menu but what sounds more appetizing. Price doesn't always deem quality. I look forward to trying some more of their regional, farm-to-table seasonal fare in the future.

On a side note, where do the employees live? Surely not in the dozens of mansions in Greensboro. Must be a long drive to work!

Great, southern breakfast inside the friendly confines of the Ritz-Carlton at Reynolds Plantation.

I love traveling to the south and having a great-tasting yet bad-for-you breakfast!

Georgia's offers a breakfast buffet on Sunday mornings with all of the great items that you would expect, these are just a few of the offerings:

- Biscuits and sausage gravy.  
- Cinnamon Pancakes
- Thick slices of bacon and sausage
- Cajun Grits
- Omelets made-to-order
- Hot Pecan Rolls

+ many fresh fruits, yogurt, cereal, muffins, etc...

Needless to say, I would have needed to jog an extra 1000 miles before breakfast on Sunday to burn enough calories for a breakfast like this!

Georgia's Bistro is a great low-key but refined place for dinner or lunch. Indoor and outdoor seating is offered, and I highly recommend sitting outdoors during the evening, especially on the rare occasion that it is not a typical hot, humid southern evening. The food choices are not extensive here, but  everything we ordered was great. The complementary selection of bread and spreads that is presented after ordering is worth the trip even if an entree isn't spectacular (ours were, though!).

The view of the lake and giant fire pit from the tables on the terrace are romantic and beautiful. The service was slightly slow, however, this might have been intentional as we were celebrating a special occasion and I suspect they were letting us enjoy the dinner. They did provide us with a fantastic complementary dessert due to the celebration (and we got to pick the dessert!!). Overall, I highly recommend the restaurant for its great bread, good entrees, and fantastic ambiance.
