2 1/2 Stars.
Golden Acorn serves a dual purpose. Besides being a restaurant, Golden Acorn also serves as the Clubhouse for the Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course, a Par 72, 6,400 yard course. The Golf Course is located on the SouthEast side of Galt. Golden Acorn is operated and managed by a Korean family, who are also Golf fanatics, as are the kitchen staff.
I arrived at Golden Acorn after a circuitous Bicycle ride from Lodi to Thornton to Galt. IMO, of all the places I've been to in Galt, Golden Acorn iis the only facility large enough to house corporate events, weddings, special events, social gatherings, banquets, and large parties.
On the menu today...
Special Omelette (** $7.95) Nothing special here. All Breakfast dishes come with Toast and Potatoes. The three Egg Omelette contained diced Green Bell Peppers, bits of Ham, and some Onions. It was folded over and some slices of American Cheese placed on top. Potatoes were "enhanced" with Seasoned Salt.
Short Stack of Pancakes (*** $4.95) Not bad in flavor, but the kind of Pancakes makes it seem that there is always a shortage of Syrup... no matter how much you use. Syrup from a small packaged container.
Coffee (*** $1.25) Nothing Special. Sweetener and Cream from packets.
Ambiance (****) Breakfast is served at the Bar. The Bar is faces South and overlooks the 9th and 18th holes of the Dry Creek Ranch Golf Course. The Bar has picture windows along the South Wall so that anyone seated at the Bar can observe goings-on on those holes. There is a tiered structure to the Bar area where the Bartender at the Bar does not obstruct the view to the outside, and anyone seated at the Bar is actually seated lower than the patrons seated behind them at the three Dining Tables. Nice, warm, dark burnished wood atmosphere with plaques of former 49ers and Tiger Woods on some walls. Looks like this is a 49ers Golf Course...
While I was consuming my Breakfast, many Golfers came off the Golf Course, at the end of their round or during their "turn" (9th hole), to purchase Beer or Cigars to take back on the course.
Golfers have it pretty nice!
